LOL.
I love Scaramanga too. He's an awesome villain. He's the anti-Bond. Christopher Lee played him brilliantly.
While TMWTGG is, IMO, one of Moore's weaker movies, I really love Moore's performance. I love the "So speak now, or forever hold your piece." line. Classic Bond.

My Favorite Bond Film: Can't say I have one. I can certainly name a least favorite, but there's really none the stands out as an overall favorite. Era by era, I could pick a favorite, though.
My Favorite Bond: Timothy Dalton
My first Bond film was: Octopussy
My favorite gadget is: Not overly fond of them, in all honesty, but probably the knock-out gas briefcase in FRWL
My favorite villain is: Blofeld, as portrayed by Savalas
My favorite henchmen is: Red Grant
My favorite Bond song is: OHMSS opening and We have all the time in the world
My favorite Bond girl is: Vesper
Favorite Fight: Hrm, can't name one off the top of my head.
Favorite Car: Aston Martin DB5 and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage

You both have great choices! I also like Connery, Dalton, Red Grant, the OHMSS main titles theme, the DB5 and Volante, the jet-pack, Jaws, the Goldfinger and AVTAK themes, and the Goldfinger PTS fight. It's a very brutal and realistic fight, and it's one that I forgot to mention. (I also love the Thunderball PTS fight with Bouvar for the same reasons.)
Great stuff.

Yesterday I was watching Die Another Day, and I think it's a very underrated Bond movie. The first 2/3's are classic, yet innovative, and Brosnan gives a great performance. The PTS is fast paced, exciting, and a great intro to Zao and Moon. (I really like Moon's "punching bag". It really shows his brutality, and evil.) The tiles are superb, with the images actually advancing the plot. (I do not however, like Madonna's title song. It's nothing horrible, but definitely nothing special.) When Bond is walked out, to be exchanged for Zao, he's confident and defiant, still thinking until the last minute that he was going to die. When Bond fakes the heart attack, and uses the defibrillator to stun the two doctors it is classic Bond. I really love Bond's swagger when he walks into the hotel, hairy and rugged, and acts like normal. More classic Bond. The fight in the clinic with Zao is a classic. It's really brutal and realistic, and is, IMO, the second best Brosnan fight, second only to his fight with Trevelyan. The sword fight at the Blades Club is also superb. It also is brutal and very exciting. The Q scene, with all of it's very fun homages, is one of the best. I don't care for the invisible Aston Martin, but it doesn't ruin the movie for me. I do think that the movie rather falls apart when it gets to Iceland, with all of the not-so-good CGI, but I think the first 2/3's make it well worth the watch. Overall, it IS a good Bond movie, despite its flaws.
Give it a try. You'll like it. B)
Plus, all of the homages are awesome!

Hi 007 fanatic

I made it to your board.

Fave Bond films
1.OHMSS-Why you might ask?I don't know.Perhaps as a boy I couldn't understand what had happened to the real James Bond-Sean Connery. Why the action seem to be much faster and brutal. Why there was one of the coolest sounding soundtracks with NO song. Why George Lazenby moved almost cat-like something Sean Connery was renowned for.Why there was a love song in the middle. The ski chase with the soundtrack.Bond got married then his wife gets shot.I even remember visiting the mountain top restaurant on a school trip to Switzerland thinking I was James Bond.I think because of the actor's weaknesses they compensated by embellishing everything. All I know is that it left an indelible impression on me.

2.Live and let die-arguably Moore's finest where his ingenuity was a perfect marriage with the action, gadgets and humour. Also great characters and I think one of the best villains Yaphet Koto as Dr.Kananga- truly menacing(check his displeasure at Solitaire)

3.Goldfinger/Thunderball-couldn't decide between these two but both truly iconic. What set the bar for Bond. The gadgets,girls,lines,villains,action-where do you end.

4.Casino Royale/Quantum of Solace-both I think are good.Showed how they could take the character in a different direction and holy cool at the same time.Kudos to the producers it was a brave decision.

5.Goldeneye-Brosnan's best. Brilliant updating of Bond and the best tank scene ever.

6.Living Daylights-Dalton was at the wrong place at the wrong time and not given the credit he deserved.Still stands up well today.

