-Connery brought ruggedness and toughness
-Lazenby brought emotion and was a great fighter
-Moore brought humor (mostly funny, but sometimes misplaced) to the series
-Dalton also brought emotion, and a realistic touch
-Brosnan brought the right balance of humor and action
-Craig brought cold-bloodedness and ruthlessness, but also humanity and vulnerability, and is also a great fighter

I totally agree with all this. It's the reason I don't have a favorite Bond. Asking which Bond is my favorite is like asking if I like tables or chairs better. Two entirely different things that are left more useless without the other.

I completely agree with you. Each Bond brings unique things to the "table" B).

Earlier I said:
"After watching YOLT, and DAF, I now don't like Charles Gray's Blofled, and I now really like Donald Pleasance's Blofeld. He's now my favorite "seen" Blofeld.
I love when they reveal his face. It's a classic Bond moment. Pleasance is definitely my favorite Blofeld. B)"

I think I rushed this decision. I still like Pleasance, but I really like "The unseen Blofeld" from From Russia With Love and Thunderball, palyed by Anthony Dawson (body) and Eric Pohlmann (voice). To me, he's more iconic. He is the Blofeld we are introduced to, and the one that I remember the most fondly. Both of his main scenes (The meeting with Klebb and the SPECTRE meeting) are awesome, and as perfect as any villain scene.

I hope that they bring back SPECTRE and Blofeld. Maybe he's the unrevealed head of Quantum, and later becomes head of SPECTRE? We might never know since Bond 23 won't be a third part to the Quantum saga. I sort of wish it was...
Maybe Bond 24 will end the Quantum saga? We will see.

I'm a literary Bond fan, the movies are footnotes in my eyes or pleasant diversions.

I am too and i share your opinion about the movies.

My "best of" :

My Favorite Bond Film: FRWL.

Connery IS James Bond, the film and the book are very similar. The casting is the best of all.

My Favorite Bond: Impossible !

Each actor reflects Bond in his era. But Dalton was James Bond from head to toe. Craig...I've got a problem with him...He looks like Red Grant! The movies are built for HIS Bond, something between Bourne and Bauer. It's a post 9/11 007.
Brosnan was perfect as 007, just tie between Dalton, but the films weren't built for him...

I don't know that Magda is underrated but I suspect most have a fond spot for their 'first' Bond girl. Granted I'd seen Moonraker and then a bunch of earlier Bonds as they came on HBO but OP was the first Bond after puberty and Magda was just all that and a bag of chips.

I guess underrated is the wrong word. Maybe "overlooked"?
I agree. She's a great Bond girl.
Thinking of my fist Bong girl, I guess that would be Jill Masterson from Goldfinger.

After watching For Your Eyes Only for my first time I grew to like two various scenes in particular.
1.) The underwater scene
2.) Locque's death
I enjoyed the humor in Bond saying to speak only when necessary in order to conserve oxygen in the breathing tanks, however he continued to chit chat! B) But, Moore continued to display his sense of adventure while having fun as Bond!

Great choices! I'm not a big fan of the books, since Fleming's a total bigot. He's racist and sexist, and that offends me very much.
BTW, I love Craig. He's the best Bond actor.
I also like the briefcase, Red Grant, Onatopp, Volpe, Sean Connery, Blofeld (but my favorite incarnation is the "Unseen Blofeld" in FRWL and Thunderball), Goldfinger the song (and movie), and Tracy.
Thanks for posting! B)

BTW, why did you post the "Quicksilver Messenger Service - Fresh Air" video?

I agree. Both scenes are great!
Locque's death is the best moment in the Moore Bond movies. When he kicks the car off the cliff, it's brutal, cold-blooded, and ruthless, just how I like it. I love when he coolly stands in front of Locque's car, and fires.
The underwater retrieval of the ATAC is unintentionally hilarious. Even after he says to conserve air, he just keeps on talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and... (It goes on for infinity). B)
Still, the second best Moore movie after Octopussy.

No sir, Ian Fleming wasn't racist or sexist. He was a man of his time ! He was like thousand and thousand other men and women ! You stigmatize a man while he was the exemple of a general way of thinking!
You should read more books of this time or about the way of life in the beginning of XX century! Tintin in the Congo for example!
May I remind you Commander Ian Fleming fought the nazis ! So please respect !

I disagree 100%. He WAS a bigot. I remember reading about a passage in Goldfinger, where he said that Koreans were lower than apes. He is more extreme than most people at the time, and I know most people agree with me that he's a bigot.\
The only thing I thank him for is creating Bond, so we could have the best movie series ever made.
BTW, my Grandfather fought the nazis and was a POW, so respect him!

