Who knows, there could be an April Dancer cameo in there. Then again, I think GFU was one of those areas a lot of fans consider it a comedown and shunned. Kind of like the way Emma Peel is always the focus in all things Avengers and never Tara King.

A little something I put together. (Saul Bass inspired again obviously and the existing trailer) with an added sequence I loved from the trailer. Hope you like it.

Here's a re-edit of the trailer using Goldsmiths original TV theme.

I love that! Reminds me of the excellent Raymond Chandler re-issues by Penguin:

The trailer looks promising. I can see Henry Cavill making a fine James Bond. He's not my top choice for Bond #7 but he is on the short list. Hopefully the rest of the film (and Cavill's performance) is as good as the trailer.

On a side note, is it me or does anyone else get a Michael Weatherly (NCIS) vibe from Cavill--particularly in the gray suit?

It's weird, I'd never think of Weatherly as Bond, and I can easily see Cavill as Bond, and yet I see Weatherly in Cavill. Odd.

For anyone interested in the original show, this website, originally established in late 1996, has reviews of all 105 episodes, The Girl From UNCLE and The Return of the Man From UNCLE.

https://uncleepisode....wordpress.com/

One of the pages includes connections between 007 and UNCLE. It has been updated extensively because of the movie. A number of crew members also worked on Bond movies.

Bryce, how do you feel about the new film from the trailer?

Well, it feels right. Doing as a period piece and the look are the smart move. Both the guys look good in their respective roles.

Also, the technology of UNCLE was always cool because it was ahead of it's time. Now in films, everything is mobile phones and laptops. I want communicator pens and custom carbine pistols. Fists, wits and being able to find a pay phone were the tradecraft of the era. Also the fashions both for the guys and the girls is stylish and fun.

If the script and story sweeps us along, then I think it will be a hoot. *fingers crossed* and just get the theme music in there along with an equally evocative score for the time.

"Open Channel D" and bring it on!

In a new interview with Cavill we just learned that indeed Solo is a thief as indicated in the trailer. Quote: Solo, a postwar art thief-turned-Cold War agent, is the dapper playboy – who Cavill describes as “an arsehole with a heart” – working alongside Soviet spying machine Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer in the film, David McCallum when it was on TV). It’s Solo’s look that inspired the shoot. Cavill likes this.

That miniseries was not the worst thing I've ever seen, but it was basically just glimpses of the original 'Prisoner' through a 'Lost' lens...

Unfortunately Larry I doth protest that assertion!!!! It was the worst thing I'd ever seen!!!

I didn't bother with the series, since the worst thing about it was that I think it helped kill Christopher Nolan's planned-for feature version. He had the writers of TWELVE MONKEYS (one of whom re-wrote BLADE RUNNER into its final form) on it, so the pedigree was astonishingly good. Of the ten or twelve scripts I'd most like to see for unmade films, I'd put both that and the Christopher McQuarrie version of THE PRISONER (which was done back in the 90s) at the top of the list, along with STAR TREK PLANET OF THE TITANS.

Would love to have seen any of the drafts for CHILDHOOD'S END, too, which nearly got made as a miniseries around 35 years ago, and Harlan Ellison's BUG JACK BARRON from Norman Spinrad's fine novel. (Ellison wrote a terrific script called FLINTLOCK as an unmade pilot for an OUR MAN FLINT series that is equal parts Flint and The Prisoner -- it's smart and funny and in-character as hell.)
