A vote for one isn't a smack of the others but I'll go with Sean's early work and then Tim Dalton.Roger and Pierce have made some turkeys.George was underrated.

I picked Roger Moore because he was James Bond throughout my childhood. I enjoy every Bond so far, but Moore brings back good memories. Also, never again will an actor play 007 seven consecutive times.

I can never choose between Brosnan, Connery and early Moore. Connery had the charisma and charm and also the look about him that he could kill someone without thinking twice, but Moore had the classiness, the accent and the look that you would imagine the gentleman spy to have. And in the early ones he could pull off the cold blooded side, ie the execution of Stromberg. Unfortunately he lost that killing edge as the films continued and (literally) become a bit of a clown.
Brosnan is perfect. He has the charm, charisma and classiness, but he also has that psycho look that he gets sometimes that makes you believe that he is capable of killing without remorse. He also has the perfect good looks that are a little rough around the edges look that really suits Bond.

Can't choose one. It would have to be an amalgamation of Brosnan, Dalton, and Connery.

I voted for Connery but think it is an outrage that excellent American Jim Bond, Barry Nelson got 0 votes.

Okay I was being sarcastic that last bit, but I did vote for Sean.

Kudos to zencat for including "The man I see in my head when I read the books".

That IS actually my favorite Bond, but I voted Lazenby because he's the closest thing to the man I see in my head when I read the books.

When I read my first Fleming novel WAY back when (FRWL, btw), I saw him as the artist's rendering on the cover of the Signet 2nd ed.!

I could never imagine Bond being any of the people I see on the covers of various publications of the novels, he's just there, I think he's a bit different for everyone's point of view, but you still can think of him.

1. Timothy Dalton is my Bond all the way. I prefer his performance in The Living Daylights, even though he delved deeper into his performance in Licence To Kill.

2. Sean Connery in Thunderball is my second. His performance was more balanced than the previous. In the first two films, he was too harsh. In YOLT and DAF, he was out of shape and seemed tired and uninspired. Goldfinger, (which is my least favorite movie,) didn't do Connery any justice. In Thunderball he was the coolest and suavest.

3. Roger Moore in For Your Eyes Only, in my opinion, is one of the best performances of any actor in a Bond film. Gone were the stupid puns and jokes, that were very anti-secret agent. Moore gave a performance that was suave, ruthless, and very believable. Unlike TMWTGG, the cold-bloodedness was not overdone, and the dialogue scenes were well written. Could have been nominated for something.

4. Roger Moore in Moonraker is certainly the best "Roger Moore Bond." Like Connery before him he found one of his best performances in his fourth film. Moore was his best dressed, best equipped, had the best lines, ("You missed Mr. Bond." "Did I?") and had his coolest moments. Like the film, more put every penny that he earned on screen.

5. The Benson Book Bond is my personal favorite. To me, he looks like a cross between Timothy Dalton and Hugh Jackman. He is a tormented soul that, like Brosnan, is somehow invincible, despite everything that he endures after each book.

I guess I'll give the nod to the Bros-man. He was the first Bond I ever saw, so he's kind of the 'original' for me. But I think Connery and Dalton are terrific too.

1)Sean Connery

2)Timothy Dalton(He also comes closest to resembling my mental image of the literary 007 than any other actor among the Bonds)

3)Pierce Brosnan

4)Roger Moore

5)George Lazenby

Having said this,I like all of these actors and respect their contributions to the series.

I wonder how surprised Eon would be to find that Moore was slightly ahead of Connery and that Dalton was winning out over Brosnan?

Although I'm pretty 50-50 over Connery and Moore, I intended to vote for Moore as I thought it might even things out a bit {imagining that Connery would be walking away with it}. Glad to see I didn't have to.
