Film this one under unconfirmed, however, 'Dave' has just written in with some great news from Bond fans. The teaser trailer for Die Another Day will screen before Star Wars Episode II: Attack of The Clones which will premiere world-wide this May 16.

Dave comes by the news thanks to his association with a major cinema located in the UK and tells us that it will be showing as of the midnight screen of Episode II.

So what details do we have about the trailer? The trailer has been described as such;

THE DIE ANOTHER DAY TEASER (NSS, 56secs, Cert. PG)

I'm damn excited about this news. Fox are putting the trailer in front of one of this years most anticipated films, and good on them. I hope it plays before the US release of Star Wars too.

If you'd like to discuss this news (of course you would) please visit this thread of the Die Another Day Forums.

And remember, you read it here first in yet another CommanderBond.Net Exclusive!

Just the whole experience. The seats are very different. And the biggest thing I noticed were the adverts before a movie. They ran for the same time but they were just so different in their genre. I saw two films while up in Queensland and not a single advert had any form of sexual content in it (that was an advert before a film). Nearly every single one does down here.

Of course, that's not to say all Gold Coast cinemas are like that. I think the one that I went to was near Pacific Star or something like that. It was North of Pacific Fair, which, from memory is near Jupiters.

now I'm not sure... but are you sure there will even be trailers? As I recall, there weren't any for the phantom menace.  At least in the US. Is that just my imagination?

When I went to see Ep 1, it had the teaser for TWINE attached. It was the last trailer to play in the run, although I couldn't hear it well as my bro, not realising it was a Bond trailer, kept asking me what it was.

I saw SW:AOTC last night. After 2 trailers for Scooby Doo and A Disney film, i'd almost given up hope, But then... Up came the Fox logo, followed by MGM and there it was.

How did the audience react to it, Dalton?

By License To Kill:

Me, living in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania region, I was first to hear that in a local movie theater in suburbia Pittsburgh that in the 12:00am showing of AOTC on May 16, showed the Bond trailer. Most likely it was not attached to the film and was loose in the can. I can confirm that Matrix II, Austin Powers III were also shown. I'm not sure about the rest of the state or US for that matter. But I can tell you that, this is going to be one smash up of a movie!!!!!

I have already seen Episode II, the final theatrical version, and there were only 2 attached trailers- that stupid Little Bow Wow basketball movie, and Mr. Deeds (I think, I was so excited to see the movie that I forget). So if the teaser is with Ep II, then it will come loose in the can, meaning that individual theaters can attach it or not. I know I'll have my projectionist put it on there! I'll call Fox in the morning to see if I can get any info out of them. If I do I'll let you know.

Morton Slumber (08 May, 2002 03:16 a.m.):
Interestingly all the Star Wars films have been U cert in the UK, yet now we have news of a PG trailer being shown with the new one. Does this mean that AOTC is going to be the first PG SW film or are Fox not concerned that the inclusion of a PG trailer with a U film is against UK law or is this report a load of rubbish.

Hate to tell you Morton, but you're wrong. Star Wars has only just been classified and here's the report by yours truly from the main page;

Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones has received a PG rating in the United Kingdom from the British Board of Film Classification. The classification has noted that to achieve the rating Fox International chose to edit out one second of the film, featuring a head-butt. However, they did have the option of not editing the film and giving it a 12 rating.

But what does this mean for James Bond? Well it means that the Die Another Day trailer can feature with Star Wars Episode II as Bond trailers are generally rated PG.

Either way, it's good news for Die Another Day.

So there you have it. Star Wars is PG and not U!

'GoldfingerRand' has done a lot of research in to the status of the teaser trailer for Die Another Day in the United States.

To begin with, the teaser trailer does exist in the US. According to Technicolor, who are the US version of the UK's NSS and distribute advertising material to cinemas, the teaser trailer does exist and is currently on backorder. Also on backorder is the Die Another Day teaser poster! So expect that in US theatres soon!

Any theatres in the US that are interested in showing the trailer, you can can order the trailer through Technicolor or contact MGM to ensure that you receive copy of the trailer. If you do that, feel free to e-mail through [email protected] and I'll let people in the US that you'll be showing the trailer.

One such theatre that will be showing it is in the New England. It's called Chunky's, and you can visit their website here.

My advice to US fans is to contact your local cinema well in advance of Thursdays release of Die Another Day to see if they'll be showing the trailer!

I went to SW:ATOC opening night in La Grande, Oregon and it was great! The reaction seemed to be quite positive :) . The only problem with it, is that scenes flash by so fast that it's hard to take it all in (which is to be expected for a teaser, I'm not complaining). I'm sure glad I had someone tape the teaser for me off of TV the other day (from ET) so I could watch it in slow-mo! I'm ready to go see the movie now!

I've just had confirmation the Odeon Theatres across the United Kingdom will be showing the teaser trailer for Die Another Day when it premieres with Star Wars Episode II this Thursday. There are 107 Odeon cinemas throughout the United Kingdom, so hopefully there's one near you!

