It made up for all those Moore/Dalton years where it was barely used at all (and even then, it was only used in ridiculous action moments).

It has a somewhat slick feel that I feel was lacking in his following three. It sticks out for how different it is to his others, eg. the score. I rank the tank chase higher than the motorbike chase, Q boat chase also - but that is just me.
Take the parahawk chase for instance in TWINE, lacks any real tension (come on, you miss Bond with machine gun at that close?)
Shame Brosnan's other Bond's didnt follow with the character development, although it was minor was interesting. This came from a great villain from Bean.

after that the franchise became very cheesy and the villains a bit impotent and unconvincing.

I think TND just edges GE because Brosnan had settled into the role and the music is better.
I love the PTS of TWINE - probably my favourite PTS of the whole series.

What was your specific opinion on Elliot Carver, if I may ask?

The World Is Not Enough - I don't know why, maybe it's the "the villain is a WOMAN" angle, maybe it's the opening sequence, maybe it's the BMW Z8 (damn you BMW for not releasing it in the States - as if I could ever afford one, but DAMN YOU NONETHELESS!) or maybe it's Garbage's theme song (HI SHIRLEY!)
Die Another Day - Although I think this entire film is totally inappropriate for a 40th Anniversary commemoration, there ARE moments in it which I found enjoyable. I can't think of a single one at the moment, but I WAS able to get through the entire DVD recently, so there must be something of value in there. I'll let you know what it is when I think of it. Or not.
Tomorrow Never Dies - Michelle Yeoh must be rolling in her grave. I KNOW SHE'S NOT DEAD. THE STATEMENT STANDS. Jonathan ****ing Pryce, good lord.

jonathan pryce had zero mallice and dont forget we in the UK hear his voice-overs on every other TV commercial so it all lessened his already weak impact.
richard briers would have been more suitable !

Still Goldeneye by far, but I'm warming to the many positives of The World is not Enough - It makes for an easy runner up.
Wow, talk about a momentary lapse of judgment... *blushes*

It sets the stage for a new era of Bond--a new set of actors and actresses for characters, a new world for Bond, a new type of warfare, and a new generation of Bond fans.
The storyline, while not without its holes, is very symmetrical and has a very poetic, almost chiastic feel. The chiastic traits can be seen in more than just the plot's structure; it is evidenced in the characterst themselves. We have Bond and Trevelyan at the center of the chiasmus, each representing their respective sides. Spreading out from them is the Natalya-Xenia (good girl-bad girl) dynamic. Fanning out further is the Grishenko-Wade (foil for the villain-foil for the hero) duo accompanied by Ourumov-Zukovsky (enemy from the past-ally from the past).
The film has one of my favorite M vs. Bond dialogues ("sexist, misogynist dinosaur"), and arguably the best tension between Miss Moneypenny and James ("make good on your innuendos").
DAD is at the bottom of my list, not because of Brosnan but because of the disappointment I felt as the movie shifted from the gritty spy thriller to the epic fantasy adventure.
I must say, however, that Brosnan's performance in the first 45 minutes of the film was superb. For that period of time, I was convinced that this man had created the role of James Bond.

There is no doubt that DAD is the worst Brosnan film.
