Jets/Colts

I watched that one too. What an absolute farce of a game. The Colts should refund the price of admission to the fans that came out to watch the game, and they should be embarassed for just handing the Jets the chance to control their own playoff destiny when they did absolutely nothing to deserve that opportunity.

Last TV show I watched attentively was Шерлок Холмс и доктор Ватсон (Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson), which is the overarching title for the first two episodes of the Lenfilm series. Presently have Cartoon Network running as background noise, and am contemplating getting off my lazy B) and finally checking out Castle.

I'm 3/4ths of the way through Season 3, which I am finding to be very spotty. Sometimes it's great...and sometimes it feels like we're treading water or repeating ourselves.

Seasons 2 and 3 are the best. I love season 3 for introducing Andy, who has easily become one of my favorite characters. Season 4 is probably the worst. It was during the writer's strike, so there are less episodes, but even the ones they filmed and showed were really lackluster, and the direction the plots take are just too out there, annoying, and dark. And the first 4 or 5 of them are 45 minutes long, so the rest seem too short in comparison. But. Season 5 is effing brilliant - they really got back on track for that one, back to what made The Office a great show, even with some drastic plot changes, it's really one of the best seasons (and has the best cold open ever. Hands down.). This current season, though . . . well, that's another story.

As I go through the season, I start to find that Michael Scott is more inept and oblivious than David Brent was, which makes Michael a somewhat harmless character. He doesn't mean to be the way he is, which is why I think his character arc will ultimately be less satisfactory when the show ends than was David Brent. When the U.K. series ended, Brent had come to some sort of an epiphany that he needed to mature, both in and outside the office. I don't think Michael Scott can do that, because he comes across as if he was dropped on his head at a young age.

Odd - I feel the exact opposite. I think that's what will make for a great series finale - there won't be an epiphany moment, which I always find eye-rollworthy. And this is the U.S. - we like our tv d-bags a little bit lovable. B) Me included.

You're right about the "icky" performance from Gervais; I can't offer you any advice to get around it. He's playing a fairly repulsive character inside and on the outside.

BJ Novak appears to have come out of virtually nowhere. Somehow he knew the right people at the right time and manage to become a writer, an actor, and an associate producer on the show. He also knew John Krasinski before THE OFFICE, so that's how they ended up working together. I'm not buying the Ryan and Kelly or the Jan and Michael love stories; they are two office romances two many. I like Dwight and Angela and Jim and Pam.

Yeah, I'm never going to get over my repulsion of David Brent. Don't get me wrong, Ricky Gervais is great (I may be one of the only people who loved "The Invention of Lying"), but David Brent is what keeps me from going back to the UK version.

And I'm just not a fan of B.J. Novak the actor, or Ryan. Some of the episode's he's written have been quite good, but I honestly think he's only on the air because he's probably demanding it. I don't care for the Ryan/Kelly love plot, but I love Jan and Michael (have you seen the cocktail party episode yet? Jan is fantastic in that one). However, season 5 gives us the best office romance since Dwight and Angela: Michael and Holly Flax.

Also, have you seen Parks and Recreation? As much as I love "The Office," my love for Parks and Recreation runs so much deeper. It's in the same style of The Office, and same "creator" of the US Office (Greg Daniels), but I find it much more enjoyable. If you're in the UK though, I'm not sure how available it is, or even if the first season is on Region 2.

ETA: Yeah, so . . . you're not in the UK, Gravity's Silhouette, so feel free to watch P&R at your leisure.

Been watching LFC vs Villa. Still 0-0 and just barely past the half. Came close to scoring some goals earlier in the game, though, so I'm hopeful Liverpool will get in at least one before the end. Although if it stays 0-0 at the end I hope they go into extra. Incredibly unlikely for this sort of game, but I'd like to see a win in the end. Hate 0-0 games.

Watching the first season of Glee on DVD. It's interesting to go back to the beginning of the series and get a reminder of what the episodes were like before things truly became outrageous later on in the year (not that that's a bad thing). Still a great show, one of the best on TV.

The Office Marathon.

Not a big fan of the show, but there was nothing better on TV last night.

The "Gossip" episode is great, but the rest were meh. This isn't the best season of the show . . .

Lois & Clark on DVD. The episode where Raquel Welch plays a TV reporter/criminal assassin who's both trying to discover and expose Superman's secret identity and who kisses Superman with Kryptonite lipstick.

Just had a quick read through this thread - why do so many of the posters say what they're watching without saying what they think? May as well make a list.

RESCUE ME - Season 5

Breathtakingly good. Extremely funny and touching without being obvious at all. One of those rare shows that don´t get worse but steadily improve and deepen. With the end in sight it will go out on the highest note, I´m sure.

I've always struggled to get into 'Rescue Me' but I have a lot of friends who love it...maybe I'll try and get back into it someday;

I just got caught up with Flash Forward; very impressed so far and look forward to it returning in March...

I borrowed "Prison break" - season one on DVD from a friend.

A few episodes in, and I'm terribly underwhelmed. How did this ever manage to become such a huge hit? I can see how the lead might appeal to teenage girls, but other than that? The plot developments are incredibly far-fetched, and most of the inmates are near cardboard caricatures. I doubt I will watch the entire season. Unless the quality picks up dramatically as the season progresses.

Bodies

A hidden gem. Such a shame that the BBC buried it, but perhaps not so surprising - Jed Mercurio's medical incompetence drama is not exactly a ringing endorsement of the public sector.

Watched three episodes of Chuck ("Chuck vs. the DeLorean", "Chuck vs. Santa Claus", and "Chuck vs. the Third Dimension") as part of my week-long marathon of Season 2 to get a refresher on the show before Season 3 finally begins on Sunday night.

Great show, and I can't wait for Sunday night. Hopefully the ratings will improve enough to get this show headed in the direction of becoming a hit rather than heading back towards another cancellation drama like last spring.
