That design of suit in the top picture looks familiar
Saw the poster in a feature on the Spy Command page and was unimpressed with it and the tagline. Doesn't mean I don't have hopes for this project. Does the Kuriyakin character wear that hat the entire film?

Looks fun. Enough to get us through, as the late summer months drag towards SPECTRE's release date.

Looks passable. I didn't realize Guy Ritchie was directing it. Should have some fun moments.

Looks like a fun Saturday at the movies... I'm in.

Very entertaining. I prefer it vastly to the "Kingsman"-trailers. And Cavill... yeah, very different from his "Man of Steel" - and I could imagine him as Bond with no hesitation.

I was hoping they'd have included a re-working of the classic theme tune...I loved that.
But I have to say it looks a harmless bit of 60s spy fun, and nice to see they've not made it modern and retained that charm.
I think Cavill nails the Robert Vaughn playboy/hitman vibe in Solo perfectly, and it looks better than I'd hoped. Hope it fairs well on release.

Vaughn's Solo was just so calm and laid back though(even when under a torture device or waving a gun in someone's face) Cavill just looks like he likes himself a lot.

I suppose he's had to include some of that ego as it's a prequel of sorts, so hopefully he will flow better as the film goes on.
Don't care much for Hugh Grant though, what a mong.

It's interesting you say that about Cavill, Secret - I'm extremely puzzled by "Cavill as Bond." I might have bought it in '06 but not now. I don't dislike the idea, but I just don't see it as a slam-dunk.
As for UNCLE.....mmmm. Still not sure if there's a market out there for this one (especially with Kingsman getting the early lead in the spy-spoof category). Films inspired by 60s shows (and I'm old enough to have lapped up the endless summer holiday morning showings of UNCLE in 70s London!) have been a little hit-and-miss when re-booted. For every Fugitive, there's a host of Avengers (a gloriously missed opportunity IMHO), Mod Squad, Wild Wild West, and mini-series Prisoner.
As for UNCLE, I don't know - do you reboot, reintroduce, or remake? Or do you even bother? For me, the show was Vaughn and McCallum and that unique chemistry and style they had while surrounded by wooden sets, interchangeable blondes, and over-emoting villains. So unless you go the Starksy and Hutch route and go strictly for laughs, I do worry we might have another Avengers on our hands, where we discovered that you can't replicate or reproduce the mix and style (MacNee, Blackmon, Rigg, music, puns) that only flourishes over the extended run of a TV show.
I'm not excited or down on it all, I'm just looking on with curiousity.......

Cavill mustered more charisma in this short trailer, than in all his previous roles put together. Good for him (and Ritchie), this looks to be a lot of fun.

I'll probably pass on this one. Was wanting to see a trailer to see if they could get me interested in the film after the Tom Cruise version of it fell apart, but based on the trailer it looks like Netflix rental at best.

After seeing the trailer I'm officially excited. It just had a fun vibe to it I think would work, especially as it's in Ritchie's hands. Don't have any interest in this Kingsman thing. Got to see the first Spectre bit and now bring on MI5's teaser. It's going to be a fun year in spyland.

Whatever it turns out to be I'm glad they made it a period piece. Would have hated to see updated to these troubled times.

How would they have updated it? Have Napoleon Solo have to team up with a member of ISIS or Al Qaeda to take down THRUSH?

Trailers out, look okay. Cavill can't get rid of that wooden smugness.
His Robert Vaughn impression makes him slightly less wooden, but he definitely doesn't have the same amount of charisma as the original Solo!
I'm surprised that this actually looks like a fun, decent film.

I'm much more excited for this now that Tom Cruise isn't in it... 'Edge of Tomorrow' was good enough, but Tom Cruise doesn't "grab me."

It does look fun, and I'm glad they've made it a period piece. Although I think the orange and teal look is dull.

Well, he could still team up with a Russian (Putin's making Russians be the bad guys again), but I would have hated for Solo be an ex marine who fought in the Middle East conflicts before becoming a spy.

Nice TV spot also - I wouldn't say no to Cavill taking on the PPK.

There seem to be a few 60's spy spoofs around at the moment.

Yes.
2015 is kind of a spymania revival: Kingsman, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Mission: Impossible 5 and SPECTRE. If these films all do well, I wonder if we'll hear rumblings of new takes on The Saint and The Prisoner.

NO! No one should subject us to another attempt to ruin 'The Prisoner'!
That miniseries was not the worst thing I've ever seen, but it was basically just glimpses of the original 'Prisoner' through a 'Lost' lens...
But I just realized after looking at this thread again: where is April Dancer!? Maybe they're saving her so the sequel can be: 'The Man From UNCLE 2: The Girl From UNCLE Affair'!
