1) Timothy Dalton
2) Sean Connery Mark I (1962-1965)
3) Daniel Craig
4) George Lazenby
5) Pierce Brosnan
6)= Roger Moore
Sean Connery Mark II (post 1965)
*** I think it essential to view Connery as having two distinctive portrayals as Bond. One where he kept fit and interested and under Terence Young's tutelage attempted a cinematic portrayal of the Fleming original. And the rest, where he got old and fat and didn't really give a stuff.

I know we have another more recent thread on this subject but I can't find it!
1. Connery
2. Craig
3. Brosnan (for his first two Bond performances only)
4. Lazenby
5. Moore (miscast)
6. Dalton (even more miscast)
The problem with these lists is that they don't incorporate how uneven the actors were. Moore's best performance - Moonraker - puts him right up there with Connery, Craig and Connery at their best. Brosnan was great at first, but lousy in those two final films. And Craig was set to be tied for #1 on the basis of his first two Bond performances until Skyfall where he hit nothing but wrong notes for me.

I love that this website loves Timothy Dalton as much as I do!
