He must have dropped the bomb onto the track before Bond followed him into the tunnel below.

Difficult to assess a clip which is just a fraction of the contextual framework the full scene will likely give. No harm in guessing but I'm sure an answer will come with the film. If it doesn't, well then...

I believe the Bond on Set book has a script extract that refers to Silva detonating charges that had previously been laid in the underground tunnel. Naturally, it's very convenient that they stop in the exact spot, but given the level of intricacy in Silva's plan, we can perhaps give him credit for ensuring Bond followed him to the precise location he needed him to.

I've been thinking the same thing and wondering how does a whole in the wall change the course of a sub way train, when they are on tracks?

I guess the 'charges' blow the tracks and that is why the train goes crashing after Bond?

Yes, the hole is in the floor of the underground train tunnel, and therefore the ceiling of the catacombs where Bond and Silva are. The strategically placed charges blow away the train's natural track, and then it plunges down through the created hole.

Interestingly, the dialogue of that scene has changed slightly at the end from what it was previously trailed as being. After the first explosion, and before the train crashes through, it was supposed to be...

BOND: I've got bad news, Silva.
SILVA: Me too.

I think the finished version is a decent improvement.

BOND: I do hope that wasn't for me.
SILVA: No... But that is.

What I love on re-watching is Silva's shout of surprise when Bond hits the ladder, and he stops, and then after the ceiling blows, Silva gives a boyish gasp.

Absoultey brilliant I say, those touches.

I think that's why he's compared to Heath Ledger's Joker.

100% agreed!! Silva is bringing all those quirky personality traits which I loved with Christopher Walken's Max Zorin...he's definitely gonna go down as one of the most memorable villains in Bond history..

I can't watch the train crash without thinking of this moment from British soap opera Coronation Street:

Phenomenal stuff - and the last new thing I'm going to let myself watch.

The dialogue between M and Mallory, in particular, warmed my earns in a way nothing's done since Bond/Vesper on the train. That's what we've been missing, and Logan seems to have really helped deliver. Stoked. Beyond stoked.

Humour. Bond introduces her or she does, as M and he hears Emma and starts calling her Emma. My two cents.

Isn't Albert Finney great there, though? I love that bit where he says; "like all great leddies."

Yes, the eye dialect is lovely. Finney is a class act.

Makes one wonder why they haven´t thought of that before as a gag. If that is a sample of the humour we´re getting, I´m quite happy.

Sorry, me again going over old ground..."Take The Bloody Shot", just re-watching the clips we've been given and as some have said here, I have to admit that I think Bond can hear the conversation between Eve and M and this makes it so much worse for Bond, as he almost seems to now fight to get back behind Patrice, and you can hear the muffled dialogue of M when the shot cuts to him via his earpiece.

I actually feel for Bond already and it's not even been released...sorry, continue...!

Yep! This is how Bond knows for sure that M ordered the shot to be taken, despite the potential risk to him, and it wasn't simply an accident purely caused by Eve's misjudgement and poor accuracy.

I enjoyed seeing Ralph Fiennes getting involved in action in those clips. I know we saw that one still months ago but it was just cool to see. I eagerly await his character in Skyfall.
