A clapper in the crapper. I didn't know they still used those things.
The clapperboard not only marks the scene/slate and take number, plus Int/Ext - day or night (all key information for the labs - digital lab for Skyfall - and the editors etc.)
but the board is CLAPPED to give an exact synch point - the single frame in which the clapper strikes the board - for synchronizing the picture and the sound.
Even though the picture and sound can be synced with the time-code these days, the clapper still gives a definite sync point - sometimes there can be problems with
time-code between picture and sound.
The reason the board is still called a SLATE is because the board was made of slate so the sound on the CLAP was a very distinct CRACK which could be
heard by the editors (who sync the picture and sound - now the digital lad technicians often sync the sound and picture) even if there is a lot of background noise in the scene, for example an exterior scene might have loud passing traffic, but the SLATE CLAP can still be heard despite this noise.

So, are they actually filming around Smithfield today?
Most likely a set at Pinewood for the toilet/restroom. A location would be too tight and difficult to work and film in unless is was a very, very big restroom.

And that does not look like the kind of restroom that would be big enough to be a public one.A location would be too tight and difficult to work and film in unless is was a very, very big restroom.

U may enjoy this. When a shot is mute - i.e they do not turn over sound (perhaps because it's an action shot, or there is loads of on-set SFX noise so the sync sound would be pretty worthless) they mark the board M O S which stands for MIT OUT SOUND. It's because the German directors in Hollywood's heyday used to say "Mit out sound!" meaning "Without Sound." And it's stuck to this day.
And that does not look like the kind of restroom that would be big enough to be a public one.

That's right. And with a set they can move walls back for the action and lighting etc. Shoot high angles - the ceiling can move back for such shots, or be moved in for low angle shots etc.
The restroom can be made to appear very cramped when in fact the set allows for all the room they need to shoot the scene.

So, Scene #45. This obviously comes early in the film.
Early? Not sure about... Surely after the credits...

After the credits, yes. But very early in the film.Early? Not sure about... Surely after the credits...
So, Scene #45. This obviously comes early in the film.
In script writing, a new scene is taken every time every time the location changes, and a location is defined as any physical change in geography. If a character is in an office, and the script calls for them to step out into a hallway and into a bedroom, then that's three scenes: the office, the hall, and the bedroom - even if the character is in the hallway for all of two seconds. So depending on the demands of the script, this will probably be one of the irst scenes after the titles.

Broadly, many feature films end up with with somewhere between 130 scenes to 200 odd scenes. The average script length runs from 90 pages to 120 pages - a page equals a minute of screen time - and although that doesn't always work out quite like that (especially with action scenes) that basic rule of thumb is pretty close when it comes to the script supervisor timing the script. Skyfall will most likely have a page count around 120 pages, perhaps a bit more, perhaps a bit less.
If the scene is Sc. 45, it is later than after the pre-titles, I'd guess it's about 30 + pages or so into the script. Somewhere toward the end of the first quarter of the film - approx.

If we are in a bathroom at minute 25 or 30... are we in Turkey already?
It´s fun to do the Holmes until Octuber! with just one photo!

But I really don't think we are getting excited over nothing...
If anything, we are excited at the fact that this is the 49th anniversary of Bond...and they are shooting the next Bond that could be iconic...

Is anyone else excited that Tanner is back? Hopefully he has an even bigger part this time.
But I really don't think we are getting excited over nothing...

Tanner won't get much screen time anyway, who gives a toss if he's back.

That's exactly what happened (albeit maybe not a car park in the SKYFALL script...) The cars enter through those gates into Smithfield car park, which is underground at the bottom of a curving slope. This video from Smithfield is fun:

Looks like Bond is being taken to a car park!

Does he now? I always preferred Michael Kitchen as Tanner anyway.
So M and Tanner will have loads of screen time in Skyfall by the sounds of it...and here was me thinking it was a James Bond film ha ha.
I hope 007 will have a cameo at least!

I suspect Tighty was being sarcastic. I believe that the earliest scenes, including the PTS, are to be filmed in Turkey.
actually in terms of feature length scripts and filming. Scene 45 is early because they break down everyscene by location shots. For example. In one scene you might film at 4 different places. But technically speaking each of the 4 places is a scene, for the editor.
The beginning of CR-
1 Scene would be dryden getting out of his car
1 Scene would be Dryden walking down hallway
1 Scene would be Dyden in his office
etc
