As for the art, I don't think it's final. Not only is it missing the "Albert R. Broccoli's EON Productions presents..." line but Amazon always uses placeholders. It seems early to already have artwork finalized. Even if they do end up using the poster, I can't see them not adding the aforementioned line. Every Bond release has had it.
With all that said, if that's indeed the final cover, I won't feel so bad about putting the disc inside my Bond 50 set and not having to look at the cover ever again.

On another note, strong rumors suggest HMV will be getting the exclusive steelbook, and you can bet your life it will not
use the same artwork as the standard DVD and Blu Ray cases.

However, if Best Buy or whoever does a steelbook with the teaser poster, I'll be getting that one instead.

Okay so the marketing and decisions for the poster/ DVD artwork could be better- esp. considering it's the fiftieth anniversary but OMG lets move forward
If that's the ONLY thing wrong with the phenomenon known as Skyfall is some crummy little DVD cover then I'm happy
I think the film itself ( or did we forget that's why we are all here you art critics??) is hands down THE best film since Goldfinger and Craig shatters Connery's template into pieces- besides which Connery and his era are starting to look a bit dated already ( men don't wear hats anymore for one thing)
Lets review the facts as "our" film charges toward a billion dollars in sales
1 The producers (Bless their hearts) took chances here despite what the core audience felt they SHOULD do and they did this in half a dozen areas of the film- can't go into details without spoiling it..... and it works
2 They opened up new layers of the character that has never been dared attempted before ( and yet during the filming of Casino Royale everyone was so worried that "their Bond" had frigging blond hair !!!????)....... and it works
3 There are now several new directions this Bond can go in the next few films never thought possible in the Brosnan, Moore or even ( arguably) Dalton eras. And despite that weight of responsibility, I think Craig is well equipped to handle the load, despite his blond hair
I'll be first in line at Best Buy in March and pay the overpriced 32 bucks they'll get away with ( Mostly because they are well aware there is a portion of the fans who WILL pay on day one 'just because'- although maybe I'll see if Amazon is a bit lower and I'll suffer the shipping delay) because I think the BluRay will have some kick butt extras as well as the beauty of the film that I watch over and over again at my leisure
So lets just enjoy the fact that the film came out so beautifully and has given the franchise a few fresh directions
I don't care if the DVD cover was drawn in crayon by a 5 year old.... as long as the film I saw in the theater is inside
Lets keep our eye on the ball folks huh?
( sorry to be so blunt but really- this is a great year for Bond fans. Wasting a whole post on a mis step by the art department seems a bit petty at this point)

Digital Bits is one such place I keep checking since they seem to have a good connection to Hollywood and notify fans of whats coming
Looking for specifically...
Director audio commentary There are a few films out there that have great behind the scenes tidbits in their commentary and then there are others that just love hearing themselves talk
A really good half an hour long documentary on the making of the film ( though an hour'd be better)
And I had heard there was a documentary about the history of the franchise. That would be fun to watch too
Maybe a gag reel though I doubt the producers will stoop to that
I'm sure there are a number of bloopers over the years but to date I have yet to see anything on youtube aside from the typical 'making of' videos

Still not upgrading to BR any time soon, don't like it, only seen a handful of films that look outstanding on it.

Ofcourse, That goes without saying!Really? I must say that every BD transfer done well (there are bad ones, no doubt about it) is an improvement on DVD.

Like I said, only a handful that are clear improvements than DVD, the rest, couldn't even tell the difference other than the audio being slightly lower.
I'm just not willing to upgrade when I have over 300 DVD's and a handful of Blu-Ray's on my PC.

And by the way - you can watch your DVDs on your BD player as well - it even upscales the picture of those.

I agree - it sucks to have so many DVDs and then being forced to upgrade
I only have a dozen BluRays and those are current films I have seen that were keepers
I'm just glad they keep making the BluRay machines where they accept DVDs
As for the two disc DVD package I am angry about it
For those who still prefer DVD I see no reason why the studio cant have a two sided disc so that DVD people can have most of the bonus features as well as the film with ( if its provided on BluRay) an audio commentary
I believe that BluRays CAN handle a number of different audio commentary features on ONE disc were DVD cannot. Still... at least putting a directors commentary on there and then have the reverse side contain the bonus features should be an option for those out there who could care less about a higher quality picture ( and there are a number of them out there)
Every time I see a "4 pack" in the store I get angry because it means they always had the capability to have TWO full length films ( which means 4 full hours of time) on each side and here they'd just add a second disc with skimpy bonus features and make it seem like such a added bonus ( along with adding ten bucks to the price)
And then there's the stupid cardboard slip cover that gets added sometimes which of course adds even more to the overall price I pay
JUST PLACE THE DISC IN THE PLASTIC CASE with a fair price..... there are a number of people who'd buy an additional film if the prices were a bit more reasonable
Oh well Commercialism is alive and well- shop carefully folks- they are only interested in the money

We Brits don't have Thanksgiving and most of us are in work, so we really don't have anything better to do than whine about crappy cover art.
Besides, it's fun.
And it sure beats talking about sport.

Just my opinion of course!
If there is indeed a Skyfall steelbook release, hopefully it's with the teaser poster. That'll definitely be the version I get.

I love unnecessary packaging. The more foldy-outy-slipcasey bits the better, I say. As long as they put the effort in, the studios are welcome to my money!

Henry I like your thinking ( "Beats talking about sport")
And......... I am kind of half serious about most of what I said Bu then I take my film content more serious then I do my cover needs

Both look amazing on Bluray. DVD's still look pretty good when up scaled on my 47 inch screen. Hopefully there will be some good special features unlike QOS's Bluray/DVD.You should try the new LAWRENCE OF ARABIA BD or JAWS. You won´t want to go back to DVD ever.
And by the way - you can watch your DVDs on your BD player as well - it even upscales the picture of those.
