Whenever they've cast a major "name" actress, the result has been awful. The best Bond girls have been promising newcomers or obscure euro-crumpet.
Exactly. *cough cough* Halle Berry.

I'd rather they keep selecting little known or unknown actresses as they have a habit of finding some true gems, from Famke Jansssen to Rosamund Pike to Eva Green, etc. Big name actresses aren't necessary, as I don't feel Bond films need celebrity leading ladies to sell (in fact, it's clear they don't).
Matters not if they are famous or not ,at least She looks the part.

For some reason, I've always thought Mary Elizabeth-Winstead would be great in a Bond movie. Not as the leading lady, but perhaps as a CIA agent working with Bond?
I second this, and I find her incredibly beautiful as well.

Thandie Newton and Zoe Saldana are two incredibly beautiful women. Both have action movies on their cv, though I don't know if that's a plus or a minus if you want to join a Bond cast. Anyway, it's the script that matters. Halle Berry is even more beautiful, but I agree she was miscast in DOD. An unknown can be brilliant as well.
Zoe Saldana yes, Thandie Newton no. I don't think action movies on a resume has anything to do with being cast as a Bond girl. It depends how good you look in a skimpy dress and a bathing suit.

Yuliya Snigir?
Yes, maybe it's the eyebrows, but I can just see her dishing out sexy Slavic scorn as FSB agent Achikta Fapova.

]Exactly. *cough cough* Halle Berry.
It never ends. It's been ten years since "DIE ANOTHER DAY" and fans are still bashing Berry with a great deal of hostility. This is sad.

Emily Blunt (X-Men First Class)
Sorry for my mistake, in X-Men First Class I thought to ROSE BYRNE. Also she could be an excellent Princess Leia in close Star Wars 7.

Penelope Cruz !
She has somewhat a Vesper vibe
Penelope Cruz is Javier Bardem's wife.
By the way, Ola Rapace's wife Noomi Rapace could be great.
Penelope Cruz acted in several Almodovar movies and Vicky Christina Barcelona.
Noomi Rapace acted as Lisbeth Salander, and in Prometheus and Sherlock Holmes.

She's almost twenty years younger than Craig. I don't think Uncle Ari would approve. If she were a few years older, I could see her as a gangster moll or a "Bond broad" in the tradition of Tiffany Case: insolent, worldly, wily, and frankly sexual, with a noir throwback quality. Just as long as she isn't a nuclear physicist or another cardboard she-Bond with a catsuit and a giant gun. American Bond girls have a terrible track record. The best of them have been middling, and the worst of them have been exceptionally annoying.
I don't think age has anything to do with it. Remember Roger Moore was older than Tanya Roberts' mother.

I agree with Single-O-Seven that the best Bond girls have been little known or unknown actresses so whoever they pick I doubt I would have heard of them before (Eva Green) or have seen them only in a minor role in a film that I don't even remember (Naomie Harris)
As for characters, Gala Brand is too good of a name not to be used at some point, and I would love to see Mary Goodnight done properly.
