Indeed, Jesper will be back. A small thing but really goes a long way in strengthening the Craig era as a whole.

Here's a suggestion - what if Waltz is a read herring and Mr White is Blofeld who has built SPECTRE from the remains of Quantum? Would explain the interest in Bond and allow them to have had Blofeld right in front of you the whole time (even when the rights where...iffy)

Potentially, but I know which actor I'd rather remember as Blofeld when I look back at these films.

I think White will remain White, and serve as an indicator of the old guard being replaced by the new broom. I like White because he has the ability to adapt to situations and keep a cool head, eg. remaining seated during Tosca. For someone like him to be spooked by Blofeld would speak volumes.

That's the thing. The origins of SPECTRE really dictate a few things in this plot.

I doubted it too, but Christensen has now told Danish media that he is indeed in the film, and he's looking forward to it. Perhaps he noted the success of SKYFALL and changed his tune.I'm doubting Mr White will be invited back, particularly looking at the actors previous comments.

He's the sort of character which comes in and out of the plot with sporadic appearances, but I'm hoping Jesper gets a decent amount of screentime. He's good value.

Quantum, I felt, had great potential and a cool name but Forster and the strikes and everything messed them up big time.
With a 7 year....7 YEAR...break since 'QOS' and the might of Mendes and this new Bond family, I reckon Quantum will be in good hands however they're represented here and I reckon most of their involvement in 'QOS' will be forgotten and any cryptic message will be around 'CR'.

I'm looking at Mr White's involvement from a different perspective. Not as competition to SPECTRE, nor as a traitor to them, but as probably the only asset worth subsuming from Quantum into SPECTRE. Or perhaps as SPECTRE's man in Quantum from the outset. Consider; as is pointed out above, he's the only senior Quantum figure who kept his cool and stayed put when all about were fleeing the opera house in QoS, thereby blowing the organisation. Also, he appears to be Quantum's chief enforcer, the one who shot Le Chiffre and in that unused ending in QoS was about to execute Guy Haines. He doesn't strike me as a man who is afraid of anyone, and I recall a line from the novel Thunderball in which Blofeld praised the man, Number 7, who deflected attention from the hapless Number 12 before he was electrocuted - "this was a good man with good nerves". So is Mr White. The kind of man Blofeld might employ.
Quantum's blown, but I can see Blofeld, or whoever, taking on White as a useful right hand man - after all he "has people everywhere" - and Bond being somewhat surprised at his reappearance after all this time, when he must have assumed Quantum was a dead duck and White was just dead.
(And as for the cryptic message from Bond's past, it might be to do with the events in CR or even QoS, but the name "Oberhauser" makes me think the event from Bond's past might go further back than that.)

Been thinking about that too. The message could be: Phone rings - Bond picks it up (of course, it's gotta be Sony's latest gee whizz thing) - "Mr Bond...? We need to talk." - But White misses the shot which comes after that, and gets killed by Bond. End of PTS.
But then again, that's not really that cryptic...

Confirmation of Mr White's return.
"MI6 followed up with Christensen - who was absent from "Skyfall" - for confirmation. Staunchly silent on any plot details, the actor did confirm his involvement in the 24th James Bond adventure, now known as "SPECTRE". "

Exactly what I've been thinking. The PTS is Bond in pursuit or stalking someone and it turns out to be White and Bond takes him out. Sort of reminiscent of the DAF PTS.
Yeah, I like that notion. After all this time, White is the last remaining Quantum member and Bond's been on him for a while. It is one score he'd like to be the one to settle.

Anybody else hoping that Bond and White have to team up to defeat the common enemy (and far greater threat) SPECTRE? Or is that too reminiscent of X2: X-Men United?
Posted 05 December 2014 - 10:44 PM
Perhaps White will surrender himself to MI6 out of fear for this new organization that has taken over the remnants of Quantum, but he's killed before he can spill much of the beans.

I just rewatched the SPECTRE meeting in Thunderball. Electric chair for Mr. White perhaps?
What about a method that's never been done before? Maybe swarm of Japanese hornets, Box Jellyfish or Brazilian wandering spiders?

Yes to all of those. We need the exotic back. Just like they did with the komodo dragons. Maybe a giant squid?

This is kind of what I'm thinking will happen. Bond and MI6 have destroyed Quantum more or less, but a few stragglers remain. Mr. White is the one who sends the cryptic message to MI6 in an attempt to stop SPECTRE which has supplanted Quantum (I also kind of think the two organizations are NOT connected). Then Mr. White is either offed or Bond is forced to resort to using Quantum to help him fight the far more sinister and evil SPECTRE.

Couldn't have said it better. I believe Mr. White is now going to the MI6 and Bond for help with SPECTRE. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out, but I think cryptic message is more in line with Bond's mission past (CR and QOS) and not necessarily his childhood per se. I'm interested in seeing what happens between Quantum and SPECTRE and if they're enemies or allies, or rather, the same organization.

Try as I might, I just can't imagine Mr White and Bond being on the same side. I still see the character as the loyal, efficient functionary of a villainous higher authority, whoever or whatever that may be.
But I'm prepared to be proved wrong.
Posted 06 December 2014 - 01:50 AM
Perhaps Mr White could try to cut a deal with MI6, but M gives him the cold shoulder... "I don't negotiate with a man who tried to kill myself my predecessor". I'd welcome a nod to what happened to Dench's M in QUANTUM OF SOLACE.

Something akin to a witness protection programme plus financial reward.
Here's your new details, Mr. White. You can choose from this list of names and professions. Colonel Mustard, Reverend Green or Professor Plum. We would offer you the name Mr. Black, but we haven't had much luck with those who have taken that identity.

You're probably right, however there may be a chance that SPECTRE is planning on doing something so cruel and dreadful even he thinks it's to wicked. Like something that would directly hurt many innocent people. And it's simply to much, even for him.

I'm convinced we're building up to a somewhat plausible scenario where Craig's Bond will have to save the world, something that hasn't been done yet during his tenure. I believe the terrible truth behind SPECTRE will be based around some concept of world domination.
I agree. Perhaps saving the world could amount to averting a conflict, ala SPECTRE capturing the space shuttles in YOLT. Something which agitates countries into taking action upon each other.
