Excellent quality digital projection but not from the same print as the UE DVD - so no color tinting issues. Interestingly when viewed at 24 fps the under-cranked scenes and post production dubbing are far less apparent than on video / DVD, so I'm wondering if these are more to do with PAL conversion than anything else.....
Can't wait for the Blu-Ray.

You lucky devil; where did you see this? Now I want to see it!Just got back from seeing this on the big screen for the first time; absolutely stunning - was grinning like a schoolboy throughout!

And it took my breath away. I want to watch all the Bond Films on the big screen now. I was also amazed at how much more I noticed from watching it in the cinema. Mush better than my blu-ray player and 32 inch.
And wasn't George just brilliant! I think he is well underrated and was total class as bond. I never noticed the reference to the previous bond when George touches Monneypennys bum in her office. She tells him he is still the old James until he touched her bottom and she says something like "almost the same James"

I'm in the uk and it was shown at selected cinemas around the country today - I'm sure it'll show up in the States.... at some point.
I also saw it today on the big screen!

I've always thought Lazenby was underrated but yeah he really commands attention when viewing the film this way - there may be odd moments where he struggles with the dialogue, but there's a real physical confidence to his performance.

Having seen OHMSS theatrically on numerous occasions, I can testify that the film is an amazing experience on the big screen. And yes, Lazenby handles the role remarkably well.I also saw it today on the big screen!

Moneypenny's line, by the way is, "Same old James . . . only more so."

Am I the only one who wonders why we can't get classic Bonds on the big screen more often?

Those of you who saw it on the big screen sure are some lucky guys.

Not that big of a thing here in the US I guess. Honestly I've been contemplating booking one of the theatres at one of the local cinemas for an entire weekend and just doing a private showing of two or three Bond films each night with just a bit of a break between them to let people use the bathroom and stuff. Alas renting the theatre for even just the length of one movie is monies. Monies I don't have. Plus I don't want to spring the cash until I can get a gauge of the audience. So actually my plan was to start saving the money and when I reach it post here on CBn to see who in the greater Philadelphia area would show up/might show up and how many people from outside the area, but not absurdly far away, might show up. Because as awesome as it would be to witness something like OHMSS on the big screen, I wouldn't rent a theatre for myself at the price it is.

Its not far from Bern at all. I'm more used to flying into Geneva then catching the train to Bern (the train station is at Geneva airport). You'll need to change trains at Bern but that gives you a chance to see Gumbolds offices (actually a hotel) just out side the station and the clock used for the Gumbold's safe scene.
From Bern it's a lovely journey past Lake Thun to where you can stay in Interlaken. I recommend Walters if you're on a budget.

Get a Swiss Pass prior to going. This will give you half price travel and also pays for your return fare to your start point in Switzerland
This is a good base to travel to Lauterbrunnen and then onto Murren and the Schilthorn. On the way down you can go via Stechelberg and to the Trummelbach falls.
Piz Gloria is a fabulous location though. When we filmed there for the 30th anniversary we stayed for over 5 hours.
No 40th anniversary documentary from us, but I did finally see OHMSS on the big screen in London.

- In the "Bond reminiscences" scene in his office, the taking-out of objects in the drawer has been drastically altered; for instance, a few objects magically appear and disappear at random on the desk without having been taken out of the drawer, including the "O.H.M.S.S." folder from Thunderball, the first glimpse of the wristwatch garrotte after the knife-belt from Dr. No is taken out, and the safecracker from You Only Live Twice (I'm positive on that last one).
- When Tracy says, "I didn't know Mr. Bond knew Papa", reading her lips proves she actually spoke the line on set as "I didn't know Papa knew Mr. Bond".
- The gun that disappears from Bond's drawer after his night with Tracy is in the hand of the thug with the newspaper the morning after; thus, "Mr. Bond, you've lost something..."
Anybody else?

Hey; sorry, man, but if 40-year-old music gets a great amount of appreciation even today, then so should 40-year-old movies... especially a 40-year-old movie not previously celebrated as being one of the best in the series over these past 40 years.Happy Anniversary OHMSS you great big film you!
(There, that goodenough for you Mr Blofeld?)
Also, I wish Peter Hunt could have seen the critical rebirth his film has gotten over the past 10 years; I wonder what he'd say about it.

I bought OHMSS in HD from iTunes and wanted to give fans of the film a little taste of what the blu-ray will look like by posing some screenshots:

Wow, that second shot is beautiful. I'm not all that big on switching to HD at the moment but this certainly makes it look inviting. Thanks for posting these.

Yes that is a beautiful shot and I noticed that there is a ship on the horizon that I never noticed before. Here are two more screenshots, really there are 4 since took screenshots of their UE counter part:I bought OHMSS in HD from iTunes and wanted to give fans of the film a little taste of what the blu-ray will look like by posing some screenshots:

I think the shot of Lazenby's face shows a huge improvement since now it looks more natural and you can actually see the bump on his nose a lot better.

We flew from Birmingham on Sleazyjet into Geneva, hired a car between 4 of us and stayed in very reasonablely priced digs in Interlaken.
This allowed us to spend Saturday in and around Schilthorn restaurant (Piz Gloria) and other OHMSS local locations used in the film. The whole day proved amazing and more than enough time to do it all.
The Sunday we jumped in the car and headed down to the Goldeneye Damn which was an added bonus. If you time it right you can drive through the Fokke pass and see some Goldfinger locations, but be careful to check to see if the pass is open 1st as it can be quite a detour if it isn't.
On the way back we stopped in Bern for food. If you want to find Gumbolds office it is the hotel opposite the train station which looks like it was the building site used in the film.
The whole weekend travelling expenses came in at around £300. Very reasonable and in all a brilliant time.
