If you are going to shoot someone you do not have your finger on the trigger in the "High Port" position. Period.
As you bring down your weapon you than move your finger to the trigger, pick up your sights, and fire (by squeezing the trigger) if the threat is still presentable.

Many posters and book covers probably show Bond with his finger on the trigger and any 80's action movie will too. In today's movies I would hope the military advisors would get it right.

Yeah, but not only that, the gun is cocked isn´t it? I guess that picture, while being a "still", can be of Bond cocking the gun and taking aim...so the "high port" position could maybe not be a position at all but part of an arm movement. I know, I know, grasping at straws here.

Would you cock a weapon with your finger on the trigger?

Who says he is not about to shoot someone?

Also, if he hadn´t the "finger on the trigger" people would cry out: Oooh, like the life vest on the speedboat, Craig is much too timid using a gun!

By the way, the "finger on the trigger"-pose could not be more Ian Fleming. C´mon, people, which novel?

Original title for The Living Daylights? Brilliant lyrics on a song by the "Boss"? ;)

Close but no Morland cigarette.

Think again! "The Finger on the Trigger"... Ian Fleming...

Oh, right, Dr. No. Chapter...6?

I would. And then I´d shoot the ceiling and Mrs. Doubfire in the second floor would be dead wouldn´t she? Kidding of course. Don´t know a thing about guns. I trust your knowledge on the matter Jeff. Like I said, just grasping at straws.

WINNER!

Always ;)

Another unreliable documentary from the Broccoli farm, then. They lie and they lie and they lie. One would think they were making escapist entertainment, the liberties taken with the truth. The nerve of these persons.

Bloody fools, I´ve been saying. Bring back Haggis and hire Errol Morris or Michael Moore. Even better, Michael Man or Bay wouldn´t let that military detail go by would they?

Also, this classic pose with one foot over the other - total bull. No SAS officer would stand that way. Too tough on the circulation in your legs.

Yeah, besides, a man with white hair on his eyebrows and beard can´t relly that much on his knees ;)

Wait... James Bond is not a... real person?
But he... has a beard!

Chuck Norris has a beard and no peripheral vision and still...not a real person.

Give me Connery style shooting from the hip and finger on the trigger any day! It's Bond. HE can do these things.

More often that not, they've been released on Friday, so tomorrow may be the day.

I'm guessing it will be a clapper board obscuring a close up of something incomprehensible.

Coming from real operational experience I can say that no professional would ever do this.

It's a film. This is not an issue that is going to make or break the quality of the final product. Most people aren't even going to notice it, much less debate it.

Michael Mann's film Miami Vice has a bonus feature on the DVD about a scene that involved using .50 Cal Barretts and the rehearsing and practice and the all the other stuff for the scene. Pretty interesting. Since Heat, most shootouts he has in movies feature the "production sound" of the weapon(s) being fired. Of course it's slightly enhanced, but it's not generic sounds of the weapons have in films. Heat, Miami Vice, Collateral, and Public Enemies have this done. I guess you can say it makes it more realistic when the gunfire in the scene can come off as very real and of course very loud haha.

Yes. With a worn suit and he's also wounded, apparently (see the following picture).

They're filming a foot chase, probably. Here's the ultimate arm camera:

Interesting - he's got the short-cut hair and the earpiece ... I'm wondering, is that the same suit as the one from filming at Charing Cross Station? If it is, then this is probably a continuation of the scene where Bond chases Javier Bardem.

It's strange that we have no photos of Bardem on-set yet ...