7.Licence to kill-you wanted this man as your mate.Joyous entertainment.Maybe that was the problem with it.

8.The spy who loved me-the lotus and parachute jump,jaws-need I say more.

The worst film

Without shadow of a doubt a A VIEW TO A KILL.This is where Moore should have hung his boots up two films earlier.Snow boarding to surfin' USA,cars being chopped in half,Moore walking at five miles per hour and beating the baddies at 20 mph and kissing Tanya Roberts it was more like father/daughter.

I'LL PROBABLY DO ANOTHER POST SOMETIME

My Favorite Bond Film: Goldfinger or From Russia with Love (depending on the day)

My Favorite Bond: Tie between: Connery. Probably. But I lean toward Craig occasionally. The two are in a league of their own, and I think that's saying something, as I consider all the Bond actors to have been exceptional choices.

My first Bond film was: I think...The Man with the Golden Gun. On VHS. I had maybe seen 10 minutes of GoldenEye on television before that.

First in theaters: The World is Not Enough

My favorite gadget is: Briefcase, definately.

My favorite villain is: Blofeld. Dominic Greene gets an honourable mention for the genius of his character.

My favorite henchmen is: Red Grant. I almost listed him as a full villain instead, he deserves to be.

My favorite Bond song is: You Know My Name

My favorite Bond girl is: Vesper Lynd. Pussy Galore close behind.

Favorite Fight: Bond vs. Red Grant is the best, but Bond vs. Slate is my personal favourite. Right now, of course.

Favorite Car: Aston Martin Vanquish

BEST SCENE IN EACH BOND MOVIE:

Dr. No: TIE: Honey Rider. Beach. Enough said.

FRWL: Bond and Tania meeting is the most iconic, but the opening stalking vs. Grant and the eventual fistfight aboard the train are the most fun to watch.

Goldfinger: Miami sequence, laser beam sequence, Bond & Pussy on the plane...too many to pick. Not going to try.

Thunderball: Bond goes to Largo's for lunch.

YOLT: Little Nellie, probably. But I like stuff with Osato's office.

OHMSS: The arrival at Piz Gloria. Barry's perfect score combined with beautiful photography and clever dialogue make it the best sequence in the entire series and, in my opinion, a definitive statement of the cinematic James Bond.

DAF: "Plenty O'Toole." "Named after your father, perhaps?"

LALD: Bond's infiltration/seduction of Solitaire.

TMWTGG: Bond and Scaramanga's lunch. Nice little bit of succinct, pointed dialogue.

TSWLM: Ski Jump. Honourable mention to the Lotus coming out of the water.

Moonraker: Skydiving. All downhill from there.

FYEO: Ski chase has some amazing adrenaline to it, even when watched today. Locque's death is the closest thing to Fleming, and Roger's most badass moment as Bond.

Octopussy: Plane battle at the end.

AVTAK: Golden gate fight.

TLD: Very Fleming-esque adaptation of the short story that is used as the film's opening narrative.

LTK: Tanker chase.

GoldenEye: Bond vs. Xenia, and the best pretitles sequence in the history of Bond films. Well, one of the best.

TND: Parking garage chase. Scenes with Paris are under-appreciated. Scene with Q is also memorably classic.

TWINE: TIE: Bilbao Bank, and Bond confronting Elektra at the end.

Die Another Day: Aston Martin chase.

Casino Royale: All gems, start to finish, but the winner is the final scene with White which, first frame to last frame, is aesthetically and tonally perfect - ending with "The Name's Bond, James Bond."

QoS: Opening tension leading to the car chase, M and Bond's confrontation (+ Bond's escape) from the hotel, and the final scene with Greene in the desert.

My top ten movies:
1 GF
2 FRWL
3 CR
4 OHMSS
5 DN
6 TSWLM
7 GE
8 QOS
9 TLD
10 LTK or FYEO

Favorite Teasers: Goldeneye, From Russia with Love, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace

Great choices! I like Goldfinger, OHMSS, Oddjob, Craig and Connery too. It's also great to know someone else really likes Sanchez. He's an excellent villain. He's probably the most realistic villain in the series, and Davi playes him brilliantly. He can be cold-blooded and ruthless, yet, to those loyal to him, he is generous and friendly. It shows true madness.

