I got a copy of it on VHS years ago (ie: when i was 10)- it had a special feature from around the time of Diamonds are Forever im guessing- showing the filming of the elevator fight and an interview with Sean - but I haven't watched it since then- i'll have to dig it out

I do love reading how still divided we can be about if we like it or not, very interesting points.

I'm glad it's got Craig in the poster, the symbolic ones ('DAD', 'QOS') are more underwhelming to me. This is just a nice shout out that Bond is 'Coming Soon', and I expect the theatrical poster to really step up the level.

Mendes is holding his cards close to his chest with this one, and this teaser shows it...but teases us as we know something big is coming, so it works for me!

How about one like Double Team or Twin Dragon but with Bond's long lost sister? or a poster like the film Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot! but with with Bond and M?
I wonder if it would have looked better if Bond was just standing there, instead of walking toward us.
I'm guessing the real poster will be Bond and Berenice right? As normal? I would buy that poster.

The CR teaser trailer ended with a shot especially made for the trailer, Craig/Bond at the casino table – a sort of film version of the teaser poster. The QoS teaser trailer also ended with a shot especially made for the trailer; Craig/Bond walking through the desert with that big gun in hand – again, a sort of film version of the teaser poster.

Will the Skyfall teaser trailer end with a specially made shot of Bond walking toward camera in a tub tunnel with the gun barrel projected/superimposed onto the walls?
I'd very much like it if it did, particularly if it were projected.

When you look at Marketto's shots of the posters, this teaser makes more sense!

'CR' was perfect for the 'new Bond' image - Casino, Walther and Tux.

'QOS' was different too...not sure why, but just iconic Craig, with the pose.

'SF' strips away the need for us to see 'Bond Bond Bond!' iconography and limit the 'frills' to just our established version of Craig as Bond, still with the classic Walther and now the inclusion of the even more classic gunbarrel to just point out that Bond is back, and we're not afraid to show it!


I also like the theory Craig may reenact this poster shot for the end of the teaser, like 'QOS', the gunbarrel morphing in behind him, titles fade up on the screen below him. Could be very classy, and would make the poster seem more suited linked to the trailer.

Guess we'll have to wait and see!

I agree, the theatrical poster for QOS I thought was very weak. The two teaser posters of Bond holding the sub-machine gun in the desert I thought was brilliant. The classic posters were so over the top it was great! It's another aspect that makes Bond films so special. It is the 50th anniversary, so maybe the marketing team have something up their sleeve. I would like a true classic Bond poster rather than Bond and the characters and just a giant action collage slapped with it. I wouldn't mind something like this for the final poster.

If I'm not mistaken that was one of the final drawn posters for a Bond film, afterwards it was to using image stills and action collages etc.

I think it was GE that launched the era of weak posters (although, once again, the teaser - There Is No Substitute - was great) consisting of photoshoped stills from the movie.

That too was a great poster as well. Like I said though, It's the 50th anniversary and they got something up their sleeve. They give us a classic looking Bond poster, their going to do special things for marketing Skyfall.

I really hope they don't waste valuable screen time in the trailer for a reenactment of this poster. For me, this is one of the weakest Bond posters in quite a while. I never thought I'd find myself defending Die Another Day in relation to any of the Craig films, but I'll take the teaser poster for that film over this any day. I'll even take the flaming silhouette from the TWINE teaser as well. At least those two images manage to grab one's attention. If I were to walk into the lobby of the local cinema, and this SkyFall poster was hanging on the wall, I doubt I'd notice it.

That is because this is the International 1 Sheet whereby the dates across the world won't necessarily be October. There will probably also be a version of this poster that Does offer the October date. I refer you to the CR teaser where the above was exemplified.

The extreme example of this is the teaser for Moonraker (Bond standing on space station and surrounded by girls) where there were fully four versions of the same design to cover a multitude of sins.
