Will be interesting to find out how this is packaged - I assumed a box with the individual BR cases within, not one of those awful ones that unfold with the discs sitting in little trays.
I really hate it when it comes to movie box set doing it that way. It OK IF it done for each season of a TV show, like West Wing, Las Vegas, The A-Team and CSI.

I'm going to disagree with Royal Dalton and guess that this is going to be an affair similar to the Star Wars complete set or, more closely, the Mel Brooks Collection Blu-ray set... it seems very awkwardly shaped for a digipak. An annoying, large book with little slots for each disc... I dislike Fox and their packaging trends!
How about Casino Royale, isn't that two 2 discs?
It looks like you'll want to hold onto your Casino Royale Collector's Edition if you have it... there are 23 discs: 1 for each film and 1 bonus disc of what I'm guessing is new content. Unless this disc count changes, that means that all of the special features for Casino Royale won't be included in this set.

I don't like how Fox package it either, one good example of what is not good from them is the Die Hard movie set on Blu-Ray. I forgot to say it MIGHT be OK for flip book type when it just one movie wth more then two discs like the Casino Royale Collector Edition on DVD.

Well, Blu Ray has enough capacity to fit everything on one disc...
That arguement is one I always hate to hear... yes hours of video can fit on a single Blu-ray disc, but then you're looking at a strong decline in bitrate and, therefore, video quality. In an HD format, where high quality is key, bitrate can be a killer... which is why titles like the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition films are still split up between two discs.
AFAIK both discs of the Casino Royale Collector's Edition Blu-ray set are 50 GB already and would see a LOT of lowering in quality if all of the features were to be smashed onto one 50 GB disc.
(BTW, I know you're probably playing devil's advocate, Mharkin, but that sentiment really irks me... that having been said: )
Why don't they just put all of the first 22 Bond flicks on ONE ALMIGHTY BLU-RAY!?

I got the DVD attache case set when that came out. But it's time to upgrade them all now. Once you go Blu you don't go back.

Indeed. Also on the cover art, it's funny how they put Lazenby and Dalton in their own section away from the other Bonds. The fact they cut out Lazenby and used that bloody theme again annoyed me.
Nice trailer, by the way.

I can't say that I find it particularly humorous. It's clearly an effort to marginalize Dalton and Lazenby's contribution to the series, as though they don't deserve to stand in the same spotlight as Connery, Moore, Brosnan, and Craig. Plus, is that really the best pose they could have put on there for Dalton? Clearly it isn't.

Oh, I absolutely agree with you. I meant funny as in strange/absurd/ridiculous - enter any other similar synonym here.

EON's thinking on these releases is obviously about the promoting the current Bond - I'm sure we all get the sense of that - and after that the others in terms of their numerical success (though, interestingly, writing Sean 7th, NSNA, out of history).
Quality is never an issue in these considerations. The fact that Laz's film and Dalton's piss all over Rog's, Brozza's, Sean after TB, and, arguably, Dan's brace never occurrs to anyone.
Perils of mass-marketing to the GENERAL public, unfortunately.

The US price for this set on Amazon is $199. An incredibly good deal per movie. It's unfortunate that this is the only way to get the rest of the unreleased Blu-ray's for the time being but I hardly find this type of release to be unexpected. I have no doubt the movies will be released individually or, in smaller sets, at some point. The market for this type of box set is limited to fans & collectors. After that market is sold to, they will then go after the general public.
What would I would find really annoying is if they release a separate "collectors edition" of Quantum.

Why don't give it a try and sent email it to 007.com maybe they will use it as a third version on their marketing of the Blu-Rays.

Sorry for the misunderstanding on my part.
I actually think I would have had more respect for whoever designed the box art if they had simply left Dalton and Lazenby off of the box. As it stands now, it looks like the two actors are being relegated to the far corner of the box so that the true contributors to the franchise can be recognized as such. Although, I guess it's hard to miss Dalton with that truly awful pose they have him in.

Superb as usual, and much, much better than the official trailer. I think I may have said this before, but you could do this professionally. (Do you do this professionally?)
Thanks for getting me even more excited about the Blu-ray collection than I was already!

Regarding QoS, I agree that it would be quite disappointing if there were to finally be a separate "Collector's Edition" of Quantum to be released around the same time as this set unless it were to include a version of the film that wasn't completely hacked to hell like the theatrical version we have at present... that is something I would purchase in a heartbeat! I'm truly interested to see what Quantum would be with much less editing seeing as the current version feels like it was cut by Peter Hunt on speed and cocaine.
As for the "Bond 50" set in general, I'm glad to finally be able to put my 720p TV ripped versions to bed (don't worry, I already have the full collections of SE and UE DVDs and they're not going away anytime soon)... they're enough of a jump above the quality of the UE DVDs at present to suffice, but I'll be SOOOOOO much more satisfied once I have the whole collection in 1080p with DTS-HD MA (at least I'm hoping that Sony will have CR finally match the rest of the collection audio codec-wise) and I feel that either $120 or $200 will be completely worth the purchase price, even if I'm only truly interested in adding YOLT-DAF, TLD and GE to my Blu-ray collection.
Final thoughts: why is Dalton seen on the packaging seemingly holding his crotch Michael Jackson-style!?

It's never to late to milk the fans by releasing the same movie again in another package. ;-)Is a QOS collectors edition likely? It's not exactly a favourite, and isn't a bit
late now?

Forster mentioned there would be another release of the movie when the original DVD was released. Historically, they have released these "definitive" or "collectors" editions to coincide with the new movie. We'll need to wait & see what happens.

Perhaps the packaging isn't final?
I think the packaging is pretty much final. They made a point of featuring the box in the trailer, which could easily have been foregone had they not finalized it.
It's true that things can change throughout the manufacturing process, but I think the currently featured front and side artwork is at least 95% of what we'll see in October... and I still maintain that this set is going to be a big book.

Eon and Fox has to think again. This can't be the final cover. We deserve better, with poster art work for example. Or something new, made by Jeff Marshall...
Come on, this marks Bond's 50th anniversary!

See my Bond Blog for an in-dept look on the Blu-ray box cover. Although it's in Dutch, the pictures speak for themselves...

Really good work. I donĀ“t understand a thing, but you found all the images that have been used for the cover.
A bit disapointing to see such an amateurish job for a 50th Anniversary...

Agreed. Very disappointing, but it was expected. None of the artwork for the DVD or Blu-ray releases thus far have been good, which is why this new box set being of subpar quality isn't much of a surprise.
