I've just bought Live and Let Die on DVD, let's see how I will like it now. It was a while since I saw it.

It's a fantastic film, and the DVD has some of the best special features.

TSWLM was always one of my favorites...Though I almost feel a little guilty, sitting at my computer, watching the dvd and cheering as Roger's Union Jack parachute is unfurled, considering I am American... hahaha. Oh well, it's a great movie.

AVTAK

A film with a lot of great action. Especially the golden gate fight. But the fight on the horse was great as well. BRILLIANT actors and nice locations are other good things about the film. :)

Let me throw out this caveat first. All Bond movies rock! But in regards to Roger Moore's take on Bond, I feel the further he went into the series the more (no pun intended) slapstick and silly they became. So Live and Let Die gets my vote.

I love them all. All 7 are great in my book. But there's just something about Live and Let Die. Maybe it's because Roger was younger and more well smart :). The film itself is so smart :) and it's just classic.

I love them all too, but I'd go for TSWLM and OP

Hi everyone i'm new here.

I voted for live and let die but it could have really been any of them.I'm a huge fan of the Roger Moore movies.I find them all rewatchable and the're never far from my dvd player,i cant really say that about the others in the series even though i'm very fond of them.

My own personal list goes like this

1.live and let die
2.Moonraker
3.For your eyes only
4.A view to a kill
5.The spy who loved me
6.Octopussy
7.The man with the golden gun

I still cant believe what negitive press A view to a kill gets and it all seems to revolve around Roger Moore's age.

Funny but it never seems to be a problem in Never say never again for Sean Connery, who in my opinion looks as old as the hill's.Not to take anything away from him.I thought he was great in that film.

The only down side of the film for me was Beach boys cover of Californian girls at the begining of the film which spoils any tension that was built up.

The scence on the Golden gate bridge is expertly handled and edited,a classic Bond moment!

I actually love the Beach Boys moment. I think it's fab. The one major downside to the film for me is the sub-plot (if you can call it that) concerning the Pepper-esque San Franciso police chief, who coupled with his dimwit minions just isn't funny at all.

The police featured in A View To A Kill are far worse than those in Diamonds Are Forever. One of the weakest points of A View To A Kill and the whole series.

You are in good company Brett. Bond author John Brosnan (who wrote one of my bibles 'THE JAMES BOND FILMS: A BEHIND THE SCENES HISTORY' wrote in his 1985 review of the movie (printed in 'Starburst') that Moore looked more youthful in AVTAK than he had two years prior in OP.

Of course Brosnan is a big airship fan so the review is overall a positive one for the movie, even if he does whitter on and on about the type of airship used etc etc...

Which is kinda odd when you consider it was one of the DVDs in the initial wave (of three) that hit the stores on Oct. 19, 1999.

I remember that day well - I was in 007 heaven wading through the DVD special features :)

Indeed, I remember that bunch of seven. Was nice having two audio commentaries on some of them.

In fact all of the first wave had two audio commentaries. For some reason they decided to drop this for the second and third wave and instead gave us an additional documentary instead.

In two minds as to which I prefer.

I agree. Depends on which film it is for me, and what the documentary centers about, and also the commentaries.

It's funny, after thinking about Roger's films, I like them best in the order he made them. LALD maybe my favorite Bond film. Having been to New Orleans and New York City makes it a lot easier to relate to than most Bond films. JW Pepper reminds me of several real life people down here in Dixie! :)

Nothing wrong with cheering on that scene. I never saw it in the theater (my first 007 theater experience was MOONRAKER in 1979), but I hear that one scene had audiences all over the world standing up and applauding.

I firmly believe without a doubt that For Your Eyes Only was Roger Moore's best Bond film. It wasn't a ridiculous over the top film that we have seen in his prior films and was in the spirit of Ian Fleming. It showed that Moore could play a more serious Bond and he seemed to be running for his life the whole film. Everything was top notch from the acting, directing, sountrack to locations. I agree with many others that The Spy Who Loved Me was a good film too but it was too far from reality to be considered a real Bond film. I vote for FYEO as the best Moore film AND one of the best in the entire series too.

Up to that point it was the best pretitles sequence of the series.

While grand in style, alot of fans that I've seen post on this topic always seem to go to The Spy Who Loved Me instead of Moonraker for some reason.