It shows Bond being brutal and ruthless, considering he thought the shotgun was loaded. Great scene. I now 'officially' declare it my new favorite AVTAK scene. B)

Even though it's been posted before, here's an hilarious Bond video:

But, I do wish that they had made less fun of Craig, and more fun of Brosnan.
Still, it's great!

Well so long as we're covering first in theatres, it shames me to admit but, Quantum of Solace.

I saw a lot of Moore films on VHS at my cousin's and I remember wanting to see Die Another Day back in 2002 when I saw a TV spot for it, but mom gave me a flat out no, and being 10 I very well couldn't take myself. And I was completely unaware of the existence of Casino Royale until I went to Blockbuster out of boredom the very same day it came out on DVD.

I was watching Quantum of Solace, and I can now "officially" declare it my new Number 2 movie.
NEW Bond movie order:
1. Casino Royale

I was thinking ... which of the many cars that Bond has driven is the best? For me, it comes down to three cars: the Aston Martin DB5, the Lotus Esprit submarine and the remote controlled BMW 750IL.

In my opinion, the best car is the BMW 750IL. While the other two are classics, I like the modern re-interpretation of the Bond car, with it's array of fantastic gadgets (tire spikes, rocket launcher, re-inflatable tires, electrical security system and, of course, the remote control capability which allows Bond to drive the car without actually being in it), this is truly the best Bond car. Not to mention it's featured in one of the best chases in the series.

So here comes another "official" change:
NEW favorite Bond car: BMW 750IL

A few thoughts...

First is the CBn Bond movie review pages.
Currently, I have them printed out, since they're very interesting reading material.
I don't mean to insult anyone, but it saddens me that a few movies are negatively biased. Those movies are the excellent The World Is Not Enough, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever, and For Your Eyes Only, and the decent Die Another Day.
I like to see all of the movies, which are all excellent in their own way, in a positive light.
I guess you could say I'm biased, in loving them all. B)

Second is Never Say Never Again.
It's a movie that has grown on me recently. (But I always loved it, it's just moved higher on my rankings.)
I've decided to do a face off: NSNA against the classic and personal top five favorite Thunderball.

Bond: For me, it comes down to a tie. Connery is always good. I think Connery is appropriately serious in the more seriously minded Thunderball, and appropriately humorous in the more light-hearted NSNA.

Bond Girl: Thunderball wins hands down. Personally, I don't care for Bassinger's acting, since It's rather flat. Beauty wise, TB's Domino also wins. She's very beautiful.

Villain: Thunderball wins again. IMO, Largo is supposed to be a rugged, and tough person, not the rather unintimidating Maximillian Largo from NSNA. Celi as largo was perfect for the role.

Femme Fatal: Another tie for me. I really like both Fiona Volpe, and Fatima Blush. Both are evil in their own way. Volpe has wit, and Blush has menace.

Felix Leiter: Never Say Never Again wins hands down. Bernie Casey is excellent as Felix. You really get the feeling that he and Bond respect each other and are good friends. Nutter is bland. Simple as that.

Plot: Once again, Thunderball wins. There is genuine suspense and tension in TB, which is not as apparent in NSNA.

Final Battle: Another Thunderball win. I'll probably get a lot of criticism for saying this, but I love the TB underwater battle. Just imagine the reaction at the time. People were probably amazed and when I fist saw it, and whenever I see it again, I am amazed too. I'll admit that the three shots of sea life were unnecessary, but nothing's perfect.

Over all, Thunderball wins, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give the excellent Never Say Never Again a try.

My Favorite Bond Film: The one I'm watching!!! Goldfinger when forced to choose.
My Favorite Bond: Again the one I'm watching. Craig if forced to choose.
My first Bond film was: Moonraker --in theaters.
My favorite gadget is: Belt from Goldeneye/DAF
My favorite villain is: Goldfinger.
My favorite henchmen is: Oddjob.
My favorite Bond song is: Whichever. Goldfinger maybe? Live and Let Die?
My favorite Bond girl is: Magda. At thirteen I'd never heard any woman say any form of 'p#!%y' before and as far as exits, hers over the balcony has to be in top ten all of cinema.
Favorite Fight: Bond and Trevalyn on the dish in GE ties with any of Craigs especially the bathroom at start of CR.

