Maybe it´s a macguffin? Nah, we´re just grasping at straws here, probably.
Well, they are used for trapping lions in the Scottish Highlands.

as someone suggest that there was a picture of M's door at 56 sec where is it exactly? I cant see it!

That looks more like the upholstered chair in M's office in The Man With The Golden Gun.

I simply can’t understand people thinking it might have something as mundane as a paperweight in it. Wouldn’t that be just so underwhelming?
Bond stands on a roof top overlooking London, with a serious expressing hands over an old china bulldog. The audience gasps!!!
Unless it's not just a paperweight.
A piggy bank? LOL No but I was thinking the same thing, perhaps the BULLDOG is meaningless however somethings is inside of it..........
Something M wanted to give to Bond without anyone really knowing.

Union Jack Knickers for sure.
Something M wanted to give to Bond without anyone really knowing.
I can see that playing out very well,
some inside thing we don't know about yet between Bond and M.
Then he gets the UNION JACK KNICKERS and cut too scene of him dancing like in the Austin Powers film.
And when he takes off his pants the Bond theme plays like when Bond's parachute opens in TSWLM.

------------------------------------------------------------------The finished article is being displayed at the Bond exhibition at the Barbican, and it's certainly a door.
Certainly. Moonraker door perhaps?

Yes, and that will undoubtedly form the basis for their relatioship as 00 agent and ...new M (?)I don't think Mallory's a villain. I think Bond's just saved his life in that shot where he does the wink.

In which 007 enters the old office only to find him smoking a charatan? "Come in 007"..."Miss. Moneypenny, ..."I think there could be a series of twists and turns where we dislike Mallory, then we and Bond are encouraged to trust him, before a final villainous pay-off that spells misfortune. The only thing that seems clear is that his character won't be cut and dried simply at all; he'll be a real puzzler and we'll be kept guessing right to the final scene.

I think Bond is winking at Eve there, the trailer is just cut to make it look like Mallory.
She could be struggling with someone, Bond's aim has been off during the film, it reflects the PTS - But he winks, takes the shot and kills the bad guy. Something like that.
She is crouched in the general direction of where he winks, you can see her brifly in another shot from that room.

Would make for a nice touch given she missed her shot when Bond was struggling with Patrice. Sort of "This is how it´s done"

Bond enters the ante-office of his new interim chief. Moneypenny (Naomi Harris or whoever) announces him over the intercom. The green light comes on over the padded leather door. Bond steps into the familiar, classic office. POV is from the opposite corner of the room.
We only see the top of a balding head over the back of M's chair (shades of '#1' in FRWL & YOLT).
One line of dialogue:
"Have a sheat, double-0-sheven."
Cut to black, roll credits.
(Shades of Robion Hood, Prince of Thieves)
An old dream, I know, but as this M would only be an interim replacement, the next screenwriter & director wouldn't have to follow up on it.

I could never see Connery playing M, however, I've always thought Timothy Dalton would make a great M.How about this?

In Skyfall I imagine we will watch his character develop impressively. To begin with, he will come across as something of an irritating bureaucrat and to some extent be one. The embodiment of the internal threat to MI6 talked about in the more recent synopsys.
However, when the chips are down, we will discover that there is much more to him and he will display heroism, gaining our respect.
But also, Mallory himself will gain greater respect for the dangers and difficulties of being part of MI6 as the story progresses.
By the film's end, I now fully expect to see him sitting behind the desk in the traditional M’s office – with a rather satisfying conclusion to the film’s themes of the old giving way to the new, resurrection and rebirth.
M is dead, long live M – if you will.

The idea that the producers may very well have nailed down the following core cast for BOND 24 is pretty exciting:
- James Bond - Daniel Craig
- M - Ralph Fiennes
- Moneypenny - Naomie Harris
- Q - Ben Whishaw

Yep - that's extremely exciting.
As you say, he'll be a character that the audience (and Bond) is supposed to instantly dislike, but will win us over during the course of the movie by springing to M's defence both literally and figuratively, before taking on the mantle himself.
I think this also fits in with that early rumour that they needed an actor of "dexterity" to pull off Mallory convincingly.
