Interesting thought Sharpshooter, I would be quite upset if it turned out 9 and 10 never existed though. It would throw a right spanner in the works.

They wouldn't do that. Moffat and Davies (I would imagine) care more about the sanctity of the show's unique structure than to just dismiss any Doctors on a whim.

I'm a bit curious as to how, if at all, they'll approach the subject of twelve regenerations/thirteen lives. What with this being Doctor 11 and all...

I'm curious about that as well.

If my concept was realised, they could push it back to 9. If this came to pass, I think it would be the best regeneration ever and it would become an important piece of Who history.

It's wouldn't just be another regeneration in the vein of absorbing a lethal dose of energy - it would have everlasting effects. I mean, how noble is it to restore Gallifrey and the Time Lords knowing that you must sacrifice yourself in the process? A ton more noble that that rumour Jim told us about. It wouldn't be like the 9th and 10 Doctors didn't exist, they did. They had to exist so that Gallifrey would be restored.

And as I said earlier, his companions and the Time Lords would still remember what happened and who they were. After regeneration, that Doctor is effectively dead anyway. He might remember pieces of his past self vaguely, but apart from that - gone.

What made you come up with this idea, sharpshooter? Do you have an uncle who works at the BBC story department, or something like that? B)

Oh, no. Nothing more than a fanboy passing the time with potential regeneration scenarios. Good idea though, right?

If they've got any sense they'll just ignore it. It could be argued that he's already regenerated more than twelve times anyway.

UGO: And what of this talk of a Doctor Who movie?

Russell: Oh yes. No, sadly it's the internet running out of control. It ran so out of control that my agent's assistant thought that I was writing a film and put it on the website and I was like, trust me I've got plenty of other work to do! But I think it will happen one day, just because people keep talking about it, and the fact that they keep talking about it means there must some interest, somewhere. So not right now, but I think it could exist because back in the nineteen sixties, they made two films that were spin-offs from the television series and they're still repeated on British television to this day. I think one day, the public good will will simply summon a film into existence!

Two and a half hours of the Doctor vs Bogeymen instead of a one-off episode of half the length?

Athena007 is in that panel as we speak. She actually camped out on the street overnight, so she's right up front. Girl loves her some David Tennant!

OMG...

10.16am: Cut to brief preview reel of clips from David's final episodes as the Doctor. A voiceover mentions "bad dreams". Shots of Wilfred and Donna, and a man wearing a black hood. "His name is the master," says the voiceover and John Simm is revealed (with blond hair). "He returns". Final caption says: "The end of time. Christmas 2009."

$5 says this is on youtube within the next forty minutes.

Even though it's kind of old news I can't help but be excited by:
10.58am: RTD says the voiceover man from the clip we saw was Timothy Dalton. DT adds: "John Simm's coming back though, eh?"

I wonder if, the title for the last special is The End Of Time.

10.52am: RTD asked if he will continue with Torchwood. "I hope so. We were astonished by the success of that last series. I really, really hope so. I can't give you a promise because I haven't had the meetings with the right people yet. Also there's a recession going on. It will be back, but maybe the ones you want back won't be back. It will be back in some shape or form."

According to some googling, Timothy will be in both the finale and the Waters of Mars. Wonder just how prominent he'll be in Waters, though. Could just turn up at the end as set up for the finale, or maybe he's in it for the haul.

11.03am: Scratch that, a bonus preview clip from The Waters Of Mars. Fast paced. The Doctor: "Certain moments in time are fixed. This place on Mars, what happens here, must always happen." Lindsay Duncan: "Don't even touch it, not one drop."

The End Of Time Preview - From Comic Con:
We see the planet Earth from space, with the sun coming out behind it, and Timothy Dalton's voice purrs: "It is said that in the final days of the planet Earth, everyone had bad dreams." And then we see weird laughing faces, followed by David Tennant looking quite perturbed. We see glimpses of Wilf, Donna, Donna's mother, and an African man in a suit, all looking very serious. And there's a scary snake-faced creature. And then there's a figure in a dark hoodie lurking ominously. Dalton narrates: "He returns." We catch a glimpse of Ood Sigma, the Ood who told the Doctor his song was ending. And then the Doctor standing in the background, with the guy in a hoodie in the foreground. And then the hoodie comes off, and it's John Simm with his hair weirdly bleached! His voice comes: "My name is the Master." And then a title comes on the screen: "THE END OF TIME." And the Doctor walks forward with flames in the background, his face looking smoky and serious. And the title says "CHRISTMAS 2009." And the crowd goes wild.

Waters Of Mars Preview - From Comic Con:
We see images of a Martian base, with lots of somewhat primitive Earth tech including flashing buttons. The base is sort of cross-shaped, with modules sticking out at various points. The Doctor says, "Certain moments in time are fixed. Everything else is in flux. Anything can happen. But there are certain moments that must stand." We see images of the people in the Mars base going about their business, and then the weird water zombie thing starts, with people turning into water and getting the scabby reptilian faces. "This time and place on Mars, what happens here, must not be changed," the Doctor adds. And then we see more of the watery monster panic. And then the Doctor, in a different scene, explains that whatever this thing is, it doesn't just hide in water — it creates water. And if the humans take it back to Earth, it's all over. "Any one of us could be infected," says a blonde woman. More scenes of chaos and havoc as the base starts to fall apart. And then the Doctor stands in his orange spacesuit (from "The Satan Pit") with flames behind him. In his most dramatic voice, he says to the blonde woman, "It doesn't end here and now — because I don't hear anyone knocking, do you?" And then there are four brutal, loud knocks. And the titles say "THE WATERS OF MARS."
