The spoilers which came out after the first one are very exciting -- compelling. However, I am shocked --no kidding or anything here, I do mean SHOCKED -- by the losing-the-list-of-agents bit. Hello ? Mission Impossible (first film), anyone ? I gather that it's just a MacGuffin, something to move the story along, but still -- come on, not just a borrow, but a borrow from another spy film, and a rather recent one ? what the hey ???
There may also be some wikileaks inspiration in there, with the stolen info being leaked online. Taking kernels of info from popular headlines and shaping them into Bond storylines has been big with the film makers for years now.
At face value, it's similar - the NOC list. Of course in Mission: Impossible it was just about people trying to get the list - it never fell into bad hands in the end, and was just a MacGuffin to drive the plot along. Looks like it DOES get out in this movie and there is a bad aftermath.
I think this is more 'ripped from the headlines' more than anything. British intelligence officers have lost laptops, blackberries, etc several times in past years, and it's been rather embarrassing for them... I think this storyline is inspired by the real deal. Check it:
https://www.google.c...i6 loses laptop
I see it as more of a reference to security failures than anything to do with M:I.

Istanbul – FRWL and TWINE
Bond’s obituary reminds me of YOLT (and also Carver’s obit in TND)
The blonde baddy reminds me of Max Zorin and Dominic Greene
M making a mistake reminds me of the last four Bond movies
The signature gun reminds me of LTK (which is probably the point)
The shot of the helicopter reminds of the DAD PTS

There are a few things in the trailer that remind me of other Bond movies:-
Istanbul – FRWL and TWINE
Bond’s obituary reminds me of YOLT (and also Carver’s obit in TND)
The blonde baddy reminds me of Max Zorin and Dominic Greene
M making a mistake reminds me of the last four Bond movies
The signature gun reminds me of LTK (which is probably the point)
The shot of the helicopter reminds of the DAD PTS

You are right on some of the stuff form Skyfall, since it is the 50th Anniv.. Also that part where Bond say Everyone needs a hobbie, that reminded how Bond craks a little joke or something to the main villian, when he is captured for the time being or meeting face to face. Like in TND he said " I throught watching your TV show was to torture Enough." and AVTAK he said "Brilliant. I'm almost speechless with admiration."
Bond’s obituary reminds me more of YOLT and the whole faking of his death so he can do his job without interruptions from friends, then of Paris Carver’s obituary from TND.
The whole train scence kind of remainds me of the whole train scence from Octopussywith that feel and style of it.
When Daniel Craig jumps down into a part of the train and without and any scratches or injurys, and just touches the sleeve of his shirt for a second. That reminded me of TWINE ,after bomb blows and Bond and Christmas gets out safely. Bond move or shakes his head for a second and walks, and there is are no scratches or injurys.
Silva remind me of Zorin alittle trying to sound smart from what he says. Like "Mommy was very bad."
NOTE: From the line Silva (Javier Bardem) said "Mommy was very bad." I hope that is refereeing that M is a very bad boss, and NOT that M was very bad mother to him. The plot does have do with something from M's past, that coming back to hunt her. And anyway it would be very stupid IF it does have something to do with that, of M being very bad mother.

No mention of 'The Empire' either. Do they feel that some Americans would be turned off by this?
Plus they have to have '007' written at the end in case they haven't worked out it's a Bond film by then...

I'm sure SF will be splendid. But I do hope this is the last time we'll get this kind of "psycho babble" Bond plots. After that, I hope we'll get to see our good old Bond back. You know, the one who's very good at what he does, who chases villains, who womanizes and is witty.

After rewatching the various trailers, there's just one thing that bothers me: this will yet again be a Bond about trust/betrayal/failures/etc. This is all very good, but it's been lasting since, at least, DAD...

I know the trailer paints a picture one way, but I think this film is going to be closer to older Bond films than most people think. This time it appears the personal angle is all about the villain, with Bond being the one who is merely on the mission. Time will tell, but I think this one is dropping the "This time it's personal" angle.

I think it partially has someting to do with how the MI6 agents have addressed M during the last two films. In Quantum of Solace, Mitchell refers to M as "mum" during M and Bond's conversation about Yusef and Vesper just before they went into the other roomt o interrogate Mr. White. I think, but I could be wrong as I haven't seen it in a while, that Bond refers to M as "mum" at some point during Casino Royale.

CAMILLE: A woman?
BOND: Yes. But it's not what you think.
CAMILLE: Your mother?
BOND: She likes to think so.
The line from Silva could also be a shot at Bond because it seems like M is always involved with his field work, whether it be dropping in on him in random places (Miami, Bolivia) or keeping in constant contact with him in the field.

That's true, but given some of the other dialogue in the Craig films, I think they're at the very least playing on both meanings of 'mum'. The exchange between Camille and Bond in Quantum of Solace alludes to that a bit:
CAMILLE: A woman?
BOND: Yes. But it's not what you think.
CAMILLE: Your mother?
BOND: She likes to think so.
The line from Silva could also be a shot at Bond because it seems like M is always involved with his field work, whether it be dropping in on him in random places (Miami, Bolivia) or keeping in constant contact with him in the field.
And shouting "make the shot" to Eve, while Bond is fighting on the train.

1.Yayyyyyyy - 'Bond, James Bond' is there. Take that you people who don't want to hear it because you think a 'real' spy wouldn't say it. It's a Bond movie and a Bond movie needs that line. It should be the law. Yaaaayyyy.
2. Yayyyyyyyy - the baddie looks really bad in that ridiculous Bond super villian way. Yaaaaaayyyyyyy. (although didn't like the 'mummy' line - but what the hell..)
3. Yaaaaayyyy, the hot Bond chick - Berenice - looks awesome and love her line about about not knowing fear....awesomely chilling super bad villian alert.
4. Yaaaaayyyyy - Bond doing Bond stuff like checking his cuffs in the middle of the action in a really cool way - Yaaaayyyy
5. Yaaaaayyyy - lots of Bond music - because it's impossible for a Bond movie to have too much of the Bond theme. And that is fact.
6. Yaaaayyyy Qs back - and looks great. Like his dialogue and exchange with Bond. I want a personal statement like that.
7. Meh - Naomie being all competent with a gun and stuff and presumably Bond's equal. Whatever...
This looks like its going to be cooool.

I love that line. I see it being about M being a cold, calculating, and uncaring boss sending her minions into unwinnable situations and ultimately their deaths. And since she is a woman, Silva calls her "Mommy" both as a slight to her and also to Bond who has to follow his superior's orders and is not Silva's equal.NOTE: From the line Silva (Javier Bardem) said "Mommy was very bad." I hope that is refereeing that M is a very bad boss, and NOT that M was very bad mother to him. The plot does have do with something from M's past, that coming back to hunt her. Mostly though, I believe it's a version of the 007 staple of an interrogation/torture scene where the master villain talks down to Bond like a father to a disobedient boy. The not so subtle reference being that Silva and M are playing adult games and Bond is caught in the middle and in over his head.

Yes, that whole speech is quite Fleming. It reminds me of this from Le Chiffre in Casino Royale
“It was very foolish of your nanny in London to have sent you out here with your spade and bucket. Very foolish indeed and most unfortunate for you.”

While Bond's gun in the trailer may seem down to earth and plausible, here's a fun article about the tech.
fancy palm print gun not so possible
Of course the best way to make it work would be to encode it to Bond's little arm implant from Casino Royale.

More shots of the scenes between Bond and Silvia along with a wide shot of Bond being led into the "building" in the ruins or whichever they are where Silvia questions Bond. Also more shots of Silvia in the interrogation chamber.
