GoldenEye is a timeless, enduring classic for a few reasons. Levels that were non-linear yet guided. A painstaking attention to detail and authenticity. But most of all, the very best, most intuitive, immersive controls the genre has ever seen, enabling skilled players to move, aim and shoot with all the ease (or difficulty) they would in real life. Also, the game was hugely original, with so many mind blowing new concepts- enemies that could HEAR? and had agendas beyond "walk forward and shoot"? objectives beyond "kill everyone"? Location based damage? yes, GoldenEye is so old that these were all new, groundbreaking ideas the time.

Agreed. But I don't think this "New GoldenEye" could replace the 1997 one. I just tought it might be fun to get a new version of the game, but of course, that'd be far away of the excellence of the first (and only) one.

Trailer leaked today on youtube but activision got it pulled, looks to be based a little more on the movie than the N64 game (yet true to the N64 game).

Craig is Bond and seems to be doing the voice acting. Showed Scarmanga, Oddjob, and Jaws as multiplayer characters, splitscreen and online multiplayer. Used the casino royale trailer music.

I guess I gotta buy one now. It's gotta be a Wii exclusive or else they probably wouldn't go for it. It is curious to see Craig in it, but it makes sense from a marketing angle. Capitalize on Craig. Bros-Bond must feel slighted.

Thanks for the link. A shame though about being a Wii exclusive. The Wii sucks so hard, and is the most cumbersome to play online with.

Nintendo seems to retain some control over the game rights for the Goldeneye movie, so I don't think Activision had any choice.

Something else I noticed is Craig has the P99 instead of the PP7 and they are using real gun names instead of the PPK, etc (i.e., there's an AK-47).

No, I haven't played it. Not sure my PC would even run it. But I have seen videos of it before, and it looked really cool. It's a shame something like this isn't available for the PS3, because I would snatch it right up.

The focus group stuff that leaked out showed a Golden Classic Controller Pro, so you'll be able to play the game with dual-analog if you want.

I gotta say I'm not impressed. There's still room for another classic Bond FPS out there, I think the missing ingredient is not the fact that it was Goldeneye, it's the fact that after Goldeneye, Rare stopped making Bond games once they jumped over to Microsoft.

This is going to be popular on brand name alone, but there's really no reason for this game.
