I didn't really like the pacing of the clip, it seemed a bit clunky and not urgent enough.

Agreed , The great thing about the Craig era is how urgent and intense the action is ,I really didn't get the sense of that in this.

You did not get the sense of urgent and intense action from that clip...

To each his own, really. But...

YOU DID NOT GET THE SENSE OF URGENT AND INTENSE ACTION FROM THAT CLIP??????????????????????

HaHa your comment made me smile :)
I really do believe that the pacing was too slow,it had no intensity what so ever and the music was just messy
If you ask me the bellow clip reflects the pinacle of action movie pacing,The Intensity is just amazing and the music just feels right
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfYC_CBNtiM

Some may call Arnold's music "Generic",Call it what you want but it fits,It suits Bond perfectly and it gives you a real feel for the action. For those who feel that the action is hard to understand,I suggest you stop watching action movies and start watching this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ichQOqbewA
But then like you said, for each his own

I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark last month when it was re-released in theaters and the action scenes are great due in part to the way it was shot and edited. The camera observes the action thus allowing to show off the stunt work. Stunts are meaningless if the camera is shaking around and the edits are quick and erratic. The quick edits and the shaky cam can work if done right. I saw the Bourne Supremacy in theaters and it was sickening to watch. A hand to hand combat scene was so shaky and erratic I couldn't tell who was hitting who at points and the last action chase of the movie is one big blur.

I think they're both amazing action films with incredible action sequences that are filmed in two different ways.

Now, you´re talking! The colors, the editing, the joy of the creatures - that is just perfect. Exactly what I´m looking for in an action film!

I've seen films where quick editing and shaky cam were used well. Bourne Supremacy wasn't one of them.

Its fine for that scene but the rest of the movie is shot like that so it gets very grating (especially the plane chase).

You should know that the editor of Bourne Supremacy and Quantum are the same (Richard Pearson )
and I love the editing in Bourne Supremacy and Ultimatum , without that the fight scenes would look close to nothing IMO and I feel throughout QOS the editing was really good, the bellow scene is my favourite, so Damn Intense !!

That's one of my favorite scenes in the film. The pacing was well done.

As for the pacing and music in the 30 second clip, please, wait until the film is finally released. It's just 30 seconds. There's still another 2 hours and 24.5 minutes left people.
Judging the pacing and music of a small clip is ridiculous.

I Suppose You Do have a point,
But Do you honestly believe we are going to get action scenes with such pacing and intensity that it can outclass the above ones I posted ?
I know I don't

The shot of the digger window is what mainly slows it down for me, you can hardly see him. They've gone from a lot of very fast cuts to very few and I think it could do with a couple more just to speed it up a bit, like when he is climbing out of the digger.

The context of it is important though, so it probably will be a welcome pause in the action.

Again, judging the film before we've seen it. I'm not saying yes, and I'm not saying no. I'll find out on Nov. 9th.

We've seen one clip, we haven't seen any clips on the assault on Skyfall Lodge, Or the underground train sequence, or the Hashima Island scene (just to name a few).

Case & point: Wait for the film to be out.

Release date should have been October 5th. Makes sense to me. Global James Bond Day, 50 years after Dr. No. then again, I'm not a studio executive haha.

Returning to the thread´s topic: I can´t stop listening to the "iFly"-piece. I´m pretty sure it´s part of Newman´s score.

... and if it´s not, does anybody know who composed it? It´s so perfect for a Bond film - I would love to have MORE of that music!

I tell you what, Mr Newman can do whatever he wants, but all I demand of him is one thing. When it comes to the gunbarrel sequence: don't be shy of the triangle.
It took Mr Arnold four tries to find it and that's why Quantum sounds so exciting. Also watch Octopussy and View To A Kill for that triangle goodness as he does his little walk! :)

Now we've seen Daniel's new gunbarrel sequence I'm hoping for a classic feel

I can dig that, but you probably can't beat Thunderball for its big sound. Living Daylights is pretty spot-on too, although it could do with a guitar, so I think Quantum might actually have it beat.
I'm a sucker for For Your Eyes Only, though. That'll wake you up.

.... I hope that's not it. It looks like new footage of Craig though. What was wrong with Kleinman's earlier one? Spruce it up a bit and it would look great.

I doubt they're finished on the graphics yet so there may yet be another version of the actual gunbarrel image itself, but that's Craig's new Skyfall gunbarrel walk: there's even a clip of him filming it in the ten-minute blog thing.

I do still like the 90's gunbarrel effect: it's a very clever way of making it modern and 3D but keeping the iconic old image. And I love the way it appeared: instead of 'opening up' parts of it were revealed from the darkness as it rolled.
I think they should probably move on from that but I'll be interested to see what they come up with. It'd be a shame to lose the old photograph forever. It wasn't in the Quantum one.
