I liked when the percussion kicks in, but quickly realised that the drumming sucked too.

How so? I'm a musician myself, and liked the drumming, Though it had a nice bluesy groove to it. Slightly behind the beat, and the kick has a real punch to it.

See, that's one thing about Another Way to Die that is rather good: the drumming. Great drum sound on that.

Yeah, a nice tribute to John Bonham by White .

Am I paranoid or do I hear the same chord progression and parts of the song´s melody in the "iFly"-cue?

Could that actually mean that it is Newman´s cue ("iFly") and that he used the song in his score?

I'm no chord progression expert, but I'll bump up the Coca-Cola Zero advert link just in case others can help.

Is it in the Coca-Cola Zero advert, too? I meant the "iFly"-KLM-thing.

As far as I know the music which was previously discussed was that on the Coca-Cola Zero advert on the iFly/KLM website. That's what I've linked to.

Slick trigger finger for her majesty is one of the coolest parts of the song. The rest of it I actually like the drumming and piano.

I have just heard a 30 second snippet of Adele's Skyfall. I'm an old has-been who doesn't listen to (much) music post-1987 so I don't know Adele's other work - apart from what I have (probably) heard piped through an elevator or some other place. I'm sure she's great though. With that said, the snippet I have heard is 101% spot-on. Mathematically impossibly nailed. Terrific. I have a whole new level of excitement for this film now I've heard it. Well done, girl. Well done indeed.

So you think Adele’s voice sounds ‘childish’ when she sings, “Skyfall is where we start,” but lines like “Slick trigger finger for her Majesty” are ‘cool’.

I think we are just going to have to say that you and I judge songs in a very different way.

snip ... but in the more sombre and brooding key of C minor rather than B minor (like Barry's instrumentals of DAF in its score).

What's "sombre and brooding" about Barry's DAF instrumentals? The major use of the DAF theme such as "Bond and Tiffany" and "Plenty then Tiffany" are slow and seductive - a playful tease and appropriate to the tease that is Tiffany Case. This is no Bond's lament.

While there is a dark edge to the closing measures of "Plenty then Tiffany" - I was thinking more of haunting cues like "Following the Diamonds", "Bond Meets Bambi and Thumper" and parts of "Death at the Whyte House."

For all the film's campiness, the score is at times oddly poignant and funereal.

I'd agree with you about the DAF score, Shark. And I'd add the cues involving Wint & Kidd - for all the campiness and the bluesy sound, there's a hint of menace and doom in the background of them.

As it should have ... but we're talking about tracks that have the DAF theme within them and The Shark's opinion about some of them being "sombre and brooding" ... "Wint & Kidd" does not contain the DAF theme within it.

You like sky fall, which is fine. All I said is that the way it was sung sounded childish.........

Someone seems a little desperate for attention ...

Whilst I'm no Adele fan and can appreciate the argument people might say the song "by the numbers" - the preview still gave me goosebumps. This is what I want from a Bond song. I haven't had this since Surrender. I'll be reserving final judgement until I see it in the context of the film, but let's just say I really like what I'm hearing so far. I am not interested in it being cool with the kids or raiding the singles chart. I only care whether it works in the movie.

To me, that's the only reasonable way to judge a song ... how it resonates and impacts you. This "by the numbers" stuff? Just a short while ago, people were wondering just how the heck the word (or words) Skyfall could be in the lyrics - let alone together. Now it's "by the numbers? Well, by the numbers, The Rolling Stones made use of just a few blues chords. "By the numbers" John Barry used the "James Bond Theme" many times in his compositions along with the title tracks. Ultimately, Is that what matters or is it how the songs resonate within you?

Those who say there is no distinct theme need to take a look at this piano cover.

I just listened to the preview and I gotta say it was a lot better than I expected. I like how there was a little bit of the James Bond theme in it. I can't wait to hear the full version.

It's released tomorrow morning at 0.07BST in London. On iTunes it's only 99p to download it from then, which isn't breaking the bank. I assume Adele's website will stream the track too. Just don't expect to find any links to anywhere that you can illegally download it on CBn.

Is the countdown clock on adele.tv wrong for anyone else? On my machine, it's counting down to 0:07 EST, not BST. It says there are 14 hours left, currently, where it should say 10.
