I didn't care much for Battlefield 3. It was better than MW3, but that's not saying much. When it comes to Battlefield, IMO, the best games are in the Bad Company series. Bad Company 1 and 2 are the best modern day FPSs that I've played in a long time and it's a shame that EA has pushed Bad Company 3 to the back burner in favor of Battlefield 4.

DmC: Devil May Cry (2013)
Developer: Ninja Theory
Publisher: Capcom
Platforms: PS3/X360/PC (Review based on Playstation 3 version)
Rating: 7.5/10
Many DMC fans have cried wolf over Ninja Theory's reboot of the franchise. I admit to being one of the ones who was unhappy with the new look of Dante. However, I am happy to say that the game lives up to the DMC name in everyway. A reboot of the series, the game takes place at the beginning of Dante's demon hunting career. Recruited by his brother Vergil to defeat the demon king Mundus, Dante battles through Limbo City. The story is one of the game's strong points. Ninja Theory has crafted one of the best stories in the series and arguably the best one since the original Devil May Cry.
Graphically, the game is good, but nothing great. This is one of the game's few weak spots. Technically, the game isn't great. As with other Ninja Theory games, there is quite a bit of screen tearing, texture pop-in and frame rate drops. It isn't quite as bad as NT's previous game, Enslaved, however it is noticeable.
The gameplay is superb. Dante's move list grows throughout the game as he gets more weaponry. However, a downside is that there will really only be 3 or 4 primary weapons that you will use. The moves can be strung together to create combos and gain points, however, more often than not you will find yourself using the same moves over and over. Also, the difficulty is noticably lessened as compared to previous games in the serious. I never found myself having to repeat sections (other than the bizarre platforming sections) because I had trouble with the enemies.
Overall, I found that what DmC does right far outweighs the bad and makes for a fun game. At roughly 6-7 hours, the game is on the shorter side, however, the extra difficulties and collectibles make it worth it to go back for multiple playthroughs. If the game were more polished and had less screen tearing and the frame rate stayed more consistent, I would rate it higher. I give DmC: Devil May Cry a 7.5/10.
2013 games so far:
The Last of Us- 10/10
Bioshock Infinite- 9.5/10
Tomb Raider- 9/10
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance- 6.5/10
Star Trek: The Game- 5.75/10 (After a second playthrough which was far more glitchy than my first, I had to revise my score)
DmC: Devil May Cry- 7.5/10
God of War: Ascension- 8/10
The Walking Dead: 400 Days- 8/10

I am almost finished with Red Dead Redemption, I was set back a little bit because I needed to buy a new game disc, but I am loving every minute of this game! If anyone hasn't played it, they really should. It has an awesome story, a really fun free roam environment and nice achievements/trophies to earn.

It's a bleddy sic game, I bought it when it first came out. One of Rockstar's finest. LOVED the hunting, the random events that occur when you're just riding from town to town.
Loved getting drunk in Armadillo saloon, then stumbling outside and passing out. Loved playing poker for hours on end, then losing and deciding the players sitting next to me deserved a bullet in a head for taking all my money. So so SO good! Can't wait for GTA V!

It's decent at best. Highly overrated.
I've noticed you're a cynic by nature, Ace. I politely request you give me a list of YOUR top 5 games, if you'd be willing?

Can't take an opinion? Sorry, it's a good game, but it's not great, I believe it gets too much praise which I believe garners it overrated. I haven't been on the planet long enough or played as many games as others may have, I don't believe in a Top 5 list and I am not willing to go out of my way to come up with one for you.
Oh and if you're going to call someone a cynic, make sure you know that person, both, inside and out, before doing so, because currently, You don't know me or anything about me, Inside and out.

2. The Last of Us (2013) Playstation 3

No, Sorry, I don't take being called something such as a "cynic" whether it's in the right or wrong context very lightly. You don't know me or anything about me. If you can't take someone's opinion, that's your own fault, deal with it.

Each to their own. I am also curious too as to what are your top games. I am pretty sure that every game I have ever said that I liked you absolutely detest. (nothing wrong with that) but I am curious as to what video games you would recommend.

You liked Far Cry 3, I didn't detest. Please, don't assume, it's quite irritating.
As for top games, See one of my previous posts. I'm not going to list them, because I don't have any, and because it doesn't matter.

Well you think a lot of the games I like are overrated so I think I am not assuming, we have different tastes, nothing wrong with that.

Well if it's wondering you were seeking, perhaps say it better next time instead of directly calling me a cyninc when you don't know me. Why is it such a problem if I don't like a game or think it's overrated or have a different view on it? Am I suppose to fall in with the others and feel the same about every game? People like Assassin's Creed and BioShock, I don't, so does that mean, here on this forum I'm supposed to, because the general consensus likes it? If I don't like something or think otherwise of it, it is what it is, get over with it. I'm not going to change my stance and viewpoint on things because someone doesn't like how I view a game or games.
As for the list, I'm still not going to make one, because I don't have to and because I don't possibly need you shooting down any such list I create.

