Nearly last day of its 50th Anniversary, Bond gives us the biggest present of them all.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! I look the boxoffice chart and I still can´t believe it.
Congratulations and thanks to all Bond fans worldwide. I´m thinking now in Saltzman and Cubby and can´t find words for them...
Not a single penny of that BILLION is for me, but today I´m happier than yesterday...

Skyfall is no longer just a film. It's a phenomenon.

$1 BILLION?!
Stunning work for James Bond in this economic climate. What does this say about James Bond, and Daniel Craig as 007 himself in today's world? It's a juggernaut and I'm so, so proud to be a Bond fan.
What a wonderful end to the 50th year!

Couldn't have said it better myself! Now if we only had a game worthy enough to compliment Skyfall....

Agreed. Although it seems when times are tough people tend to (selectively) return to the movies. Which justifies the quality and timing of Skyfall and the timelessness of Bond in general.

I think it will be very close, but I do think it can do it - just. (One billion by the new year)
I'm looking forward to the box office up dates on Monday December 31st with bated breath. Perhaps I should have said after the new year bank holiday on the 2nd of Jan, just to give myself a bit of elbow room
2nd Jan it is sir.
Have a good Christmas ...
Seems you are right Shrubs!
Well done. Am still frankly, amazed.

Feeling great about Skyfall's achievement. What a way to end the 50th anniversary year!

This is a huge achievement for a Bond movie and doing this without 3D prices! I think it will beat TDKR!!!!! it will continue to go into the history books as one of the top box office number of all time, at least in the top 15

I don't think anyone expected this film to hit $1 billion before the year's end. It is going to be the most successfull Bond film of all time in the next three weeks. Maybe before that. Critics loved it and word of mouth has been positive. The last two weekends the film made over $4.5 million. The drop has been steady. Not only it will surpass Thunderball's adjusted gross worldwide, it will also hit $300 million in the US.

With apologies to a late, unlamented steel clawed villain:-
"One billion dollars, Mr Bond. You were wondering how much it grossed?"

Great job, Mr. Bond. Would it be too optimistic to hope for highest grossing of all time?
It's the most successful Bond film of all time, yes.
SKYFALL Box Office Update
It was announced today that SKYFALL, the 23rd James Bond adventure, has surpassed $1 billion at the worldwide box office. 1 billion? It´s a great day to be a Bond fan. Tell´s something about the film for sure... it tell´s something about the world in which we live in, too. We need these iconic heroes to save the day and we need those heroes to take us to the adventures around the globe.
I´m an escapist and the world of 007 is my drug

Not yet, Skyfall still needs about $15,000,000 to overtake Thunderball.

Has "Skyfall" opened in all markets?
If not, I think it highly likely that "Skyfall" will overtake "Thunderball", even with a calculation for inflation.
EDIT: According to the Huffington Post, "Skyfall" still has to open in China theatrically. I think we can safely say goodbye to "Thunderball"'s 47-year old record.

Skyfall will defeat Thunderball before it hits China. But this is based on 2011 inflation.

Great News indeed ! Glad I was able to help with a couple of viewings over the holidays.
Getting a bit difficult to find cinemas still showing it though.
Roll on the DVD !

The latest figures adjusted to 2012 money are:
Thunderball - $1,031,974,768 ($141,200,000 in 1965)
Skyfall - $1,002,900,121
So, Skyfall has almost $30 million to go, actually... before it takes TB's crown...

Is it probably too much to think that Skyfall could catch Deathly Hallows Part 2?
