Yes, a Cold War thriller, dangerous with just enough 007 to avoid ruining it. From Russia With Love (as well as Dr. No) set the benchmark for what Bond should be, not Goldfinger or Thunderball. Both were classic '60s spy thrillers with terrific villains: Red Grant and Julius No. The girls are still some of the series' best Tatiana Romanova and Honey Ryder. Sorry my answer was a bit of a cop out, but I honestly am not sure which film I prefer: Dr. No or From Russia With Love. Admittedly, for the Orient Express and beautiful Turkish setting, I'll give the (slight) nod to FRWL.

So going along with that, I'll ask everyone else:

Dr. No

OR

From Russia With Love

?

I'd have to go with From Russia With Love... Dr. No, while it set the standard, was rather plain and dull.. FRWL expanded on the Bond universe and had a much more intriguing storyline..

(With it being the spirit (no pun intended) of Halloween), Say Daniel Craig were to dress up as a classic Bond villain for Halloween..Who do you think he'd look better as... Shave his head and go as the YOLT Blofeld with the scar on his face OR Put on a black eyepatch and white tux and go as Thunderball's Emilio Largo?

He'd just look odd with the bald bonce, so play save and smooth as Emilio Largo!

Tatiana Romanova...

Over-looked Connery Bond girl; one of the best ones

OR

Pretty, but dull and rather boring compared to others

Pretty, but dull and rather boring... she's attractive and has good scenes with Bond, but she doesn't really do anything of note except be there...

Kamal Khan

Classic villain played brilliantly by Louis Jourdan

OR

Just another player that gets lost in the shuffle due to the presence of General Orlov ?

I think a classic villain played brilliantly by Louis Jourdan - the way he carries himself and he speaks has a real charming thread of menace to it, rather than one who spends time involved in the action; he orchestrates and drips poison into the plan, a real mastermind behind the evil plans.

Who made the best transition from evil character to good character in their Bond timeline?

Walter Gotell as Morezny in 'From Russia With Love' and then General Gogol in the latter Moore/Dalton years

OR

Joe Don Baker as Whitaker in 'The Living Dayights' and then Jack Wade in 'GoldenEye' and 'Tomorrow Never Dies'

??

I'd say Walter Gotell as Morenzy / Gen. Gogol..

Who was the least convincing actor to portray Felix Leiter...John Terry in The Living Daylights OR Norman Burton in Diamonds Are Forever?

John Terry... personality like a piece of cardboard...

Better at their job of henchman:

Vargas or Kriegler ?

I think....Kriegler. He had good cover and as they both didn't do TOO much, Kriegler put himself out there in danger to stop Bond. I don't think Vargas really got the point.

During Bond's current 52 year run, do you think in any encounters he has, he used "protection"...

YES - He's charming and passionate, but ever so considerate and thinks first before getting on with things

OR

NO - His one weakness, act first and think later with lots of Baby Bond's out there probably

I'm going to say yes. There are no "baby Bonds" out there...at least that we know of.

Worse adaptation of a Fleming character:

Hugo Drax

Mary Goodnight - just, what? Total waste of a character and a decent actress.

Is Daniel Craig making James Bond too...moody?

YES - Devoid of most emotion, he seems to aggressive, angry and fed-up with the world to be totally enjoyable

OR

NO - He's bringing back the real James Bond and already showing he's adapting to different emotion to make him perfect

Bond classic villain that should be re-introduced / revamped for a future film..  Rosa Klebb OR Karl Stromberg?

Rosa Klebb - I would love a modern, more sadistic take on her!

Bond classic henchman that should NEVER be re-introduced EVER... PERIOD:

Whisper

OR

Nick Nack

Nick Nack - Deep Roy? Verne Troyer? Please - midget villains are just up for ridicule now and it wouldn't work.

Which villain could do with a modern re-boot:

Dr.Kananga / Mr.Big

OR

Max Zorin

Kananga/Mr. Big, especially with a return to the Cajun setting of Live and Let Die.

Who could play a rebooted Kananga:

Djimon Hounsou

OR

Ving Rhames

?

Ving Rhames, definitely. Hounsou would be a fine choice too, but Rhames grew up in Harlem... that's perfect for Mr. Big!

Which novel would be better served with a modern retelling:

Moonraker

OR

You Only Live Twice ?

'You Only Live Twice' as is could be visually breath-taking. 'Moonraker' would just be too hi-tech and CGI filled to be passable for modern Bond.

Will Daniel Craig order a martini in 'Bond 24'

YES - About time he has his "shaken, not stirred" moment to become our Bond...

or

NO - Just because it is a Bond staple, doesn't mean he has to fit it in. We don't REALLY miss it....

YES...It's definitely time we actually hear him say the lines "shaken, not stirred"..

Well now that it is pretty definite that Mark Strong is NOT going to be the baddie and its most likely Chiwetel Ejiofor is out too, do you think whoever is cast as the Bond 24 villain will be...someone who is an obvious choice? OR  No, EON will go with someone we never would have expected?

Agreed. We've already had two horrible misfires from attempting to adapt Moonraker. We don't need a third.

No, EON will go with someone we never would have expected. I think they are getting smarter with their castings, case in point, Dave Bautista. That said, hopefully whomever they cast is more Javier Bardem than Mathieu Almaric.

Building on Dove's, would you rather see the main villain in Bond 24 be:

Male

OR

Female

?

Call me a sexist, mysognist dinosaur, a relic of the golden era, but I think it's a mans world. BUT a strong female villain (Volpe, Onatopp etc) is GREATLY needed.

Will our Bond villain have a physical defect (scar, webbed fingers, artificial limb etc)

YES - Subtle, or obvious, but we need another classic villain with a distinguishing identity

OR

NO - Modern Bond villains prove they don't always need obvious defects and this will be no different

Yes

OR

No

?

No...at least not with Daniel Craig's Bond.. Maybe we could have a reboot of Tracy with Bond #7.

Would you like to see a recreation of the classic Dr. No, Bond playing baccarat scene, with Daniel Craig's Bond in either Bond 24 or Bond 25? YES, Craig would pull it off nicely, or NO, lets just leave that scene for Sean Connery?

Yes, Craig could pull it off nicely. However, I'd change the game. No one plays chemin de fer anymore.

Yes

No

Yes....I think the finale will be outside of Europe (away from the danger zone!)

Will we see another Craig Bond Girl bite the dust in 'Bond 24'?

YES - With Craig as your Bond, one girl is gonna die!

OR

NO - Time for a change, no girl will die today!

Yes, with Craig at least 1 Bond girl isn't safe. We already know that Lea Seydoux is most likely playing a villainess, so it's looking likely she won't survive.

Will Bond 24 be:

Willoughby Gray as Dr. Morner...

(Here's one I thought I should do as ultimately the inevitable bitching and complaining about Daniel Craig's hair length will come up again for Bond 24),

Would you prefer Craig's hair length in Bond 24 to be closer to what it was in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall OR the length it was at his introduction as Bond press conference?

Has to be the BMW in 'GoldenEye'...I mean, gadgets come and go in the lab, that's fine, but for a car to be used for less than 1 minute on screen...come on. Such a waste.

Most ridiculous Q-Branch gadget:

The X-Ray Laser Camera in 'Licence To Kill'

OR

The inflatable BT phonebooth in 'GoldenEye'
