I love 'em; there may be slightly too many ideas in them, though. When we get to the black and white bit it almost changes style completely and is maybe feeling a bit over-full.

That's Kleinman's way, though. Better to have too many ideas than too few.

Great title sequence. Along with GOLDENEYE and CASINO ROYALE, it's one of Kleinman's best efforts. He always does his best when the story has some strong thematic material to draw on.

Yes there is.

It was what reminded me of the SIMPSONS 'Treehouse of Horror' titles initially.

Am seeing Skyfall tonight and I couldn't wait when I read that the titles were on YouTube! They are mind blowing and now I'm so stoked to see the film, even more so than I've been all week! Is it blasphemy to say that I don't really dig alot of Binder's work? Some of his stuff was brilliant but especially his 80's stuff was borderline horrible!

Gosh - just went on YouTube myself - wish I hadn't really, but couldn't resist. I'm with you JazzyBond - they look awesome. I'm still skeptical there's too much Dench but hope to be proved wrong. That said, EVERYTHING I've seen so far looks amazing. Really looking forward to it more than ever. And yeah, some of the Binder's 80's stuff looks like it was done by a 15 year old. Still enjoy them though.

LOL
I agree, the titles seemed kind of...off. Non Bondian, but when I saw the women and heard the Skyfall chorus by Adele, it started making more sense. And upon second viewing, it grew on me. No way to watch an opening titles sequence than in the cinema, screw bad quality youtube!

I liked the titles. Probably too many ideas going on in, but the Gothic imagery was very striking (apparently Century Gothic was font used, too).

I've always been amazed with Kleinman's work, but this just blew me away. It felt fresh but Binder-esque at the same time. Very diverse too, unlike the dreary QoS titles.

There is, but I would say that I found it oddly hard to read in the normal sized screening I went to: IMAX is worth it, as it turns out.

I dunno; he generally works along one theme and adds to it; I think when the b/w kicks in it feels like he's changed style and look completely. It's lovely, but quite different.
I don't want Bond to be minimalist of course (!) but there might just be a little too much here.

Hmm, don't think so- Century Gothic is much rounder. It was nice to see Kleinman's Bond font return (I don't know what it is, but it's the same one he's used since GoldenEye).

What I really liked was the plunging into the screen, Seven Nation Army-style. It seems kind of odd Bond titles haven't done that before when you see it! :)

Just saw it last night. Liked the return of more traditional Bond titles, with incorporation of plot themes (dragons, etc). My only complaint would be that there was a bit of repetition at the end of the sequence, it seems that DC's eye was used twice, and also there was a very similar shot of the Skyfall lodge at the end. I need to watch it again to see if there were suttle differences.

I noticed that, too. In the first shot of Bond's eyes, he seems quite a bit younger than in the second shot. (Or maybe he's younger in the second shot, but dirty from having hidden in the tunnel for two days.) Not sure if that's meant to symbolize the boy reacting to his parents' deaths? Both shots of the lodge precede the eye shots, so I'm sure that's meant to be symbolic.

I thought the titles were brilliant. I'm extremely happy Daniel Kleinman is back. With the exception of Tomorrow Never Dies which I find to be dull, his titles are always impressive. Not only do they rival some of Binder's work, but some are even better than some of the Binder sequences. I like how they were a little different yet totally appropriate for the film and made even more sense as the film went on. They worked well for the narrative and the thematic content was outstanding.

In my opinion, they were the best in the whole saga.

they were very very striking, along with the song it really made my blood boil(in a good way).I have to agree with you, yes the best ever.

Loved the opening titles. I thought the abridged version of the song worked better than the full version too.

I completely agree on both points.

I'm wary of proclaiming something I've just seen for the first time as "best", but I can't remember another title sequence that got me more excited to see the movie than I already was. Stellar work!

As for the music, I loved the song from the first time I heard it, but I always thought the piano intro went on too long, and I never liked the way the backing vocals are featured during the instrumental break (which also goes on for too long.) I made an edit, using the single and instrumental versions, and it's about 90% accurate, but there's still a couple of small points I simply can't replicate without access to the original studio tracks. I'd link it, but I remember that was against the rules back when I posted the Casino Royale end credits mix of You Know My Name. If there's an allowable way to share it, I'm all for it.

My first thought about the title sequence was that it looks like those graphics that play when your listening to music on your computer and made of a best of the Bond title sequences. I agree after viewing it a second time on Youtube, that some of the transitions aren't as smooth as the others. The one thing I didn't like about it was the blood when they zoom into Bond's wound.

Loved them, rank them very highly, along with Casino Royale's, even Licence To Kill's title does a lot for me.

When the hand catches hold of Bond, oddly enough for a brief second, I expected it to belong to Vesper, showing
Bond still thinks of her etc......

I loved the sequence. I'd rank it just under Casino Royale as my favorite in the series. Beautiful, evocative of many of the themes in the movie, syncs with the music. I also like that it seemed to be playing out in Bond's mind - much like Die Another Day's did while he was being tortured. Masterful work, especially when compared to MK12's uninspired effort. Really happy that Kleinman's back - I look forward to more.

IGN has posted the opening credits. I trust it's legit and allowed to be posted. I can't see IGN allowing this otherwise. If not, I apologise for advertising it (though I imagine it won't last long if it hasn't been officially approved).

Never really noticed it before, but is 01:15 meant to be an adolescent Craig-Bond? Looks like acne on the nose.

I think it's a reference to what Kincade says to M later in the film, about a 11/12 year old Bond spending 2 days in the priest hole after his parents' death, going in as a boy but coming out as a man.

Not sure about the acne but that's definitely a boy's face. Good catch!

Never thought we'd see "Young Bond" on film, as it were.

I absolutely LOVE the use of the "young Bond" in the titles. I always thought the way his eye was twitching it looked as if he was about to cry. I imagine it's supposed to be Bond hiding in the priest hole after being told his parents had died.

Agreed, certain parts reminded me of the Live and Let Die title sequence, and fit the movie perfectly. Hopefully he will be back for Bond 24.

The first time I saw the movie I did not know anything about the story so I enjoyed them and kept thinking "wow this is pretty dark stuff"

The second time I saw it I picked up on a lot of the visuals for moments throughout the film and appreciated it even more.

I guess I'll be the first to break ranks here and say that they didn't really do much for me. I much prefer Kleinman's work on GoldenEye and Casino Royale, although I will say that I'll cut Kleinman some slack on this one since he had a terrible title track to work with.

Very cool of them to release this online. I didn't catch the young Bond motif during my first viewing, and was confused as to why the same shot had been used twice. I'll be honest, the first time I saw the sequence I wasn't floored, but now I can't get enough of it. It's not as good as Casino Royale's, but it is certainly a close second, and miles better than what MK12 gave us (though I still appreciate their efforts in creating those location title cards, which I had hoped we'd be seeing again this time around).

Does anybody know the names of the model(s) used in the credit sequence? Love the shot of her pointing the gun at the camera as we travel down the gun barrel.
