Wait, is Nov 9 before or after the end of the world?

Before. However I think that the giant UFOs will be here cause our Bond-maniac alliens want to go to the premiere. :D

Maaaan....

Star Trek 2, Marc Webb's Spider-Man, The Avengers, Zach Snyder's Superman, The Dark Knight Rises and James Bond Returns.

Who cares if the world ends on December 21 after all these exciting films have been released? :P

I do hope Bond doesn't get drowned out by all of these entries, a la Licence to Kill. But either way, we have Our Man Dan locked down for a third outing, which gives him a solid three films for us to enjoy (or five if you count Casino Royale as the equivalent of three Bond films, as I do ;))

The good news is all those other movies are summer blockbusters. The producers would have been insane to release Bond in the summer as some other crazy fans here were hoping for but yes, 2012 is going to be an amazing year!

I just pray to God that the script for this movie is a real engaging spy thriller.

It's Begun! Unfortunately I read the news on IGN.com instead of here. Won't ever happen again.

I hope MUSE is doing the theme song. They're one of the great modern brit rock bands out there now.

So no sign of Peter Morgan anywhere. I guess they discovered that winning an Oscar doesn't instantly imbued a person with absolutely no experience in the action genre the sudden ability to create a great James Bond movie. I'm glad they learned this lesson before it was too late. Oh...

Shame. I'd have liked Morgan. I loved "The Queen"

I'd like it to be an EON Production of a Daniel Craig Bond film -- and I hope they finally get rid of the "Albert R. Broccoli's EON Productions" credit, since he's been dead now for over a decade.

Superman's going to be a Winter release. Although as much as I'd like the Man of Steel to make a triumphant return, I'd say his box office performance will be decent at best. It'll likely out-perform Superman Returns and guarantee a sequel, but I don't see it being a record-breaking extravaganza; just as Batman Begins (a terrific reboot that came out some years after an outing with mixed reviews) wasn't.

The first time Bond will be going up against Superman since The Living Daylights came out the same Summer as the tragically terrible Superman IV.

I don't think that will ever happen (fortunately IMO).

Yes! :)

But wow, it's weird to think there were only five Bond movies released in the 90s and 00s combined.

Whoops, good catch. Although I'm sure I was subconsciously removing one of them from my memory bank... :D

Seconded  I like to have Albert's name in the credits. Besides, I won't like to have an American film credit like "EON Productions presents an MGM picture starring Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming's James Bond 007 in a Sam Mendes film..."

I'm still waiting on Warner Bros. to change their name back to Seventh Avenue Nickelodeon & Tobacconist. Come on, the Warners have been dead for years!!!

Under that absurd rationale, they should also remove Ian Fleming's James Bond 007 since he's been dead for nearly 4 decades.

While upon first thought the idea of waiting nearly another two years for a new Bond film is almost unbearable, I've always been one for a big build up and now we have all the fun of looking forward to it - jumping upon the slightest casting suggestion and title song performer is something I find hard to enthuse over in the abstract, but NOW, when any of them could be real, I can really get that tingle of anticipation. There's also the fun of working out what one can read that will give maximum information without spoiling. I love to avoid spoilers and come fresh to the film but don't have the discipline to avoid all information so that part requires some thought. This is great news to kick off 2011 (which I haven't really joined yet. I'm still a bit stuck in 2010).
