Does it end where it all began?

It feels more real, more solid if more cast return to continue the story of 007 rather than new people everytime like every film is a re-boot, a re-vamp or a re-fresh of ideas.

Glad to see you've finally come over to the dark side, Shrubs.
It was only a matter of time before I cracked.

Assuming that Mallory will be sat behind the desk, how do we expect that scene to pan out? A simple greeting, a new set of orders for Bond to tee up BOND 24, or something else entirely?

Bond enters
M: Sit down 007
Bond sits down, M pulls out a file.
M: Seems Quantum is making trouble again....
Fade Out as Bond leans in to begin the briefing.

I'd been racking my brains to see if there were any specific lines from the M briefing scene from DR NO that could be easily slotted in, but I'm not sure there is. I suppose they might have the red and green lights above M's door to indicate when Bond can enter from Moneypenny's office.

I guess this photo (courtesy of univex) also belongs in this thread: http://www.imagebam....c79042213098445 and emphatically answers Shrublands' question "Does it end where it all began?" with a resounding "yes!"

One thing occurred to me on seeing that photo of the office. If they wanted to slip in a very obscure and surreptitious Dr No reference, they could have the first scene in Mallory's office take place at 3:00 AM. No comment, no wink, just a clock on the wall.

I briefly had the same thought actually. I guess we've all been assuming that the office scene immediately follows Bond and Eve on the Westminster rooftop, but there's no guarantee of that. The clock set to 3am would be a nice touch. One thing occurred to me on seeing that photo of the office. I also think it's interesting that Rory Kinnear's Tanner is in the scene.

We can naturally extrapolate that to mean "Moneypenny's Office" and "M's Office".

For those interested, based on a photo in Bond on Set, the production designs on Dennis Gassner's office wall describe the final two Whitehall sets of the film as "Eve's Office" and "Mallory's Office".
We can naturally extrapolate that to mean "Moneypenny's Office" and "M's Office".
It sounds like Bond on Set contains a lot of spoilers. That's the first thing I've heard that really strikes me as confirmation of Eve = Moneypenny. I suppose it's still possible that her surname will be something else, but there's no doubt that she'll be "the Moneypenny".

" Sit down, 007. I've something new for you."
" A mission?"
M pushes forward a folder reading "For Your Eyes Only."
" A man. Ernst Stavro Blofeld."
Bond looks up at M as he breaks open the folder, cut to the outer window as the camera pans up over the Whitehall office exterior and settles on London, slowly fading to black.
....One can dream.

I really hope the last scene ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. It looks like we'll have the full staff in order, but what I want is a big reveal.

I wouldn't mind that either. All that's missing from the "reboot" era is Bond's most infamous adversary. I wouldn't be surprised if sometime between now and Bond 25 he finally turns up, though not as we expect.

My guess is that the movie ends with Bond entering the room with a padded leather door and sitting opposite Ralph Fiennes who is wearing a grey suit and a black tie and possibly holding a pipe.

Unfortunately, with the smoking ban here in the UK, I doubt we'd see someone like Mallory defying the government by smoking in a government building.I think I would stand up and clap if Fiennes was also seen smoking a pipe. It would be a moment where I'd just lose it.

Skyfall could end in the old familiar M room, which I think is a very cool idea. Have Bond walk in, a voice say "Moneypenny, bring me the file we were just discussing".... a female voice over an intercom; "right away"...and then an envelope is handed to 007.....
I have to say, while I wasn't really expecting it back when I made the above post and Photoshopped the picture - I came pretty close to the actual end of the film. Personally though - I'm very glad it wasn't SPECTRE. Even more perfect - we actually meet Moneypenny. My love for her is well documented on the non spoiler side.
For me personally, the last five minutes of Skyfall are the best James Bond moment I've ever experienced in my 40+ years of fandom. I literally had chills at how perfect it all was.

It would be better if brought back they'd name the character Guntram Shatterhand or Serge Ångström. That would eliminate associations to Dr Evil in the minds of general public but we Bond fans would know of whom they're talking about - Moriarty of the Bond Universe.

Boy you nailed the ending! Now you know why I don't read spoilers before watching the movie!

Not only did you nail the ending, you also got the title of the next movie right!
