kaiserthegreat, a commando battle is when an army (usually American) battles against the villain's henchmen, the former usually led by Bond. We've seen this in the following Bond films:
- Goldfinger (the U.S. army fighting Goldfinger's Chinese henchmen in and around Fort Knox)
- Thunderball (Bond leads U.S. 'frogmen' against SPECTRE's frogmen)
- You Only Live Twice (Bond leads the ninjas against SPECTRE's henchmen)
- On Her Majesty's Secret Service (Bond and Draco lead Draco's men against Blofeld's at Piz Gloria)
- The Spy Who Loved Me (Bond leads the kidnapped British, Russian and American submarine crews in battle against Stromberg's men)
- Moonraker (Col. Scott & the air force wage a laser battle against Drax's men)
- The Living Daylights (Bond leads the mujaheddin against the villains' men)
We were originally supposed to see one on an indoor beach (?) as the climax of Die Another Day, but it was scuppered for the two duels on the plane (I would've preferred the largesse of the army battle).
Oh, and adding to my wishlist:
- gunbarrel opening
- Bond in his naval uniform
- more gadgets
- another larger-than-life villain, though maybe slightly older than Bond, i.e. the "sinister father figure" so often found in Fleming's novels
- a bad girl
- another one-word title (like SHATTERHAND or RISICO.)
