I love Olga.

Does anyone else find the presentations at these things a little... spooky?

Already listed on Amazon at £89.99 along with the trailer;

http://www.amazon.co...6233116&sr=1-29

Boxset to be released 1st October 2012.

That's a much more attractive price than I'd expected.

I echo those who say these will come out individually - but for the big coverage and easy marketing they are coming out in the box set first.

For those of you complaining about Eon/Fox/MGM/UA/Sony and everybody else that has a finger in this pie: they are a business not a charity!

If you don't like the price, vote with your wallet and wait, find it used, find the individual ones on eBay when enterprising people buy sets to split them up and sell them individually.

I don't think Eon is egregious with this deicision - compare it to how the LOTR series or Star Wars series are done and you'll see similar tactics. And thank god they don't pull a Disney and "Oooh, it's going in the vault...better buy it cuz its going away!"

I'm really perplexed by the people complaining about having to pay each time a new format comes out. Did Eon force you to upgrade your television or media player when the technology got updated? I don't think they did.

Can you honestly point to any other franchise on the planet that allowed a trade in of old media for a free version of the newest?

Man, I bought a Toyota 10 years ago - gosh darn it they came out with a new model that has better features - I should get it for free! After all, I already own a Toyota! I want a loyalty card that gets me a free car!

Come on.

Nice one.

With regard to BluRay (or however you choose to watch HD) - it's simply amazing, especially with the early films. I have Thunderball and it looks like it was made yesterday. Simply stunning. Conversely, but not quite, Casino Royale looks like Olga - stunning - especially when compared with the DVD (which in my book looks like it was short changed).

I for one am happy they keep doing this, and I choose when I buy - this time I placed an order (I have five of them already on blu ray, but at £89 for all.... it's just too cheap to not put a market down). I never bought the ultimate edition DVDs though.

Yeah, but what happens next time you take your Toyota for repairs they tell you "yes, we can repair it, Charles, but you'll have to buy these bunch of [censored]ty extra bits you don't really want?"

I think you'd say a little more than come on. Might even accuse Toyota of being unscrupulous... Unreasonable at least.

TBH, Thunderball is probably the worst example of one of the older films looking great on Blu-ray. The film/negatives they used had a LOT of vertical scratches throughout the film and there are many shots where it's quite obvious they were so extensive that they couldn't all be removed. If you want some good 'old school' transfers that look brand new, watch DN, FRWL and Goldfinger.

Speaking of the transfers, I would hope that Goldeneye-DAD have gotten new transfers for the set. From the HD versions I've found of those films online it seems that they used HD transfers from the early 2000's that were quite dated in both the quality of the transfer and the film prints used... they don't look anywhere close to as nice as YOLT-DAF, for instance.

As for the people not interested in the upgrade to Blu-ray... I would think the other reason apart from a general audio/video upgrade from the UE set would be the lack of PAL speedup. I don't know about you blokes from the UK, but the presence of PAL speedup can sometimes make my ears feel like they're going to bleed, or at least like I'm listening to nails on a slate... yuck. And funnily enough, Roger Moore's commentaries feature "NTSC slowdown" as I like to call it, which annoys me just as much. Apparently Sir Roger experienced second puberty!

Special Features-wise, I don't expect too much more to be included on these sets. More features would be great, don't get me wrong, but for the pricetag I don't foresee much more added to the package. The bonus disc is a nice thing to look forward to, but I'm just hoping they'll at least have all of the remaining classic films see their documentaries upgraded to HD as on the previous Blu-ray releases, lest we forget that all of the older Bond films had both a documentary about the film itself and another documentary on a certain aspect of the series... so those documentaries already exist. I'd also like to see the inclusion of the text-less title sequences (especially with the addition of CR and QoS) for the remaining films in HD... those are awesome. Also, fixing the remaining color-timing and other issues from the UE set would be good... cross-dressing Blofeld looks mighty green to me.

Oh, and why the "f" can't I find this up for pre-order on Amazon.com yet!? Nevermind, I was looking for something more substantial in the item title than just "Bond 50." I guess I over-searched with "James Bond Blu-ray" and "007 Blu-ray"...

Seriously?!!! £90 for 22 films? On Blu-Ray. Despite the fact that I already have all the present ones (including the US releases of Golden Gun and Licence To Kill) this is so ordered. Now, please, please go back to using the classic movie artwork.

I'll say this it is very tempting the whole Blu-Ray box sets and that saying itchy tigger finger. I don't think some want that, where they so itchy to buy it and then do that. Afterwards like three to seven seconds later they notice, and say to themselves under their breath what did I just do. That is all because of the price of it. And at where they brought it at, Best Buy, Costco, FYE, Buy.com, amazon.com, Walmart, Sam's Club or Target. It almost like did I shoot that person and he or she either dead or injured. It going to take like maybe 25 seconds to 67 seconds before they say to themselves what done is done. Some are saying it worth owing it but not at this or that price. This or that price are still too much as a sale price at whatever stores or online stores.

That is why they want to know about the individual Blu-Rays or individual box sets that has like three or four of the movies.

Your post doesn't entirely seem to make sense... but I'm going to respond to it anyway.

A pre-order, especially on Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk, is easily canceled as long as the item hasn't been shipped out... so I don't exactly know where you're going with this post.

The three or four movie (or 5-movie going by US release of the UE DVDs) releases are also disappointing because there's a 25-75% chance you're going to have to get movies you don't like in order to get the ones you do... which is probably mostly why I've learned to love almost every Bond film. Even AVTAK holds a place in my black heart... if not sardonically.

