Among Bond fans its not surprising to see FYEO doing so well. Its in my Top 5 of all-time favorite Bond movies.

My favorite Moore movies don't seem to be the ones that everyone else likes. I tend to lean toward AVTAK, OP & MR. I like the other ones too, but those three top my list. I like AVTAK's villains (mainly Zorin), OP's settings (and Bond-girls), and MR's.... uniqueness. :)

I'm an AVTAK fan too. I think a lot of people are. I think it's just one of those films where people either love or hate it, so there's bound to be more intense discussion about the film than say...OP, who most people have at least a healthy respect for but would never view it as their ultimate Bond film.

Having been a Moore-Fan for the last 26 years,
I thought that I'd throw my 2 cents worth in here!. :)

1. MOONRAKER
2. THE SPY WHO LOVED ME
3. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY
4. OCTOPUSSY
5. THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN
6. LIVE AND LET DIE
7. A VIEW TO A KILL

TSWLM and MR, are always fighting it out for my top spot,
but I usually cave, and give it to MR,
probably because of it being the first one I saw at the cinema.

I prefer Moonraker over The Spy Who Loved Me. I think everything works better in Moonraker. Venice, Rio, and the Amazon jungle are used much better than Egypt and are certainly more fun and interesting than Sardenia. Moore improves in Moonraker and his performance is stronger than TSWLM. Holly Goodhead is a stronger character than Anya and no offense to DLIBRASNOW. Also I think Drax is more believable than Stromberg especially with his line "look after Mr. Bond. See that some harm comes to him." I also think Moonraker has more fun with its action sequences which are more memorable, which dealt away with the irritation many critics had in the 70s towards TSWLM's action which they all argued never lives up to the ski chase, and after that ski jump the film's action goes downhill according to them and the sources. TSWLM also has a plot hole because we never find out whose going to live in Stromberg's underwater city, and thankfully Moonraker fixes this mistake and is more clearly written and thought out. Lastly, I know Jaws was a terrific baddy in TSWLM but Moonraker's use of Jaws is not a complete copy of "Spy." You have to give them credit, they tried something new with Jaws and made him more human.

Very well said. I'm glad to know I'm not alone in my thinking TSWLM isn't a sacred cow that has to be worshipped.

The Man with the Golden Gun, hands down. It's not only the best Roger Moore film, it's the best James Bond film. Scaramanga is my all-time favorite Bond villian, hence my username. And I thought Rodg had a rather sexy approach to his role, more than his other films, I think. Expecially towards that girl with the charm (I forgot her name...). Goodnight wasn't a great Bond girl, but Andrea Anders was pretty good. And Nick Nack was funny.

Pretty sure you could have changed your email address on your original account, but no matter now as you seem to be fine with this one.

Just an FYI.

None taken :)
Actually I do like Lois Chiles a lot and think she is a very underrated Bond girl.

But, Barbara Bach as Anya is hands-down my all-time favorite Bond girl.

I too miss the fun of Roger's era. For me, he was the best JB. I wish the new Bond could be moore in Roger's style.

Barbara Bach is my favorite Bond girl. And she's still hot.

TSWLM makes the 70's seem cooler than the 60's. I didn't think that was possible.

questions though:

Why is LALD the odd duck? No tuxedo?
Why is OP so hard for me to remember? No plot?
Why is AVTAK holding it's own? Walken? (i will just have to rent it one more time)
Why is TMWTGG so hated? Sheriff plus dwarf too much?

My favorite movie is For your eyes Only ! I think it is one of the best. Like Russia and OHMSS. Its a nostalgic movie. tracy's death, blofeld's revenge, revenge theme and a good type of villains. Kristatos could be better but the movie is great. Is a real fleming bond. :)

Choosing Moonraker as my favorite Moore Bond film doesn't exactly mean that it is the best on my book. The Spy Who Loved Me is the superior of them all. Both Live And Let Die & The Man With The Golden Gun feel very empty (although the latter is fun to watch at times). For Your Eyes Only & Octopussy were highly entertaining movies and they're definatley on the top list. A View To A Kill, while fun and very well produced, has some nitpicks out of this raging fan.

Moonraker was the first 007 that I saw. Hence, it got into my moonlight trailed system. I'll never forget those repeated viewings, wich led to buying or renting the Moore filography and, subsequently, the entire Bond franchise.
So I owe a lot to the 11th actioneer of the series.

Moore was the man then and I think his departure in the rol was inevitably due. It's a shame he didn't go for any mainstream films after 1985. At least I've got from Spy to Kill to go back and enjoy the good old times! :)

Well, my favourite of the Moore movies is "The Spy Who Loved Me". I think it's great! I also really like "For Your Eyes Only" , and I have a bit of a soft spot for "Moonraker" as it's the first Bond film I think I ever saw.
My least favourite of Moore's movies in a "A View To A Kill". It blows.
