I watched it again last night (usually do it about once a year), still my least liked Bond movie. Was is it in Freemo's article where I read something like "20 years later and it's still not realisitic". Exactly. That battle between the marines and Drax's people in outerspace was aweful, which reminds me, it's very unbelievable for Bond to just hop into a shuttle and blast off like that. I even found that a little stretched in the movie Armageddon and they even had three weeks training. I personally think that The Spy Who Loved Me is as over the top Bond should go. Sorry, didn't mean to ramble like that. I'll probably receive threatening e-mails from all the Moonraker fans now...

The only compliment I can give it: Could have been the series' best pre-title sequence but they had to through Jaws in there.

This makes it look as though I hate FYEO but I don't I love it. TSWLM and MR are my 2 clear favourites after that they are all VERY close.

Yep, that was me, didn't realise anyone read those. I find Moonraker near impossible to rank, part of me wanted to put it in at about third, and part of me thought it should be way down at 6 or 7. I mean its lots of fun, some great bits, but its more than a little goofy too. Jaws as Wile E. Cyote, the pigions double takes, the space scenes. I guess both sides of fans might have to agree to disagree on Moonraker, maybe thats a good thing.

For Your Eyes Only (also in the top five of the Bond canon over all)
The Spy Who Loved Me
The Man With a Golden Gun
Octopussy
A View to a Kill
Live and Let Die
Moonraker
AVTAK moved down the list a bit, because I gave some thought to amazing Maud Adams. Her brief bit in TMWGG (along with Chrisopher Lee and the amazing car stunts) make this movie number three on my list.
Octopussy moves up, also because of Maud Adams.
Much like her effect on "Charlie's Angels," Tanya Roberts kills AVTAK for me.

2. The Man with the Golden Gun
3.(t)The Spy Who Loved Me
3.(t)For Your Eyes Only
5. Moonraker
6. Octopussy*
7. A View to a Kill
*This is the first time that I have ever listed Octopussy in anything but the last spot. I guess it's growing on me. (And A View to a Kill is shrinking)

Moonraker
these two are head and shoulders above the other five:
Octopussy
Live and Let Die
A View to a Kill
TMWTGG
FYEO...it seems like a "THE SAINT" feature not a James Bond Epic

2 - The Spy who loved me
3 - For Your Eyes Only
4 - Live and Let Die
5 - Moonraker

7 - The Man with the Golden Gun
The highest I've ever had Moonraker, maybe I'm warming towards it, despite yesterdays comments.

Allowing the position number to equal the same value (ie: #1 = 1 point, #2 = 2 points, etc), the results are like in golf where lower the score the better.
Dr. Tynan only noted three titles and couldn't list them in order, so I had to record them as equal 1st.1st with 30 points is The Spy Who Loved Me2nd with 44 points is Octopussy
3rd with 49 points is For Your Eyes Only
4th with 62 points is Moonraker
5th with 63 points is Live and Let Die
6th with 67 points is A View to a Kill
7th with 80 points is The Man with the Golden Gun

6. A View To A Kill
5. Live & Let Die
4. Octopussy
3. (tie) The Spy Who Loved Me
2. (tie) The Man With The Golden Gun
1. For Your Eyes Only
FYEO moved to the top after learning to love it all over again via watching all the Moore movies in one go and realising that it's the only mature film in the Moore films.
But then again TMWTGG comes in second because it's so damn silly! and TSWLM has the most gorgeous Bond girl in XXX. Moonraker is a stinker!

1 Octopussy
2 The Spy Who Loved Me
3 For Your Eyes Only
4 A View to a Kill
(Actually the Top four are tied, I was just trying to 'fit in' with the FYEO-bashing crowd lead by ray t ;D )
5 Moonraker (definitely the best of the worst, excellent moments only offset by the ''Jaws-in-love' and the space [cuss])
6 Live, and Let Die (If only the myriads of chases were original, that would really benefit this one!
7 The Man with the Golden Gun
(The last two tie: LALD offers more realism, yet has only a minute's worth of plot; TMWTGG has a quite extensive plot, but unfortunately it's never used!

Unfortunately The Man with the Golden Gun, so far, rated last or second last in 10 of 14 lists, and the highest it got was #2.freemo (08 Apr, 2002 07:34 a.m.):
Poor TMWTGG, too many 7's.
List looks pretty good, seems that TSWLM is a clear winner.
While The Spy Who Loved Me has so far rated first or second in 10 of 14 lists.
It's interesting to note that Live and Let Die, Moonraker & For Your Eyes Only has rated both 1st and last in various lists.
