I don´t know too much of Lady Gaga´s - but right now she is so popular that it probably would be a great marketing tool and the best chance to get a title song to the top of the charts again.

I just hope that the melody will be co-written with David Arnold and not sound like Tom Arnold.

The first sort of professional song written and performed for Bond 23's song submission,

http://www.thepropertyofalady.com/

Just play the song on the main page.

Ouch. That is fairly dire. Over-produced and under-written. Sorry...

Katie Melua. She's not someone I would have thought of as a Bond artist until I heard her new song which is rather Bondian. This is dark, dramatic and moody with a retro Barry feel in places combined with a modern twist. I now believe that her voice would suit a Bond theme.

I actually think Lady Gaga could do a great Bond theme, she's quite a talented song writer. B) I also like Michael Buble's voice, a slow song in the style of Feeling Good would sound pretty sexy.

Seriously this sounds like Bond 23's theme. To me anyways.

Ive posted before this but Paul Buchanan of the Blue Nile would be fab although I would settle for the Depeche Mode sound they deliver these days .
Walking in my shoes was such a Bondin type song imho

These days? Walking in my shoes is 17 years old. Get with the times people!!

Bond songs should be done by modern artists, not groups or singers who've had their time. Imagine if the 70's Bond themes had been done by Perry Como and Slim Whitman!!

I agree. I always thought Michael Buble would be good. David Bowie would be awesome as well.

I watched the BBC1 documentary series "Imagine" last night, which featured a very famous artiste who performed a Bond theme from way back when. All I would say is, on the evidence of last night's show, this performer could still do it now. So, how about this for a "reunion" line up for 23?

Music - John Barry

Lyrics - Don Black

Performed by - Tom Jones.

I've been listening to some a-ha, and realise how they showed impressive credentials for doing the Bond theme for TLD, with some of their lesser known hits at the time. I remember them well in their 1985-6 period.

The equivalent now is probably The Killers or Keane.

The question has been answered: MUSE

It must be MUSE. It can only be MUSE.

They're too portentous and self-indulgent now. They would have been great about 7 years ago, though. When they didn't take themselves so god damn seriously.

The thread can now be closed.

Not yet it can't, because, unfortunately, we don't know when 23 will get made and released. By the time they finally get around to it, some other performer or group may be flavour of the month.

Come to think of it, did any of us predict Chris Cornell for the CR theme tune? Or Jack White and Alicia Keys for QoS? My guess is it will be performed by some artiste or group that nobody would have expected to take a Bond theme on, and the choice of performer will either be inspired or disastrous. The one thing I doubt the choice will be is predictable.

Still, it doesn't stop us having a guess, does it? B)

Something just occurred to me. Wouldn't The Beach Boys have been great for Dr. No, or maybe even Thunderball? I'm just thinking that because both of those films have water and the beach and tropical locations as themes.

Joss Stone. She's just become a computer game "Bond girl" and performs the game's title track. She's a good soulful performer. She's been interviewed over here, saying she would like to appear as a Bond girl.

Discounting Madonna's cameo in DAD, wouldn't it be interesting to have a title track performer who also has a starring role in the movie?

Well not Joss Stone or Dave Stewart, that's for sure. What a missed opportunity. At least the song for this computer game does indeed sound as turgid as all the other Bond computer game tracks.

Oh I dunno, it's alright. The lyrics are seven shades of pus, and it's all thunderingly generic, but on the basis that these things have to have a song, it's OK I s'pose.

The lyrics, I agree, will not win the Ivor Novello award any time soon. But the music on the online snippet I've heard seems "Bondish" (if a bit over blown) and Joss Stone sounds as if she could easily perform the theme tune for a proper Bond film. I stick by my suggestion.

Read this from the Guardian, and, well, the problem of who should perform Bond 23 is solved. The title track, sung by an ex spy, with a glamour gal and her "comrades" on backing vocals! :) http://www.guardian....ussian-spy-ring

I have always wanted Depeche Mode to perform it as well..

If ANY band wasn't asked but Lady Gaga was, it wouldn't be a Greek tragedy. It'd be a SHAKESPEREAN tragedy. Othello, to be exact, because there would be multiple deaths.

I came late to the game with MUSE. I only just became aware of them last October when UPRISING was playing on local radio stations. 10 downloaded songs later, I can't imagine any other group out there but MUSE doing the next title/theme song.

First of all, Matt Bellamy is the real deal. The guy not only has a great voice, but he has great range as well. He's an excellent song writer. And the differing style of songs that they have put out shows a real talent that I don't see in many other groups that are hot right now.

If MUSE isn't asked (and they've made it clear they want the job) it would be a mistake. If MUSE wasn't asked but Lady Gaga was, it would be a Greek tragedy.

I also think that Muse is an exccellent choice. Another band that is really talented is Kasabian. I love them and they have a distinguishing sound. A good choice as well.
