Well, that's OK then.

In all seriousness, any Bond director is going to have at least 4 or 5 characters already cast, and in Nolan's case he and his wife have been producers on their last few films and they made them under the Syncopy banner, which allowed them to wield considerable power at all levels. That's not the case with a Bond film. Nolan would lose a lot of his scripting clout, and casting clout. He would have have a say and he would be able to use "his" people (although Pfister is moving on and I'd hope he'd use Julyan rather than Zimmer for some weird reason), but I think a percentage of the grievances people are having would be moot given the circumstances.

I don't understand why people make the assumption that Nolan would cast all his favorite actors or what not. David Fincher uses just as many of the same actors in his films but that is never mentioned when he is suggested. I'd like to see what other films Nolan will do before giving him a chance at Bond.

A fan of what, Nolan?

Let's see ever since The Dark Knight, Nolan's fan base has their heads so far up his [censored] it crazy (not saying you do) Memento is fantastic, great performances by Joe Pantoliano and Guy Pearce. The Prestige is good, but not a masterpiece. Inception, I like it, but it gets WAY To much credit and it's only a good for one or two play-throughs.

The Dark Knight Is a good film, but it's quite "meh". The Dark Knight Rises is a joke.

Completely agree. Except that I think even The Dark Knight is highly overrated.

I'd be quite happy to see Sam Mendes do a couple more honestly. He NAILED Skyfall.

I would love to see Christopher Nolan do one, but would he be willing to relinquish the creative control he usually has on his films? From what I understand, Wilson and Broccoli actually have final cut on a Bond movie, and I don't know if Nolan's the kind of cat who'd willingly give up that priviledge...

Vaughn has withdrawn from directing X-Men: Days of Future Past.

My thoughts immediately went to EON having approached him. I wouldn't argue.

You know, I'm not as hot on Vaughn directing a Bond film as I am for Craig and Vaughn re-teaming for the LAYER CAKE sequel, VIVA LA MADNESS.

About TDKR: I think any film for children has the possibility of being overrated. I want to see Kathryn Bigalow's 'Zero Dark Thirty', perhaps she would be a good choice for the first female director although I don't really know any other female directors.

Christopher Nolan - by far and away my first choice, he'd make an OHMSS/Skyfall-esque Bond with tragedy and majesty.

Matthew Vaughn - just watch Daniel Craig in Layer Cake or Michael Fassbender in First Class and tell me he'd not make a cracking Bond.

Edgar Wright - strip away the comedy and he knows how to make action fly. Ant-Man will prove a fair bit here but he could grow into being suitable.

Martin Campbell - hell I'd let him do whatever Bond he wanted by now!

Oh and one day I want Sam Mendes back too - he's now in the pantheon of great Bond directors.

I have a strong feeling that Nolan will direct a Bond film in the near future. That said, a Nolan Bond doesn't excite me. I would like to gauge everyone's thoughts on Rupert Wyatt. He did a great job on Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. Good storyteller.

Wyatt could be a future possibility, Apes was very good; but lets see what he does with his next one or two - if he shows the same quality, he should go on the list.

Wyatt not directing the sequel 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes', Matt Reeves is, which I may see now that Reeves is doing it. 'Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes' is on my list of Most Hated 2011 Films. Hopefully Dawn Is Better

The acting, the plot, the characters, the CGI, the direction, the whole film.

I didn't care for it either. I didn't mind the acting (Serkis was good as Caesar and I didn't mind Franco, Pinto, and Lithgow), but I agree on the rest of it.

I didn't know that Reeves was on board for the second one. That's great news. I loved Let Me In, and Cloverfield was an impressive feature film debut as well.

Matthew Vaughn would be superb.

He may not be on X-men anymore but the rumor mill is spreading about him directing another long-standing franchise:

Damn, Disney just bought the thing last week!

Agreed, though I don't think he should strip too much of the comedy away.

My choices are:

Danny Boyle
Brad Bird
Alex Cox
Coen Bros
Edgar Wright
David O Russell
Joe Cornish

Better hope Romney doesn't win tomorrow.

Ideally I'd like Sam Mendes to come back, but if he doesn't I wouldn't mind seeing Tom Hooper or Joe Wright getting a crack at it. In fact, I believe Hooper mentioned he'd be interested in doing a Bond one day.

We can likely cross Vaughn off any list for BOND 24 or 25. Word on the street is he's been selected for the new STAR WARS flicks.

Edgar Wright - strip away the comedy and he knows how to make action fly. Ant-Man will prove a fair bit here but he could grow into being suitable.

I'm surprised to see you endorse Boyle as a candidate, Sharky.

Danny Boyle would be a good choice, however was not impressed with his latest directing for 'Slumdog Millionaire' and '127 Hours'.

Brad Bird did a good job on MI:4, but would prefer him to get a few more live-action films done, before any consideration for him to direct a future Bond Film.

Edgar Wright would be another good choice, big fan of his work.

Coen Brothers could do a good job on a Bond film.

David O Russell is good as well.

The rest, just not to familiar with, sorry gents.
