if you take all the folders out of the root folder and place them in the bond folder, you can switch the models, but unfortunately, they take on the original texture.

(chair--->statue (chair switched with statue, but same chair texture.
sad isn't it? same with people

I swapped one model and the corresponding texture. I believe you just need to swap the names of the textures that go with the model you swap. For instance the 3rd person (NPC) male use the bond suit and the 3rd person (NPC) female uses Dom's texture, so if you swap the male for the female you need to swap Bonds suit for Dom's dress. Unfortunetly this example would mess up the Bond and Dom model textures. But if you use a chair for a statue then you have to find where that chairs texture is and rename it to the statue textures name.

Yes, I would like to at least see some command line model converter or map converter from HL to Nightfire. At least then we could play around in the Half-Life tools and then convert to NightFire. Even a reverse engineered command line program would be ok. At this point in Nightfires gaming life span anything would be good. I saw Nightfire bundled with 2 other games for 20 USD the other day.

Ok a little Status update on the Model Viewer.
It turns out the formats, tho similar, are completely different...

I'm seeing if I can decompress the MDL File and just transplant it into another file format...

Hope you get it toadie - I was hoping we could use Half-Life models in this game.

I tried a few things with the header and other parts but nothing good came of it. At least I didn't get terminated :)

can you make it so we can also use models from the sims, secret service (you'll have to fins the format), and C: DS 2: Back to Baghdad?

Here's what I've Tried and found So far:
* done a Raw HL MDL Decompile in Milkshape 3d, I got the bone structure out. That seems to be the only thing in the same place as the HL models.
* The header, thoug making it unrecognisable by modst model viewewr, is irrelevant to anything
* the intrernal layout of the NF model compared to a model of identical apperaence in HL is completely different after the end of Bone Structure.
* I'm trying to pry it open using some RLE compression algorythms. See if I can assimilate the rest of the data into a format similar to the HL format

I know you are putting a great effort forward on this. I hope it all works out. I may have to reinstall Nightfire and help.

I'm at it again, I just reverse engineered the "Enter The Matrix" textures. Most were easy but without a decent skinning tool the model skin library files are a bear.

I have almost all but only a few posted on my site.
Matrix Textures

I did manage to custom skin Niobe but it didn't work out as well as Nightfire did.

I'm not sure if anyone here is interested, but I made a skin (with the help of Spared Life's website) of Patrick McGoohan as Number Six from the old show The Prisoner.

It's available for download here:
http://www.freewebs....s/prizskin.html

I also tried to do one of Clive Owen, but the nose wound up on the wrong side of the fold.

That looks great and I thank you for the credit but really I had nothing to do with it. It's nice to see someone putting forth an effort with this game! It's really a good game to skin but I'm afraid there are only a couple of us interested. Always glad to add one more to the skinning credits.

nightfire has just been turned into 24: Operation Nightfire. I changed all the textures to look like the cast of FOX's 24 and I made new movies using Poser 5. It turned out great. i also changed all of the voices by collecting samples of the cast's and rewording them. i'll post some screens soon!

Amazing, what are you going to do with it? It's got to be to big to download. I can't wait to see this conversion, bring it on.

I have so many other projects in the works but you guys are forcing me to re-install the game. Maybe I'll chunk Jedi or Tomb Raider to get some room.

tomb raider? i'd get rid of it. plus, WE aren't forcing you to re-install the game. that's your choice. plus, i am currently trying to switch Nightfire models with Conflict Desert Storm II models. hopefully it works.

nightfire models to cds2 models was unsuccessful. I did however manage to create a new weapon for nightfire using the half-life sdk. the beretta. it's pretty big, but it replaces the kowloon.

i also managed to reduce the file size of 24. It is only 239 Mb. When my website is up and running, I'll put some files up for download. I will also try to put some videos and screens up too. hopefully it will be done in the next month or so.

How do you get the skins to work?
I want to replace the MI6 Tux guy with the generic Bond one but I can't get it too.
Can you post a step by step process of what to do please?

1. Make sure there is a folder called ROOT in your Nightfire\bond folder
2. Edit the skin files
3. Copy (DO NOT MOVE) the models folder to your Nightfire\bond folder
4. Try it ingame

DO NOT MOVE THE MODELS FOLDER BECAUSE INCASE YOU WANT TO CHANGE ANYTHING THIS IS YOUR BACKUP

What does this mean? What preference? Edit them how? Why?

Stop for a moment and realise that you are not talking to a geek who knows what you are talking about. Explain CLEARLY what I have to do, please.

if you want to make a skin file look different, you must use a picture editing software to change them (like adding scars, makeup, or different color eyes)

if you just want to replace the skin files, copy the new skin file into the bond\models\textures folder. then copy the file name of the texture you wish to replace. make sure you have copied it or written it down. then delete the old file and rename the new one. it will work.

Ok. I've downloaded the Alura&Zoe.exe to unpack the Assets.007 file but I can't get it to run. The intstructions aren't to clear so what exactly am I supposed to do? How do I run a command line or whatever on it?

Right click assets.007 and click "open with...". When the list of programs comes up, browse for another program (meaning find "Alura"). Once it's been added to the programs list, click "Open". It should unpack a folder called "ROOT"
