If ANY band wasn't asked but Lady Gaga was, it wouldn't be a Greek tragedy. It'd be a SHAKESPEREAN tragedy. Othello, to be exact, because there would be multiple deaths.

I hope Gaga does it just so my fellow Bond fans can see what true talent she has, mainstream or not.

Gaga?!? That's almost as bad as if they got Madonna to do a Bond theme!

Oh, wait.

I tell you what, they really need to think through who they choose next time. And what style of song they belt out.

Quite embarrassing to dish up something like AWTD after all the media hoopla. It just cheapens the tradition and makes it a mockery.

I'm convinced that if a person can get through the first listening of AWTD and give it a second and third chance they'll find that it's one of the best songs ever in the Bond legacy.

I've listened to it a bunch. I still think it's the worst Bond song we've had.

You're not trying hard enough. You can learn to like it.

Yeah, and if I keep hitting myself on the hand with a hammer, I'm eventually going to love the sensation.

Besides, are you really saying that it's worse than Eric Serra's "The something-something Of Love"?

No. That wins. I was thinking only of the title songs.

I enjoyed AWTD. I must admit I like all the Bond themes. And they all work really well accompanying the visuals of their respective Titles sequences.

Muse is a fair choice for the next theme. It's going to be an artist or outfit from this decade.

It amuses me to read people trotting out old dinosaurs like Rush, Yes, Depeche Mode. As if the last 25 years never happened.

I would love it if a-ha did the theme again, as slim as the chances are. And I'm hoping against M.I.A., seeing as she's pretty vile during interviews and such.

Not sure A-ha completely endeared themselves to the Bond bosses first time round. And aren't they on their ninth final tour / album at the moment?

Yeah, a-ha are currently on their farewell tour and will disband at the end of the year sadly, although at least they are quitting while ahead. So yes when the shortlist is drawn up for the Bond 23 title song, a-ha won't be on it.

I have heard a rumor, (haven't we all about every Bond movie????) That Lady Gaga wants to perform. As this is just speculation what do you think?
Personally, I am very opposed to this notion!
Her music just can't, CAN'T fit Bond in a million years, well i suppose that may be true with the majority these Hollywood types with shallow music.

Now....I would say for a Bond film, next one anyway Depeche Mode!

At the concert on Monday, David Arnold had Paloma Faith performing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She really belted it out: I could see him going for her if it's his choice.

On that note, Sandie Shaw maybe? David Arnold has just done a soaring retro new song with her for the MADE IN DAGENHAM soundtrack.

I don't really think that Muse is "going to be an artist or outfit from this decade"- unless you're talking about the first decade of the 21th century-... the musicians that will become the icons of this brand new decade are not known yet by the mainstream.

Besides, imo, Muse is a way too americanized band for a Bond, and I'm just tired of that, I want a (very characteristically) bristish act for the next Bond theme. So I suggest Jarvis Cocker, Blur, Portishead, Franz Ferdinand, The Last Shadow Puppets or even Bowie (if he gets out of his supposed retirement).

since the last was a combo effort how about Queen + Shirley Bassey i figure it should give the "shirley bassey must sing all bond themes crowd" who they want and it gives us who want rocking bond themes a classic rock bond theme.

It could work
