We have had polls for best film, best film of each era, and so on. But i have yet to see a poll for which man you like the best in the 007 role. My choice is obivious, but I will rank mine later, whats yours?

Ok here are my reasons:

1. Pierce Brosnan: Pierce Brosnan's Bond is the Bond I want to see. Pierce's Bond is just about right for me. Ruthless, yet charming and above all, human. I think this new Bond is the only one that can survive in the next 40 years of 007. He is the series saviour.

2. Roger Moore: I know I changed my list, it happens. Anyways, Moore was the ultimate in suaveness and sophistication, and was a very light-hearted Bond who delivered the one-liners superbly. But he was in some of the series worst entries. But never once did he shy away from a great performance, if only more of his films would back that up. That and when he was extremely OTT it just did not work. Whatever you think of Moore, I feel one thing is certain. Without Roger Moore, James Bond would NOT exist today. For that we must be eternally grateful.
That is why I changed my list.

3.Sean Connery: Connery had a great physical presence on screen and he was an instant hit in Dr No (1962) and he followed this up with massive successes in his 007 films. Connery

2. Roger Moore (his were the first Bond films I saw and I've got a particular fondness for them)
3. Pierce Brosnan (a damn good Bond, seems to have a nice balance of the qualities of the two above)
4. Timothy Dalton (4th place, but still a great Bond. The Living Daylights is one of my favorite Bond films. I still love LTK but not nearly as much as I do the other films...the seriousness went a bit too far)
5. George Lazenby (still a good Bond, might have been great had he stayed on long enough.)

Jim: I would suggest buying the Barbie James Bond gift set, available in November...or at least go to Barbiecollectibles.com and have a look at Ken as Bond. I think you will find that Ken looks like the son the other two would have...if such things were possible.

My list (Of which falls into two catagories):

1. Pierce Brosnan- A new #1 due to my new appreciation for his movies. I have always liked his movies, but I though that they didn't match up to the "originals." After watching and re-watching his movies over and over, he moved up on the list.

1. Roger Moore- Has always been my favourite because of his new approach to the role. I know that most of the people don't like his approach, but I think that it suited the timw very well.

3. Timothy Dalton- TLD is my second favourite Bond film and I also like LTK. I like the new way that he played the role in which it was more serious. I'm glad that way didn't stay for long, but it was good to see.

3. George Lazenby- Even though he only did one film (which is my favourite) I think that his brought a unique quality to the role. I wish that he would have stayed on for more, but the series probably wouldn't have lasted like it has

3. Sean Connery- Even though he is the last one that I am puting on my list, I do not think that he is the worst. I like all the Bonds and the last three I mentioned are interchangeable. I just can't decide between those three. I enjoy the way that he originally defined the role of James Bond and how he had to develop the character.

There is no bad Bond actor in my opinion.

I agree Dortmunder, I have to appulad EON's choices, so far they have not let me down. But I think there are not any other good canidates out there. Too bad!

1. Sean Connery (...Suave, sophisticated, charming... balding. In all seriousness, the original & best, can you imagine what the series would have been like if Cary Grant played the part???)

2. Pierce Brosnan (...The 1st Bond I saw on the big screen, saviour of the series)

1. Timothy Dalton

2. Peirce Brosnan/Roger Moore

3. Sean Connery (was going to put Connery last, but as much as he annoys me, I could not truly say that I think he is worse than Lazenby)

4. George Lazenby.

Of course, these may all change.

Connery: Easily the best. Has the biggest screen presence, embodies the character of Bond on screen and his dangerous persona Fleming described. This guy looks dangerous. He didn't have to act it, and he can handle himself. It certianlly looks like he gives Nic Cage a good wack in the kitchen scene in The Rock.

Dalton: Very realistic. And like Connery looks seriously dangerous in some scenes, not someone you want to piss off and meet outside. Handled the action well and added a touch of darkness to Bond's character.

Lazenby: Probably confusing many people. But he was actually good. Definantly as good as Connery in the fight scenes, some of which only come a close second to Bond and Grant and the pretitle of Thunderball. A little uneasy in parts, but that's to be expected it's only his first time out. Pity he didn't make more, he'd have been good. His first is defiantly better than Roger's.

Brosnan: Good, looks the part. Seems a little lacking in some of the action fight scenes. Especially GoldenEye. TWINE's his best out till I see DAD. But I don't see him moving any higher than 3. Simply because the films aren't as good story vechiles as they used to be.

Moore: Used to love seeing Roger on the TV as a kid. Unfortuantly he's the furtherest from Fleming's Bond. And since reading the novels, i've always held the belief that if the guy on the screen's name is James Bond, he should act like the character he's based on. SPY was a great flick though, better than YOLT.

Yeah I personally like/see Moore as Simon Templer in The Saint .. back i the good old black/white show.

1) (tie) Connery/Brosnan
Both have the right mixture of humor, cruelty, and savior faire (sp?) to play 007, in their respective eras. Connery brought him to the forefront, and Brosnan made him relevant for a world that has changed. Only time and Bond 21 will break this tie. Until then, they are pretty even.

3) Dalton
His hard edge and little humored approach rang well with the movies he starred in.

4) Moore
The most humorous, the only time I truly believed he was Bond was in TSWLM. The other films basically had him establishing/recapturing that, with none really succeeding.

5) Lazenby
The one with the most untapped potential. Too bad he never got another chance.

As for reasons for the change, during the TNN Bond Marathon showings of FRWL, GF, TB and DN, I noticed Hey! I nearly forgot how good these movies are! Connery is the ****!!! After Brosnan of course;) ... and well that's it... Now Connery is my other number 1 and I'm so glad that I've changed my mind about my Christmas list. It was GF and TSWLM DVD's but now it's DN and GF DVD's:D ... Yea!
