Spoiler time! Loads of good stuff squeezed into such a short promo. Fantastic.

Given the way the shot of Bond entering the (supposedly) new M's office is framed, I wonder if there's any chance they won't show who he's talking to, and "007 reporting for duty" could be the last words of the movie.

You know what, i wouldn't be surprised if this was the case.

I think you have struck the nail on the head with the ending.
With regard to the little red button, how many times does M have to say 'are we there yet?' before bond thinks about the ejector seat?

TCR, i see your point. But i think the problem has been that with the reboot and revenge/Quantum storyline, Bond has been too busy jetting around the world and being briefed by M in locations that haven't been in her office.

So as fans it's great to see that this time round in Skyfall, we'll be seeing a lot of MI6, London, and M's office door (and Moneypenny...?). Business as usual, in other words.

But i do see what you're saying about the 'Bond we know and love' nonsense we've been hearing since 2006. As Mendes and Craig said, this is going to be Bond with a capital 'B'! So no lessons for Bond to learn in Skyfall, though we do know it's going to be an emotional and life-changing experience for him.

I guess at the end of SKYFALL one needs to have a scene where Bond again states that everything is back in order.

True enough - thanks chaps! It will be very emotional, in different ways for Bond fans, to have that moment/scene back.

Such ending would evoke tears of joy of me, just like the ending of Casino Royale.
I guess by the end of QoS the character of Craig's Bond had become 007 we all know and love, and Skyfall will "complete the reboot" by updating certain elements from 1962-1989 era to the 21st Century.

I thought the exact same thing. Also, I hadn't noticed it until you all pointed it out, but THE GEAR LEAVER HOLY HELL. Sorry, sorry guys. Sorry. Got excited. Oh and how awesome does he look going through that padded door?

More on the Aston shot, I can't digest it watching the video at a normal rate. I think that one was worked in exclusively for us.........or not.

For some reason I see the red button serving another function in the film this time. Front machine guns, perhaps?

Well, there is a trap door/breakaway section in the roof.

Our theory before was that Bond ejects himself from of the car before it's blown up. But he's clearly sat in the driver's seat in that shot. So, unless there's an ejector seat on both sides this time, he must eject somebody else out of the car.

Who says he uses the seat at that moment in the trailer at all?

Perhaps it's just an indication to audiences that it's there and ready to use if the situation arises. Which of course it will.

You could be right. Although the trap door lines in the roof have been spotted it may not mean the ejector seat is going to be used.
My guess is that the red button is activated when trying to get M away to safety.

I'd say that's definitely the moment he fires the ejector seat. The shot's bathed in firelight from the burning house.

The other thing I'd add into the red button/ejector seat debate is that Bond appears to be wearing a suit in the shot of him flicking open the gear lever. If the ejector seat is to be used in the final battle at Skyfall Lodge, Bond will be wearing his 'hunting' apparel, so perhaps the shot in the TV spot is indeed an earlier display of the capabilities of the car ahead of the showdown.

MAybe he ejects the seat into the helicopter? And then the bloody bird crashes into the manor. But I do see your point about the suit. Maybe he has the jacket on top of the suit and then takes it off after falling through the ice?

That being said...

EJECTOR SEAT!!!!!!!!! PADDED DOOORRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is what I thought, 'Bond would eject the seat into the helicopter like he does with the jet in TND. There was also the idea that he might run to the DB5 use it to shot down the helicopter but then have to use the ejector seat to escape being hit by a missile itself.

About the suit. Isn't Bond wearing it when he and M stop on the side of the road? Could he perhaps put on the hunting gear then?

That scene of Bond in the hunting gear is when they are arriving at SF lodge right?

It could be from the scene where Bond and M are driving to the lodge and he uses it on her. After she gives him a 'trust' speech.

Ha, yes! I can see it now...

"Why don't YOU go stick YOUR head in the sand, M!"

*Presses red button on gear lever, M is thrown 10 feet in the air and lands behind the Aston. Bond reverses over her body for good measure*

Maybe she destroys the Aston's upholstry after wolfing into a steak and kidney pie at the M6 services.

That's not Severine is it? I thought it was that Tonia Sop...lady in the Turkey opener?

Now, I may be wrong, but I like to think I know my Berenice and I'm betting that is NOT my Berenice...she doesn't have the right eyes...

When Bond lands in the train, adjusting his cuffs, look at his shirt - have they reduced the amount of blood again? I seem to remember a conversation in another thread that mentioned the blood on his shirt in the domestic and international versions were different - this trailer seems to have almost lost it completely.

Alright, that brief flash I did think it was another Bond girl, I think I was expecting those heavy smouldering eyes. Please don't let this brief blip deter you, I still will vouch for Berenice all I can!

Side note - I may be wrong, probably, but re-watching the Spot again, somehow the more I watch Bonds mouth and the words "..reporting for duty", I don't think they match up and it's taken from that scene. I don't know...I reckon that must be the line when he reunites with M after coming back from the dead.

Something doesn't sit with me, him saying that as he enters the office, it sounds a bit wrong in that context...is it just me?

He says "007 reporting for duty" when M turns on the lights in her living room and finds Bond standing there for the first time since his "death." they just overlayed the dialogue on that clip. It appears Bond is actually saying "M" as he walks through the door.

Just a thought for the ending of the film.....humor me here.....Bond walks into M's secretary's office(the tossing of the hat would be epic!),
sees Eve and she tells him that her name is Moneypenny.....then he walks through the classic door to find Fiennes sitting in M's chair,
"007 reporting for duty" then fade out, cue the Bond theme................................

I´d say that´s it except for the reporting for duty line. He more likely says: "M...", and then Fiennes says something along these lines: "Sit down 007..."
The bit about the other character, I´d say that´s her last name. She could say something like: "From now on it´s Moneypenny for you James, M´s orders, no more familiarity, that sort of thing is a scar maker. He´s waiting for you..."