He's only so bigotted, racist and sexist as his fictional creations and you rate them very highly.

Isn't it interesting how the term "favourite" can be so limiting when discussing something as wide ranging as James Bond...?

Octopussy is a great movie! It brought back more adventure to Bond films keeping the watcher excited with the suspense and action in some way. However, seeing Bond disguised as a circus clown was a little strange, haha. B) Great scenes showing the locations and each character in the movie did an exceptional job from the henchmen to the bond girls! overall, definitely a must see of the films.

Octopussy is a great movie! It brought back more adventure to Bond films keeping the watcher excited with the suspense and action in some way. However, seeing Bond disguised as a circus clown was a little strange, haha. Great scenes showing the locations and each character in the movie did an exceptional job from the henchmen to the bond girls! overall, definitely a must see of the films.

I agree on the Quantum scene! I also like when he knocks out the guards in the elevator.
I also love Octopussy. It's my definite favorite of the Moore era, and it's truly a classic Bond movie. I love everything in it except two things: 1) telling the tiger to "SIT!" and 2) the Tarzan yell.
Otherwise, it's great! I really love the auction scene. It shows that you don't need action to be exciting.
Thanks for posting!

My first Bond film was: Dr No (On VHS at this time !)
First in theaters: Octopussy

My favorite gadget is: The Trick Briefcase / The "snow jacket"

My favorite villain is: Le Chiffre

My favorite henchmen is: Red Grant

My favorite henhwoman is : Xenia Zargeyevna Onatopp / Fiona Volpe

My favorite Bond girl is: Vesper Lynd / Magda (Octopussy Girl)

My favorite Bond song is: You Know My Name

Favorite Fight: The attack of the gipsy camp. The score "007" rocks !

Favorite Car: Aston Martin DB5 / BMW 750iL / Aston Martin Vantage V8 / Aston Martin DBS / Lotus S1

Favorite quote : James Bond: That gun... it looks more fitting for a woman.
Emilio Largo: You know much about guns, Mr. Bond?
James Bond: No, but I know a little about women.

Favorite book : Moonraker

My Favorite Bond Film: From Russia With Love
My Favorite Bond: Sean Connery
My first Bond film was: From Russia With Love
My favorite gadget is: Velcro tuxedo collar
My favorite villain is: Ernst Stavro Blofeld/Telly Savalas
http://arcona.files..../11/blofeld.jpg
My favorite henchmen is: Oddjob
My favorite Bond song is: Goldfinger
My favorite Bond girl is: Tracy Draco
Favorite Fight: Bond vs Red Grant

I don't know that Magda is underrated but I suspect most have a fond spot for their 'first' Bond girl. Granted I'd seen Moonraker and then a bunch of earlier Bonds as they came on HBO but OP was the first Bond after puberty and Magda was just all that and a bag of chips.

I guess underrated is the wrong word. Maybe "overlooked"?
I agree. She's a great Bond girl.
Thinking of my fist Bong girl, I guess that would be Jill Masterson from Goldfinger.

Great choices! I'm not a big fan of the books, since Fleming's a total bigot. He's racist and sexist, and that offends me very much.

He's only so bigotted, racist and sexist as his fictional creations and you rate them very highly.

Isn't it interesting how the term "favourite" can be so limiting when discussing something as wide ranging as James Bond...?

I would appreciate it if you posted your favorites.

I also like The Living Daylights, Casino Royale (both in my top 10), Blofeld (I like Savalas, but my favorite is the "Unseen Blofeld from From Russia With Love and Thunderball), Greene, Kara Milovy, the ghetto blaster (it really is hilarious), and too many of your favorite scenes to list. B)

I love the game From Russia With Love.
First, it's based on the movie, so it has the basic plot of the movie (better that the book), plus more!
I'll list why it's the great:

-The voice work. Connery returns as Bond! Even if his voice sounds slightly different, it's so awesome to have him back that I don't care. The actors who imitate the other characters are the best, especially Klebb and Grant.
-The graphics. Simply superb.
-The Bond focus aiming. It is the best aiming system in any game. It allows you to target a specific part of an enemy, such as a grenade on his belt, causing it to explode. Or the rope he's hanging on, causing him to fall to his death.
-The vehicles. The return of the Aston Martin DB5, complete with rockets, machine guns and tire slashers. You also pilot the Thunderball jet-pack, which is immensely cool.
-The Gadgets. All are creative, and very fun to use. I love the laser watch.
-The multiplayer. Simply awesome, you play as one of many villains, including: Goldfinger, Dr. No and Red Grant.

Play this game. You'll love it! B)

I'm thinking of renting Quantum of Solace the game for PS3...
It looks awesome!
It might be my new favorite Bond game...
We shall see.
