I guess Hans Zimmer proved with 'Batman Begins' he can create a new signature theme and it work very well. It was brooding and menacing and stuck very well with the character in his new interpretation.
Hopefully he can do this magic with Superman and make something also iconic and worthy of the powerful motif he deserves.

And in D minor with a pulsing string ostinato, like every other bloody thing he composes nowadays.

After a British Batman and a British Superman, the next James Bond will have to be portrayed by an American actor. That way, the scales will be even, since American Robert Downey Jr. is playing Sherlock Holmes.

The Comic Con trailer has been sneakily leaked and it is much more like it: more Superman action, being chucked against buildings, things being smashed, Fortress of Solitude.. all of that stuff. Goes for a very big, operatic emotional vibe; worth a look if you can find it.
That's what I was hoping for in a teaser shown in cinemas more than the other, more sombre one - I hope we get a look at this one sometime!

Superman
Lex Luthor (Business Suit)
Lex Luthor (Armor)
Clark Kent
Lois Lane
General Zod (Rumored to be in film)
Brainiac*
Mongul*
Metallo*
* Denotes they should be made in the spirit of the new film. Mongul and Metallo were made for Superman Returns
I think this would be a good start for Wave 1. The 2nd wave should have a Superman variant, the main villain & main villain variant and throw in Doomsday and Steel for good measure.

I love the original Superman movie, and Christopher Reeve will always be the one who made me believe a man could fly. Even 'Superman II' and 'Superman III' were very enjoyable, but 'The Quest For Peace' was totally wrong.
'Superman Returns' was exciting on the cover, but after a few watches, it felt quite restrained, and trying to be something it's not. I feel Superman needs a really decent film to remind audiences how brilliant his legacy is, and should be, on film like we had with BatMan.
Here's hoping Snyder and Cavill deliver. I have faith, and want to believe a man can fly again...

I've never been a Superman fan. Nothing about this movie has impressed me, least of all Christopher Nolan's involvement. This will probably be a DVD waiter.

Superman was my first comic book. He will always remain my favorite comic book character. Christopher Reeve was the perfect actor to embody Superman, and the first film is the best comic book adaptation ever done.
Having said that, I´m looking forward to Zack Snyder´s re-invention of Superman on film. And the teaser was very interesting IMO.

Certainly a brave new take on Superman, that's for sure. But I think that's what's needed - a sombre, yet epic re-invention always seems to work after a suger-coated mix, like 'Superman Returns', and 'Die Another Day' for 'Casino Royale' and 'Batman and Robin' for 'Batman Begins'.

If Superman Returns and DAD were sugar-coated, then Batman and Robin must be crack-coated.

Like BatMan, this Superman is never going to be the same again.
Wow!
But I do miss the John Williams theme... *sad*

Yeah the trailer does look really cool, and for the record is Superman and Henry Cavill, are they going to be in the new justice league movie?

Like Christopher Reeve, Cavill looks like he was born to be Superman (And I don't hand out comments like those often). I never got that feeling from Brandon Routh. Everything just clicks with him.

I doubt WB even knows.

It's not blown me away, which is a shame, but I hope the marketing continues to promote Superman as the triumphant hero he is, and not a morally struggling alien trying to fit in on Earth (we know he is, but we need the rousing music and excitement because he IS Superman!).
It was very, very Nolan-esque, but don't know if that now is a good or bad thing... how much did Clark Kent sound like BatMan asking "I have so many questions...!"
Still...it's rather exciting seeing him back again... and that final moment "What do you think?" - Hell yes, we need you Superman!

Oh Great. A Blockbuster that will draw inspiration from real life horrors and say something about the place of heroes in the world we live in . Thrilling.

Deal with it - it´s the times we´re living in right now.

Have to say Cavill certainly has the square jawed/god-like look as Superman, in stark contrast to him as Clark Kent - a wonderful flip of the coin for his identity.
I think he's got a near perfect Superman personna from what the trailer shows, second to none other than Christopher Reeve without trying to homage him. Brandon Routh has this problem I think, but he did pull it off very well, but didn't craft his own identity enough I feel.
Cavill seems to be doing this.