The Odeon have slated the trailer in the 'To Play' list of their trailers for Star Wars Episode II. We're told that the trailer won't be attached to the actual print of Episode II so other cinema chains may choose not to show it.

If you work for a cinema chain in any country and plan to play the trailer please e-mail through [email protected] and I'll make a mention in the news so that Bond fans can see the trailer on a big screen near them.

In regards to Pacific Fair, I was there back in January. Nice place. But damn, cinemas on the Gold Coast are strange. I went to one (wasn't Pacific Fair though) that was a Burcher and Carroll. Can't remember the shopping centre. But it was North of the main part of the Gold Coast and it was just so different to Victorian cinemas. Totally different layout, function etc...

Those "Bannana Benders" are a strange lot.:)

That's what us New South Welshmen call Queenslanders.

Here is the scoop on the DAD teaser in the US only:

The teaser WILL NOT be included with every print of Ep II. MGM is placing it in as many cans as possible. I called MGM today and asked about it, and my rep said he would make sure a teaser is put into my theater's copy of Ep II. So theater owners/managment/employees: call MGM and have them do the same! The rep was very thrilled that I specifically wanted the teaser. He said that MGM appreciates any extra publicity that we can give the movie.

I can tell you this after calling my Fox rep:

The following trailers come with Ep II:

Attached: Minority Report, Like Mike
Loose in can: Austin Powers in Goldmember, Men in Black 2, Matrix: Reloaded.

When I saw Ep II, both of the attached trailers were shown, so I am very confident that this is accurate info. Remember: theaters do not have to put loose trailers onto the movie. So a theater that gets the DAD trailer may not put it on. I would recommend calling your local cinema and requesting that the teaser be placed on Ep II if it is in the can.

I think it may have been the one near Sea World. If you travel down the Gold Coast Highway to near where you have to turn right to Sea World. From memory it's about 100 metres back from there. And yes, seeing we're probably talking about the same one, it wasn't very good. Unless you want to steal movie posters! When I saw one film I left about 11 at night and there was no one around. Walking out the lobby I couldn't see a soul.

I was thinking a tad more about the trailer news, and I can't see any reason for the trailer not to be showing.

For starters Fox would be fools not to attached a Die Another Day teaser to Star Wars AOTC. That's major advertising which equals major money!

And also the Cannes film festival will be hosting the James Bond special event two days later on the 18th. Surely you'd see a teaser trailer there, that would probably make the news I'm guessing. And we know they'll be showing the special event later in May on MTV. So if they had a trailer ready for the 18th then they'd have a lot of relatively free advertising during the month of May.

James, at the moment I'm in terrible trouble, because the download won't work. There comes the popup, an eternity later there comes the casino ad, then another link and then the classic error screen that the server does not answer. Reloading is also without a chance. What's going on? Too many hits?

A number of people have said that they are not surprised that an image of Bond dishevelled with long hair and beard does not appear in the teaser (and nether am I)

However, A teaser that JUST contained images from the "hand back" scene, as an appetite wetter for the new film, would have at least got people talking. Which is more than they are doing now.

I disagree with your last statement. Each time Star Wars plays at my theater, the whole room gets talking when they see the DAD teaser. You hear, "A new Bond movie! That looks awesome!" or "Sweet!" Not a single person is not excited about it. Same with the teaser poster in the lobby- people stop and look at it and say 'That looks really cool!" They don't do that for any other "Coming Soon" posters that we have. I think MGM did a good job in round 1, considering how many other trailers came with AOTC, including Fox's own movies. I bet by this weekend, with Enough, and Insomnia, and next weekend with The Sum of All Fears, the teaser will be wide spread. I have a copy of the teaser on reserve so that I can attach it to The Sum of All Fears in case it doesn't come with it. Also, don't forget that Windtalkers will probably be the first movie that has the teaser attached to it, forcing theaters to show it.

My first post since my self imposed exhile nearly two
weeks ago.

i saw episode II twice over the weekend in Toronto, Canada.

the teaser was not shown on either occasion.

PS

Upon seeing the teaser on Jamesbond.com several times, my six year old is looking forward to the movie...says the "SURFING
LOOKS REALLY COOL"....and, oh, the kid preferred Spidey to Star Wars although
liked them both! I did as well but thought the acting was better in Spidey but the action and intrigue at mid point in Star Wars made it more enjoyable.

i'll go a couple of times more to see Ep2 for the teaser...but will not go 7 times each as i did for GLADIATOR or The World Is Not Enough a few months before that!

Okay Rory what you've got there are the trailer shipping with Star Wars in the US. Now as I posted in the news in the US it's up to the theatre to request the trailer (as I'm hoping some have been clever enough to do!) I believe you'll probably see other trailers bar those (usually you'll get a fourth at least) so it might be Die Another Day.