True, I would like to see the remaining 9 films released separately on Blu-ray but I'm not going to b*tch and moan about it... it's called capitalism and I'll either hold out until the (unmatching...grrr) individual releases hit the street or I'll bite the bullet and spend my money on this set. Either way I'm going to be slightly disappointed, but I'd personally be quite a bit less disappointed once I had all 22 Bond films on Blu-ray in my loving arms. With home video releases you have to learn to either get screwed now (buying something that gets a better/more complete release later), later (holding out and not being able to get something awesome that goes OOP) or both (run-of-the-mill add-this-lose-that double-dipping)... and you just have to learn to live with it. It's the "name of the game" and whining about it isn't going to change anything.

I'm just lucky that I was able to find all of the individual Blu-rays for good prices and paid an average of $8-10 dollars for all of the movies each... it didn't hurt that there was a good deal on the first 6 Blu-rays with QoS movie cash for less than $48. I most likely wouldn't have seen Quantum in the theatres 5 times (including twice in one day at theatres across town from each other) if I hadn't gotten that deal.

Excellent price, I'll be getting them, I'm just going to sell my other Bond Blu Rays, with the exception
of my special edition of Casino Royale, the box is just too nice.

I prey that we have original poster art on the boxes, then I'll never need to buy

I have a feeling that, due to the shape of the packaging, this is going to be a book-like affair with pages eaching containing a movie on each side of a page... I could be wrong, but I think it's going to be very similar to the Mel Brooks Collection Blu-ray set, just with more than twice the movies.

Also, if you're selling your Blu-rays make sure not to sell off the unofficial ones... I'm sure I don't have to mention this on a place like CBn, but I've already seen a LOT of people disappointed to find out that Never Say Never Again is not included with the set. I guess not everyone knows right away that NSNA is not an official Bond flick. CR '67 never seems to have that problem for some reason... ;)

A bit of bad news for the single disc-buyers:

a German bluray-site reports that the box set is indeed the only planned option right now: http://www.bluray-di...uf-blu-ray-disc

Of course, that does not mean that they will not sell them separately, once the box set is sold out or... well, sitting on the shelves of too many stores.

It's a nice set but it definitely won't be worth the money for me. That's way too much cash to drop on stuff that will only hold my attention for a short time (not to mention the fact that the movies themselves haven't changed). If they release them individually that'll be a different story.

Well what I'm trying to say is this box set is very tempting to get, and even the people who don't like or hate the regular price and the sale price that it is. When it at stores like Best Buy, Target, FYE, Costco, Sam's Club and Walmart will still be itching to want to get it. That is why I used the phrase "itchy tigger finger" from Die Hard With a Venegance, it like people with guns and a person or a happening he or she hates and will open fire out of sudden. Afterward say did that just happen or did I just shoot that person. In this case it would be did I just throw or give $200 or more for this thing. It like not thinking clearly at the moment. Maybe 25 seconds to 67 seconds later they say to themselves what done is done. Well I got it but at a price I don't really like. In the end they are glad they got it, but have to live with the price they payed for the box set.

So that is why they want to know about the individual Blu-Rays or individual box sets that has like three or four of the movies in it. So one don't have to say to themselves "Why did I throw this much money away for this.

That is what I'm trying to say for anyone who didn't understand my post above. Hope this explains it or clears it up.

Unfortunate news. Hopefully EON reconsiders, as I'm not forking over an obscene amount of money for the three or four films I want to upgrade. The DVDs will suffice for the vast majority of the films.

While I do appreciate the concerns and frustrations of the fans who do not want to purchase an entire boxset for the sake of owning only a handful of titles I very much doubt EON will fail to release them individually and I suspect this might happen when Skyfall gets released on dvd/bluray during 2013.

However, just to help put things into perspective I recall a time back in the early 80's when home video was starting to establish itself. The Bond films were released (generally only for rental) by Warner Bros. but if you wanted to buy them which was a market not yet exploited the initial cost 'per tape' was anywhere between £50/80. That was for a film in 'pan & scan', no extras and of a picture/sound quality almost 'Jurassic' compared to what we have on offer nowadays.

The current Amazon UK price for this latest boxset is a bargain in comparison. Working out at £4 a film this is less than half of what we have to pay to visit the cinema. I've yet to sucumb to the temptations of bluray (even Star Wars couldn't swing me) but this set might just do it.

I agree with the price of the set in the UK being brilliant, for all the films and whatever bonus material we get. I mean, they have to cover costs somewhere for the production so about £4 a disc is great value as I bet they already know we have umpteen Blu-Ray and DVD versions. If anything, singular Blu-Ray discs will probably be out but be more expensive on their own.

And as for the Craig-heavy trailer, I agree but I bet they're just using their current Bond and current fan-base to push 'newer' fans into checking out the series if they haven't seen them all, but also reminding people he's our Bond for the 50th Anniversary and 'Skyfall'.;

Ooooh I wish they had more announcements or images or...something!!

Indeed. I remember those days well. I remember buying a couple of the old Warner Home Video VHS tapes as a child in the 1980s - I had NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN and A VIEW TO A KILL. I picked up the former for about £40, the latter for about £20.

I also must have paid over £200 in 2006 to purchase the "silver briefcase" UE DVD collection (only twenty films, of course), which has now been rendered obsolete by the far superior Blu-ray transfers. Nowadays a 22-film Bond DVD box set can be picked up for £50, maybe less.

So you'll get no complaints from me about this Blu-ray collection being sold for £89 (okay, call it £90).

I've yet to sucumb to the temptations of bluray (even Star Wars couldn't swing me) but this set might just do it.

A lot of Blu-rays look no different to standard DVD. This is not the case with the Bonds - the transfers were done with a lot of love and care and the results (so far) are terrific.

Fingers crossed the rest of them will live up to that, (and even better the problems that were in the UE's will be fixed). I'd prefer the best looking and correctly framed transfers, over time spent on recycled extra's that I've seen before.