Favorite Car: Lotus or DBV (with modifications.) Dalton's AM in TLD was aesthetically pleasing as well sort of muscled elegance.

Great choices! I also have been known to like whichever Bond (movie and/or actor) that I'm currently watching. I also like Criag, Auric Goldfinger, Oddjob, and Magda. She's a very underrated Bond girl.

I don't know that Magda is underrated but I suspect most have a fond spot for their 'first' Bond girl. Granted I'd seen Moonraker and then a bunch of earlier Bonds as they came on HBO but OP was the first Bond after puberty and Magda was just all that and a bag of chips.

I guess underrated is the wrong word. Maybe "overlooked"?
I agree. She's a great Bond girl.
Thinking of my fist Bong girl, I guess that would be Jill Masterson from Goldfinger.

Great choices! I like the exploding pen too. I love the scene where Bond has to concentrate on the number of clicks. I also like Sanchez, Jaws, Natalya, The World Is Not Enough the song, it's on my "Bond Favorites" playlist, (BTW, I love TWINE the movie too.) and I also really like all of the Bonds. Each is excellent in their own way:
-Connery brought ruggedness and toughness
-Lazenby brought emotion and was a great fighter
-Moore brought humor (mostly funny, but sometimes misplaced) to the series
-Dalton also brought emotion, and a realistic touch
-Brosnan brought the right balance of humor and action
-Craig brought cold-bloodedness and ruthlessness, but also humanity and vulnerability, and is also a great fighter

I totally agree with the list of what each different Bond actor brought to the character! great observations B) Connery was definitely the rugged type, Moore was a bit silly at times and on to Craig creating a sense of vulnerability. I find it hard to dislike any of the Bond's.

I was watching Quantum of Solace (my new #2 movie, if you hadn't read one of my previous posts) and it is such an awesome movie, second only to Casino Royale. It features another excellent performance by Craig, and the two Bond girls, Camille and agent Fields, portrayed by Olga Kurylenko and Gemma Arterton respectively, are also great. Also giving excellent performances are Judi Dench as M, Jeffery Wright as Felix Leiter (My favorite M and Leiter respectively), and Mathieu Amalric as Dominic Greene, an excellent and realistic villain.
I'll list the things that make it awesome, in what I hope is chronological order:

- The PTS. It's the best Craig chase, and the best chase since the Tomorrow Never Dies BMW 750IL chase. It's gritty and realistic, and I really love that when the black cars crash, the don't explode (!). I also love how Bond coolly dispatches the second black car's driver. Classic Bond.

- The chase after and fight with Mitchell. Right after the excellent Mr.White interrogation scene is this: One of the best foot chases (I like it better that the chase after Mollaka, since that's a little to long) in the series. The stunts are amazing, and though out the whole chase, I can only see one CGI effect. (And it's good CGI, unlike the Die Another Day CGI.) Once again, I love how Bond dispatches his adversary. Quickly as he can, he twists upwards and shoots a single shot. More classic Bond.

-The opera scene. Great stuff as Bond tricks the members of Quantum into leaving, and proceeds to identify them. (Of course Mr. White is smart enough not to fall for that.) Then the great fight/chase through out the building, intercut with scenes of death during the opera.

-The fight between Bond and Greene. It's a brutal and realistic fight, and I love it. It shows a man terribly outmatched (Greene) and an experienced fighter (Bond) slugging it out. The fight between Camile and Medrano is also excellent.

-Best part? The ending. Bond finally meeting the man who caused Vesper to betray him is one of the most powerful moments in the series. Bond's dialog with M is classic and also powerful. The ending line "I never left." accompanied with Bond leaving Vesper's necklace in the snow with Vesper's theme playing, put together, equals the best ending in the entire series. It is so unexpected and moving. It is one of the best scenes ever, let alone endings.

Watch Quantum of Solace. It's fantastic. It is truly an example of what a perfect Bond movie should be.