I liked Majora's Mask, but I never felt it was anything more than an expansion pack to Ocarina of Time. It is very heavy on side quests as the main game is pretty short (for a Zelda game anyway) and the events of MM are never referenced anywhere else in the Zelda canon (Twilight Princess heavily references OoT, but completely ignores MM). I do like it far more than Skyward Sword though.

I see what you mean by MM, but despite the brevity of the game (only 4 dungeons), I found the 3 day cycle refreshing. In addition to that, the game carried a sense of dread throughout, a real feeling of foreboding. The musical score especially underlined this, I thought it was fantastic. The side quests were loads of fun too, and being able to turn into a Goran and Zora's was amazing!
Ocarina is still my favorite but Majora's Mask is one of a kind. I wrote an exhaustive review of (nearly) all Zelda games on my blog, if you fancy a read, Seawolf: http://thewiresayers...r-25-years.html
Haven't played Skyward Sword yet. For some reason it just didn't appeal to me. Might be old age!

I've been well out of sync with 'GTA V' so need to get back into the marketing for this as I've loved all the series so far and think this will be just as enjoyable and manic as the others.
As for your list PPK - a fair choice if I may say. Here's mine for for debatevalue:
1) The Secret Of Monkey Island (1990)
2) GoldenEye 007 (1997)
3) Assassins Creed II (2009)
4) Theme Park World (1999)
5) Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire (1996)
As you can see, modern games are brilliant but at times come and go with the inital thrill being brilliant but soon fades. However the older games I found a true gaming experience that gave out so much on so many levels it brings more enjoyment playing them over and over when I get the chance.

A very nice retrospective PPK. I agree with most everything you said. The original Zelda is a test in patience and frustration. While the game is very fun if you can handle it, it is VERY dated by today's standards and I wouldn't really blame anyone for skipping it today. Zelda II is the darkhorse and one that I never truly liked. Despite what I said earlier, I do really like Majora's Mask. I would rank it number 4 of the major console Zeldas, after Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past and Twilight Princess. I just felt that it never felt as full as OoT (if that makes any sense). I enjoy the side quests and the mood is very dark compared to most other Zeldas. It just has faults that OoT doesn't....and let's not forget Great Bay Temple *shudder*.
Everything else was pretty much spot on, except for a few small mistakes I noticed. Wind Waker was released in 2003 making the 5 year gap between Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword and not between Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Also, Twilight Princess was built for the GameCube and was only ported to Wii very late in the development cycle. This is why the game world in the Wii version is flipped from the GC release as it was meant to make Link a righty from his default southpaw.
As for Skyward Sword, I rated it a 7.5/10. I saw it as yet another attempt by Nintendo to replicate OoT. The game is a cross between Twilight Princess and Wind Waker with a cel shaded version of the Twilight Princess graphics and the sky overworld that is very reminiscent of Wind Waker's ocean. Overall, it follows the same formula of get the sword/shield, open the dungeon, get an item, defeat the boss, rinse and repeat. The story is noticeably weaker than previous Zeldas and the final criticism I have is the that game is overly long. While I normally wouldn't see that as a fault (I prefer long games), in Skyward Sword, I found it more of a chore to traverse throughout the game, especially in the god awful Lanayru Province.

I finally finished Red Dead Redemption! I overall enjoyed the story, it isn't my favorite rockstar game that has been made but overall I really enjoyed it. Right now I am collecting a few more of the achievements that I missed before going into Undead Nightmare achievements then finally I might do some of the multiplayer before I say I am done with this game.

You've put me off Skyward Sword completely, It really doesn't seem like a Zelda game I NEED to play. So i'll be giving it a miss!
The Great Bay Temple in MM was awful. Not as bad as the Water Temple in OoT though! That had me pulling my hair out!
Thanks for pointing out the mistakes Seawolf, I'll get them corrected when I have time.

I would say Skyward Sword is worth at least one play through. It certainly isn't a bad game, it just does nothing to make it stand out. It has some great dungeons, but it just does nothing new. I will say that it's Water Temple is far better than either Great Bay Temple or the Water Temple. Also, I maybe one of the few, but I never had any issues with the Water Temple in OoT. I thought it was a larger puzzle than most, but nothing too difficult. Anyhoo, as for the mistakes, it's not a problem. They were nothing major, just something I noticed. Thought you'd like to correct them.

Yeah I agree, the world was fun to play and the achievements were fun to earn. I still have one single player achievement that I still want to get, but after I earn that achievement I am going to move on to Undead Nightmare. After that, I want to return back to the multiplayer and make my way to Level 50 and to earn most of the multiplayer achievements before I go on to play Knights of the Old Republic (My boyfriend bought it for me and has been nagging me to get on to playing it)
