Rather than initially thinking 'Skyfall' lost out a lot of wins to the big league Hollywood award-fodder films like 'Les Mis', 'Lincoln', 'Argo' etc, I think now it won the biggest award of the night for all 8 nominations being the 'Outstanding British Film', because that's what it is. This for me takes in everything, the acting, the music, the production, the cinematography, the costumes/make-up, the effects... everything goes into making something like this a deserved winner for an outstanding film, and it proved that you can't do it better than the British with James Bond, even against 'Les Mis'.
With 'Best Original Music' a fitting addition to the work Newman has done creating his supporting character to go along with the film, I'm really chuffed Bond did well at the BAFTAs, after so many years and nominations, it gets a big one. Here's hoping we can claw a couple of deserved wins at the Oscars in 2 weeks!

They do look a very close team, thankfully brought together in the constant appreciation of 'Skyfall' so, as you say, I hope this continues for Bond 24
And thank-you Stainless Steel Teeth INC!

He always seems like a very nice man. Bit odd of them not to announce the nominee's names.

Another award tonight. Not strictly film, but, Brit award for Best British Single - Adele & Skyfall.

A brilliant result, seeing as the British Single category had some pretty big nominations for the industry, but Adele and Bond pull it off!
I think we could be looking at a secured James Bond Academy Award win this Sunday for sure....

Indeed, when you consider the competition in that category, and that Skyfall is not a "pop" style song with a Bond reference bolted on, but a Bond theme in the classic style, right down to the bars from the Monty Norman theme in the background. I think you are right. I think Adele might just do it this Sunday.

Exactly! I wanted her to win but didn't think she would with the calibre and "cred" of the competition. I'm not a follower of modern music, but I know the names that generate a lot of buzz and top charts/airplay.
Names like Coldplay, Emeli Sande, Jessie J, Olly Murs, Rita Ora, Rizzle Kicks, Robbie Williams...big names with big followers, so for Adele to trump them all with, as you say, an in your face power-ballad James Bond theme on the face of it is a great win for her and the series.
*fingers crossed for Sunday*

Nice performance from Shirley Bassey.
Also great for Sky Movies to have Colin Salmon as part of their Oscars night coverage!

Yeah really. They should've just trawled YouTube for better. I've no doubt some of our members have cut together better "highlight" reels. And the fact that that the Oscars promoted it as a highlight really tells you what they think of their own show's quality. Typical Hollywood - complete lack of self-awareness.That 007 tribute was crap.

007 definitely deserved a better 50th tribute than that!
Shirley started a little weak but ultimately brought the goods and belted it out nicely.
