Roger always lit up the screen as 007, in all his seven adventures but for me my personal favorite would be -- For Your Eyes Only. I liked the more serious toned route it took, and it was a good improvement over Moonraker which was a very dull film. FYEO had some great action sequences and a nicely written plot, and filled with believable villains.

The Spy Who Loved Me is my favorite Roger Moore entry. All his other films were good too, except for Moonraker, that one really let me down.

Had to go with The Spy Who Loved Me. Connery, Moore and Brosnan each had a film with this basic premise and style (YOLT & TND respectively), but it suited Roger the best in my opinion! I just hope they leave it to rest a while with Craig, not his style at all. Great Bond film though, definitely one for the ages!

Not that any of Moore's movies are my ideal Bond film, if I must choose a favorite I would go with TSWLM followed by FYEO.

Mine is A View to a Kill. It was the first Bond movie that I saw and I've been hooked ever since.

I picked TSWLM and it only just beat out LALD. The later movies had abit too much slapstick moments in it and Roger was starting to look abit too old and tired in the later movies.

I stack 'em thus:

1. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY
Not Fleming. It's still silly, but it's toned down. I love Greece. Melina is great. Columbo is a joy.

2. LIVE AND LET DIE
Fun. Kotto is underrated.

3. MOONRAKER
I just enjoy it more than some others. It's filmed well, and it's lunacy is consisent.

4. OCTOPUSSY
A lot of potential, utterly ruined by sillyness.

5. THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN
At least Lee is good.

6. THE SPY WHO LOVED ME
I generally abhor this one. Don't see the attraction.

7. A VIEW TO A KILL
Blech.

My personal favorite is LALD. Rog + David Hedison + Jane Seymour + Paul McCartney's vocals = a winning combination.

Plus, I used to live near the Caribbean, so...

1. THE SPY WHO LOVED ME
Best of the Moore 007 films.

2. LIVE AND LET DIE
Lots of fun...one of my most frequently watched 007 films.

3. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY
The most serious Moore film.

4. MOONRAKER
Outlandish fantasy but a fun ride.

5. THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN
Bond girl/Pepper is weak but Scaramanga makes up for it.

6. OCTOPUSSY
Boring in most aspects...silly in others.

7. A VIEW TO A KILL
Not much to say....Walken is good though.

Have to vote for The Spy who Loved Me. After rewatching the Moore era, I'm actually inclined to think that it is miles and miles ahead of the other films for quality. The line when they are in the van and Jaws is trying to get in, the calmness and "Can you play any more tunes on that?" are a great part of the film.

As of today, Spy still reigns as my favourite with LALD and FYEO fighting for second place. Then I like OP, MR, TMWTGG and AVTAK.

Octopussy was the one I most enjoyed him in. He has a plethora of quips and witty lines that make me laugh every time. Silly movie, yes, but I have to say he was pretty awesome in it. I'd also say that my next one was For Your Eyes only, seemed pretty dark and he was pretty bad [censored] in it, imo. I'd rank them as follows

1)OP
2)FYEO
3)TSWLM
4)MR
5)LALD
6)TMWTGG
7)AVTAK

I'd have to choose "Octopussy" as the best Roger Moore film, as well. When you think about it, most of Moore's films were crap: "TMWTGG," "Moonraker," "AVTAK," and, to a lesser extent, "TSWLM," which I feel has a bloated reputation it doesn't deserve (for basically being a remake of a film released ten years prior). But Moore is definitely in his element in this one. He was still finding his footing as Bond in the first two, and "TSWLM" and "MR" are in no way marred by his performance, but rather by the quality of the films themselves. "FYEO" is his first strong film, and I like the fact that they decided to play up the "aged" agent angle (rather than when it was originally planned to bring Timothy Dalton on board).

But "FYEO" suffers because of its pacing, poor music (though this seems a bit of a point of contention) and a somewhat weak Bond girl. "OP," however, strikes a perfectly even balance between grim Cold War intentness and bizarre, flavorful comedy. Moore looked depressingly horrible in "AVTAK" and the film was hurt by the fact that no one could possibly believe that Sir Roger was doing any of his own stunts, i.e., the fire engine chase. There's nothing too outrageous like that in "OP," wherein most of the action scenes are either vehicle-based (New Delhi chase, "riding the rails,") or work around the problem of blatant stunt double usage by employing more tightly-edited close-ups of Bond, such as during the safari pursuit and on the plane fight in the finale.

Sounds like you pretty much don't like the Moore era at all.

My choice:
Octopussy

Nope, that's not true. "LALD," "OP," and "FYEO" rank amongst some of my favorite Bond films. And Moore himself is my favorite Bond just after Dalton. But there was a handful of films, including "TSWLM," "TMWTGG," "MR," & "AVTAK" that, for the most part, I could do without. However, they all possess their own uniquely strong qualities, and I must add that think you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who truly enjoys "AVTAK."

And i think calling most of Rogers bonds crap is a bit of an exaggeration, well at least in my opinion.

Well, "TMWTGG," "MR," and "AVTAK" are some of the worst Bond films, in my opinion. I don't think there's anyone who regards those as some of the "best."

You'll always find at least one person (and sometimes many more) who'll give you plenty of reasons why this film... or that film... is the best in the series--even if it typically regarded as a lesser entry in the series.
