So there's still the possibility that Bond will face off against a monkey villain.

Yes, I don't think the Beetles themselves will actually be crucial to the plot. I think it's more likely that they'll be just sitting quietly on the wagon being transported, and Bond will do something impressive in their immediate vicinity - as has been suggested by Captain T.

I dare say he'll drive one of those Beetles up onto the roof. Like in that other script.

The idea that Jimbo will use a Beetle as a ramp off the bridge isn't likely because the Producers have asked for so many of them - only one would realistically be needed for such a stunt.

So, more likely they will be on the train and used as the central part of a discussion on modern fashion icons before he goes off to beat someone up.

Undoubtedly.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it but anything in the archives is fair game.

The producers did ask for at ton of Beetles didn't they and there was also no sign of one in the footage they had of the test jump although it was a test jump.

I'm guessing a monkey villain is one that is meant to be killed off? No monkeying around.

Unless the sequence involves a car transporter carrying Beetles across the bridge. In which case there would be six or eight of them.

Gosh; that's a bit impressive!
Looks like the Porsche is on fire out the front, too.

Oh dear - come October, will we be able to see any other car in this scene?

Indeed, will we be able to think it is set in Scotland?

The car transporter is very likely. If the train ends up tipping over the edge of the bridge's broken rail-track, then the cars will tumble off, one by one, so a dozen or more Beetles falling into the ravine would make that particular detail of the sequence pretty spectacular and memorable. And they need more than a dozen Beetles for repeat "takes" of the action - hence why they have so many Beetles.

That would be good, wouldn't it.

I wonder why they were planning to use the old-style Beetles originally, though?

Probably a good reason why Eon aren't keen on set photos like this!

I must admit; having visited the Main Strike Mine from AVTAK, it is a bit of a leap in my mind when, in the film, Bond hangs onto an airship for the ride from Sussex to San Francisco! :)

Bearing in mind how wonderful the European first of the film was, it must have been a lot like the pain involved in hanging on to the interest in the last half of this film.

BBC News this evening has a report from the set of SKYFALL. There are clips of Bond walking through the London underground station, before walking through a side door, and also along a platform towards a busy train. There's also a brief interview with Daniel Craig.

Clip here:

The report shown on the BBC News at 6 is slightly longer and shows additional shots of the Jaguar screeching around Westminster and Craig running out the building at Trinity Square. Fantastic.

Worth adding that they've been filming at Pinewood Studios today on a London underground set on the 007 Stage. The reporter appeared to suggest that it was only the BBC allowed at Pinewood today, but I'll keep an eye out.

The full report might only appear on the BBC website within the confines of the bulletin, due to licensing regulations... So worth having a look at the BBC iPlayer when the Six O'Clock News is uploaded there, and perhaps a kindly soul will be able to screenshot for those unable to watch. I can try to do so at work tomorrow.
