If I had downloaded that file when it was posted I'd throw you a link on my site but since I don't Sim I didn't bother with it. Hope you can find it elsewhere.

I don't know what to tell you I just downloaded the zip file and looked at the textures and they look fine to me. Maybe your viewer or editor is having trouble with the png files. I guess I could convert them all to BMP and you could convert back on your end
This is what I get Posted Image

Maybe he means this. You don't really need an SDK to skin just edit the png files and they show up in the game. As long as you get the folder and filenames correct and the location of the folders and files correct there shouldn't be a problem. An SDK will be needed for modeling and mapping though but I haven't seen one.

What is the SDK filename? I don't know what you have much less how to help you use it. Is it an official SDK or some kind of a fan/user made SDK .

Sorry, superracer! I haven't been browsing these forums lately..... If you'll just send me a PM with your e-mail address, I'll be glad to send it to you as soon as I fix it up!

P.S.
I closed my old site, that's why you weren't able to download it. My new site is: http://simpunks.techie.at/, but I don't have my Bond skin there.

Does anyone have any info on the MDL format? I was thinking of writing a import/export plug-in for Milkshape 3D.

I'm talking about the specs for the MDL file structure. If I can get this, I might be able to write a plug-in for Milkshape.

I contacted Gearbox and asked them about GearCraft. I told them if they abandoned the project that they could either tell us or keep working on it. I think we have a right to know if it is still in production. If you need any info about GearCraft, contact Gearbox Software at: [email protected]. Or contact me at [email protected].

I saw a post in the Gearbox forums by someone at Gearbox that said they'd love to release it, but it's up to EA. Someone emailed EA a while back and they said there were no plans to release the SDK.

That REALLY pisses me off. How would it hurt anything for Gearbox to release the SDK? It might even help them move a few more copies of the game since it's down to 15 bucks now. Alot of us chose the PC version largely because of the promise of the SDK.

EA truly is the MGM of game developers.

I too largely base buying a game on it's expansion abilities. I truly believe no game stands a chance without a good MP and tools. The single play game has gone the way of the dinosaurs. No One Lives Forever 2 is probably the best example of this. Dead at the gate it was resurrected by the improved MP and the release of the tools. You would think someone would get the hint by now (deleted rest)....

I still haven't gotten a ****ing response from Gearbox OR EA GAMES. I think they don't want to release it because they dont want fans like us to be happy. This ****ing pisses me off. I am planning to go to northern Californis. I may even go to Redwood City. If I am there, I will sure as Hell go to EA's HQ and ask them what the hell their problem is. (Sorry for all of the swearing! I'm just really freakin pissed at them! ;-D)

I understand how you feel. There are some games like Will Rock and BloodRayne where I feel the lack of tools are from a lack of concern for the community or just plain laziness but in the case of Nightfire I believe the reason is more complicated. There are a lot of legal issues dealing with the bond likeness ( Pierce to be exact ) as well as the name. Providing tools may very well constitute illegal reproduction of copyright work ( again refering to Pierce ). If his likeness was not used in the game then I'm sure it would be less of a hassle to get the tools out. There may be a few articles on the bond games legalities floating around the net. I think our only chance with this game are user made tools, other than that we can only skin existing models and no maps.

how do you change the texture of walls and change people? all of my work right now has been so unsuccessful. will they only work if you reinsert the root folder back into the assets file?

i have also been starting to design a new map for Nightfire. It is based on the Antennae cradle from Goldeneye. I have planned it and now i am starting to map it in the Valve Editor. It kinda sucks. but if i get it to work as an mp map in nightfire, i will let all of u know and maybe if u r lucky, i will make it available for download.

I don't know what to tell you. I just tried it again (moved on to other projects) and it work just fine. Follow these instructions I put up way back http://www.sparedlif...nd/SkinHelp.asp

just tried this skin:

Unlike Bloodrayne you do not have to re-insert back into the pack file to make it work. I wish more games were like Nightfire, no re-packing, no rezzing, no texture conversion. Take a look at the text file I have on my site it will tell you the exact folder names and structure you need. Another thing is your PNG editing software may not be making the right kind of PNG, you need a 24bit PNG. Make sure you are not changing the file name too. Can you send a copy of your PNG skin and I'll test it?
