If you're bored of straight forward gaming, Blood Stone should be bottom of your list.
It's not. I'm just not a big fan of FPS. They lack variety and all follow the same formula, and GE is no different. The set pieces in Blood Stone are much better than Goldeneye's, with much better atmosphere and adrenaline. There really are no stakes in GE, just a series of shoot em up sections. There aren't any quiet moments to catch your breath, just more and more enemies and shooting. It just isn't that fun to me. At least Blood Stone has some decent hand to hand combat, stealth, driving, and a payoff at the end of each mission. Yeah the cut scenes are shoddy but the game is great fun. It's right up there with Splinter Cell Conviction for me. What can I say, I like Third Person Shooters much more.

However I have been over to my brother's house today, and he has the game, and said that I can borrow it soon

He reckons it isn't as good as the n64 version, but I can't wait to give it a go.

Any news on unlockables? I just completed the game on 007 and there has been nothing so far.
Do you even get unlockables on the Wii? I don't even want to think of what the achievement list would be like it it were released on Xbox. It's SUCH a missed opportunity.

Cheats and stuff probably. Still haven't beaten it, not because the end is particularly hard (it's actually been vastly superior to the rest of it) I just hate escort missions and don't feel like dealing with protecting Natalya just yet.
That bit only lasts for about 2 minutes, then you go after 006, so don't worry.
I love the end of this game, the whole look of the solar plant is incredibly more Bondian than the film. The ending is too (no random lovey dovey music, it ends more like a Connery/Moore film which I love)

Goldeneye is just more fun to play - on harder difficulties you actually have to play it, as opposed to 'press x to win'. The cover system makes the game much more enjoyable - I'm starting to hate being able to see around corners - it's unrealistic.
It's just a shame goldeneye wii can't have better graphics (i.e. on the PC). Here's hoping the next bond game will be more in the vein of goldeneye wii BUT on several systems.

I'm glad the single player is so solid, because the multiplayer doesn't do it for me.

Has anyone heard anything about Goldeneye's sales figures? We know Blood stone tanked, surely GE fared a little better (at least relatively, for a 1-console-only game).
It's in the Raven Software article on the CBn mainpage.

1) If you lose, how's the death screen?
2) If you kill an innocent person or fail a mission, you can keep playing as in the original game?

Questioms about the game:
1) If you lose, how's the death screen?
2) If you kill an innocent person or fail a mission, you can keep playing as in the original game?
1) Bond collapses to the ground as blood runs down the screen, fade to black and then the game reloads from last check point. That familiar (from both the film and GE64) metallic pulse is heard.
2)I didn't really try, but I'm pretty sure the cross hair goes green and the game doesn't allow you to shoot allies. On the harder difficulties there are added objectives which you can choose to ignore and keep playing the level.

Is there an option to toggle it on/off?

Still getting used to the new controller (didn't get the gold one, but got a black one that's exactly the same) as am completely out of practice with playing computer games.

If you're finding the Wii controller a bit awkward, terminus, you could always pick up a 'classic controller' which is a more traditional gaming controller, it's what I have to play Goldeneye :

That, and remembering what all the buttons are for!

Oh, yes, that's what I've got
Thanks for suggesting it though. Got it yesterday from the partner's step-mother (along with a 30 quid voucher for Game to buy another game, methinks it's being kept to buy Bloodstone if my dad sends me enough cash to buy a PS3). I'm just used to using the traditional Wii controllers now, so getting used to the old school controller (like I had when I had a PS2 at Uni) if taking some getting used to.
That, and remembering what all the buttons are for!
Snap!
It took me an hour and half to take a photo of the helecopter.
Only just got past Nicole Saltzgitter singing the title tune - How crap am I at this?

As usual Mr Matt I must agree with you I found both Blood Stone and Goldeneye to be quite enjoyable and the video and pics from the gritty ravensoft game look quite good. I can't wait to play it myself in hopefully 2011.Caught a few more strands of Arnold's score from Quantum in this one. At the end of the on foot train pursuit in St. Petersburg while Bond and Natalya are talking beside the train, you can hear a few brief strands. I've warmed up considerably to this game. Some very Bondian moments, better dialogue (for the most part) and a better main title sequence. It's also a bit more atmospheric than Blood Stone's later levels. We really did get a couple of high quality games this year. Hope 2011/12 will give us a few more gems.
