Starkly different in tone to what we have now. Full of quotes and plaudits.

Yeah, but times were different back then for the series. A lot of that was predicated on there being a new Bond and selling Brosnan.
Oh I know. But we were still getting something of that tone with the announcement of the writers on Bond 23 before the recent shut down. In fact, Bond press releases are always like that until now.
Not a big deal, just an interesting change in my opinion.

A wider detailed statement will no doubt follow. Maybe with that elusive title folk are wanting (....?!).

But inevitable none the less: Bond 23 = half a billion at least, just like CR and QOS.It's not been the easiest of journeys to get BOND 23 to this stage of announcement

Interesting how the media, which not so long ago had written off the future of Bond film series, is now going into overdrive about a film which no one will see until 9th November 2012. Proof, if proof were needed, that almost 50 years on the Bond films still attract attention and comment.
As good a day as any, don't you think? Belated happy birthday greetings Goodnight!Bond 23 annouced on MY BIRTHDAY!?

But it was still received well, better than any Bond movie in the last 25 years not titled GoldenEye or Casino Royale. And a 4 year gap is pretty normal for sequels, people are used to it and will remember Quantum, or can be reminded in seconds. Plus, of everything that was negatively received about Craig's movies, the return of a SPECTRE-like enemy to Bond's world was probably one of the most popular ideas.I don't think we'll be seeing Quantum again. The last film was badly received compared with CR. And the 4 year gap. Probably best for box office if they now just don't mention that organisation again.
The Shadow of a Dead Sun?No. There is a third aroma about this one... the new fragrance from Eon... *** ****** ** * **** *** (i.e. the next film).
So the screenwriter of Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Aviator, and Hugo Cabret is probably brought on to add depth and structure to what ever plot Purvis & Wade have concocted. This guy has worked with Scorsese, is Oscar nominated, and has a past with Mendes. I sure am conflicted, I want to believe, but I sure smell more Quantum than Royale.
The Bullet of a Gold Gun?
Die Golden on a Dead Spy?
...that's all I've got.
Well, technically there was a 4.5 year gap between You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever. But I know what you meant. And when the film is in the can, it will be the longest gap between films with the same actor playing Bond.
Here's food for thought; the gap between Bond 23 and QOS will have been as long as the gap between DAD and CR

Oh I've got it...it's THE PROPERTY OF A LADY MAN, focusing on Bond's drunken adventures in Thailand.

Much as I'd be in a seat at midnight for that, I have a hunch it's HOW DEADLY IS A DEAD MAN (Question mark optional?).The Shadow of a Dead Sun?

BULLET FROM A COLD GUN might work. I also kind of like SHADOWS OF A DEAD SUN, largely because it's close to a fan fiction that I wrote once, PITILESS AS THE SUN.The Bullet of a Gold Gun?

Well if you want to get real technical, the biggest actor gap would be 12 years between DAF and NSNA

That pic os Sheen is soooo shopped.

I thought you meant Charlie Sheen at first.
What is wrong with Michael Sheen? Do you hate the rumor because you don't like the actor or that he's alleged to be playing Blofeld? Clearly The Mirror has a source on the set, because they have a picture of him in Blofeld's outfit, presumably doing a make up test or costume fitting. I thought Michael Sheen was one of the best actors in TIMELINE, right after Paul Walker.
Better Michael than Charlie or Martin.
Nice set of rumors today (waits for someone to say we shouldn't be talking about them...).

Sheen in bond 23, I'd be ok with that same with Weisz and Beale.

On the subject of Beale, the thought crossed my mind last night that Broccoli wouldn't go see a play of his in person just to cast him as a secondary character to be used once in one film. She could have easily viewed his cinematic work and made a judgment call there. I get the distinct impression that we'll either be looking at a new M or, more likely, a new Q in Beale. Speculation of course, but it does come across as odd that Broccoli would go to such lengths to cast a supporting role for one Bond film. She must have bigger plans for him.

Well, since you brought it up...I mean, maybe they should take Fleming's name off of the credits. He's had it good for too long, sponging off the 007 name for nearly 50 years and stuff. It's like, you know, Fleming needs to let go, move on, and go create other stuff. It's time to let other people share in the credit. For example:
Albert R. Broccoli's EON Films Presents
Daniel Craig as John Gardner's James Bond 007 in:
ICEBREAKER
Absolutely not! John Gardner didn't created Bond, and the Bond you like to see in the silver screen is Ian Fleming's James Bond, not John Gardner's, Raymond Benson's, Sebastan Faulks', or Jeffrey Deaver's. Fleming is far more than Bond's writer. He's Bond's creator, that's why he deserved the credit all these 49 years!

Perhaps or perhaps the Kerim Bey Mathis character is planned to return a few times like mathis did twice.I'd like a bit more creative casting. Hopefully Mendes doesn't just appoint friends to key roles.
