I'd love to see a return of the "007 theme." It remains one of my favorite pieces of music from the early films and whole series. Granted it doesn't fit in perfectly with Craig's interpretation, but with the seeming return to normalcy for Bond 24, I think it could fit in somewhere.

I also would love the return of the 007 theme if they could update it and find a action scene that suits it, would be nice to hear.

I don't know about using the "007 Theme" because it feels more suited to the Connery films (although it was used once in a Moore film)

I don't really see the main attraction to the '007 Theme', really. It suited the Connery/Moore films, but would feel insanely redundant in the Craig era. It's too light hearted. I guess a darker arrangement could work, but I assume composers already have the Bond theme to work with, so why bother with another secondary theme when they could put their own personal stamp on it, and come up with something original.

It depends entirely on who the director is.

I'd be much happier with another Newman over another Arnold. But I also agree with Armand - let the director decide.

I think that Newman did a great job with the score!! However, one thing I really did miss, was the way the late great John Barry and also David Arnold did so well: to have echos of the title song blended into the score. With Skyfall having one of the best title songs of the series, I'm wondering if it was composed AFTER Thomas Newman scored the film, hence it not being included throughout the film. Or did I just miss it entirely? (I saw it twice already :-D )

I must admit I wondered whether the title song was written only just before the score was completed, hence there was only one obvious reference to it. As for who should score next time around, I'd say either Thomas Newman, David Arnold or Michael Giachinno. If Sam Mendes is director next time I'll be surprised if it isn't Newman. If the next director has no particular preference of composer the producers will probably go with Arnold or Newman. And if they aren't available, who knows?

I'd welcome Newman back.

With open arms. Serra's Goldeneye was my favourite modern non-Barry work (still like it), but now? Newman takes the mantle. I liked listening to Newman's score listening in isolation. But when set against the visuals it came to life and gelled perfectly with the film's mood. When Bond walked out into Istanbul and "Grand Bazaar, Istanbul" kicked into gear, .52 seconds into the track, I knew all was well.

I've never liked Michael Ghiachinno's score for any of his films. Mainly the score to M:I 4-Ghost Protocol.

Something about his work that just sounds generic.

Giachinno would be outstanding. All his work has outstanding potential for Bond, but The Incredibles basically IS john barry's bond scores; his mission impossible scores are brilliant too.

Exactly.

I second this.

I'd also love to hear the original Bond theme back again. It's been over 30 years.

What do you think, who made Bond 24?

Again Thomas Newman (if Mendes returns, i think its clear), a Comeback from David Arnold, or a new Composer? Maybe Hans Zimmer? (He's also a huge Bond-Fan)

Ennio Morricone.

Only works in Italy now. It's a stipulation in his contract.

Maybe, but is that a problem?

I'd rather have an obviously good choice than an inevitable one where the composer was picked for being pals with the director rather than their suitability to the project (*cough* Thomas Newman *cough*)

No, but his music being generic and dull might be.

I think if a director has a good relationship with a composer they should work together when possible. Best examples out there are Leone/Morricone and Spielberg/Williams.

So, although i personally thought Newman seemed embarrassed about using the Bond theme he did an otherwise good job, but i'd only want him back if Mendes was onboard.

Likewise if Nolan were to direct i'd like Zimmer to score.

Then there's Clint Mansell who's done all of Darren Aronofsky's score (and i'd love Aronofsky to direct a Bond movie).

One of my favourite movie composers is Cliff Martinez. His score for Drive was amazing and i loved his work on the Solaris remake. He's scored all of Steven Soderbergh's movies superbly. Several years ago, high on Out Of Sight and Traffic i'd have mooted Soderbergh to direct Bond, but no longer.

Yello.... I really f****ing love Yello, can't be any clearer than that really. Although this song itself is slightly too techno for Bond, there's plenty in there back catalogue to suggest they'd do a pretty spectacular soundtrack.

It would also be a new and interesting move for Bond to have a band score the film. Worked for Tron Legacy with Daft Punk and way back with Highlander and Queen.

The more I listen to the Skyfall score, the more I think Thomas Newman should have another go. I'm a massive David Arnold fan, so I'd welcome his return, but Newman has already impressed me enough that I'd be excited to see where it takes it next time around. If Mendes is back I assume Newman will be as well unless he is unavailable. I would like Arnold back in the future though. Say for Bond 25 in (likely) 2016 - by then Arnold will have been away for 8 years which is lots of time to have recharged his batteries (even though I thought his Casino and Quantum scores were his best yet).

I'd love to have Morricone but he seems to work exclusively for Giuseppe Tornatore. If he is chosen it would be a different story but I think they'd rather have someone who speaks English.

I'd take Newman back for sure. Arnold would be great too. Hans Zimmer would be nice.

I've been a big fan of David Arnold, though I'd like to hear Newman give another go around.  I think he fits Craig's Bond better, even if another director helms Bond 24.  But I'd like to hear him really embrace using the Bond theme.  He seemed to shy away from using it.  Though Arnold probably over indulged on it with his first score.  I think his batteries would be recharged and he'd return with some fresh ideas.

Hans Zimmer would be good too.  Interestingly, I always wanted James Horner to score a Bond film and, according to John Burlingame in The Music of James Bond, he was considered for Never Say Never Again.

Based on his score for 'Zero Dark Thirty', I'm curious to see how Alexandre Desplat  would approach doing the score for Bond. Although, I still don't like much of scores, but the 'ZDT' score has me interested.
