One of my top 5 favorites. For many years it tied with GF as my #2 favorite Bond film (FRWL being #1). A little movie called CR bumped them all down a spot!

OHMSS was the Bond film that saved my Bond fandom after it was nearly smothered in the crib by YOLT. After that movie, I felt turned off, but I figured I could always give old Laz the benefit of the doubt... B)

...and did he deliver. Oh, boy, did he ever deliver.

If only more of the films had been as well done as OHMSS.

Has anyone good recollections of the film's premiere at the Odeon? I have to write about it.

Is it true that lyrics were planned for the main OHMSS theme? wonder if they will ever see the light of day, and I also wonder who they would have used to perform it.

A few weeks ago when I was at the lecture with Marc Forster at the National Film Theatre he mentioned it was one of his favorites and the person interviewing him snootily said. "Oh isn't that the one the Bond fans hate." Though it most probably annoyed him I really felt I had to correct him and say, "no us fans generally consider it one of the best, it's you critics that don't like it."

It could have been great:
"You'll never be nervous
On Her Majesty's Secret Service."

It's strange, but having read your lyrics, I imagined The Beatles singing it, odd.

The defining Bond introduction: B)

http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/267/georgelazenbyei6.jpg
"Good morning; my name's Bond, James Bond!"

There's a great build-up to that moment (the stuff with Bond rescuing Tracy from the ocean is pure gold), but I don't like that reveal. His delivery is just a bit too playful and cocky for me. I'd prefer something more restrained, with a bit more concern.

I think he is just happy to see a woman that he has pulled from water is alive, and not dead (thinking of Vesper).

I know its a little off topic, but just watched George Lazenby in 'Who Saw Her Die' made a couple of years after OHMSS,while dubbed I would say its yet another example how underated George is/was.For all the Lazenby fans out there this is one his best movies. Its a little like 'Don't Look Now'
For those in the UK have you notices that OHMSS is back on the big screen on Sunday 28th June at selected cinemas.

i wish they would give the film some sort of special treatment for its bluray such as a george lazenby commentary or even an isolated score track. while the new films are great this one still remains my favorite. everything about it is top notch.

I can agree to that - would be absolutely magnificent. Could convince me to actually splurge on Blu-Ray itself.

I'm greatly anticipating the OHMSS Blu-ray release. If nothing else is supplied other than the UE content, at least there will be a noticeable visual upgrade.

If there's a photo of someone topless, you can bet the Russians have got it. B)

And seeing OHMSS on Blu Ray would indeed be a treat. The film is quite pleasing aesthetically and would no doubt look marvelous.

Thanks, Mr. Blofeld. I think I made it when I first registered here, which was quite a while ago. Though to be honest I don't think my skills with the ol' PhotoFiltre have improved at all since then. B)

Yep; I personally love the Craig films, but for the folks over here, it was the year of Bond and Bats, so I combined 'em...
